Soon, breakfast was ready. As Summer walked downstairs and entered the dining room, she smelled the oil in the noodles and felt a wave of nausea. She covered her mouth and rushed to the bathroom.
“Summer!” Spencer was startled and followed her nervously. “Summer, are you okay?!”
The two elders were stunned for a moment, then exchanged glances. Three seconds later, they spoke in unison, “Could she be pregnant?”
They hurriedly walked around the dining table and headed towards the bathroom. Summer hadn’t eaten anything that morning but felt extremely uncomfortable, especially after smelling the oil. The family stayed with her in the bathroom for a long time, handing her tissues and water.
“Summer, could you be pregnant? Do you have a test?” her mother asked anxiously.
Summer was taken aback. Pregnant? She suddenly felt a surge of joy. It was possible! She hadn’t been eating much lately and had lost her appetite.
She shook her head. “I haven’t tested, but we have test strips at home.”
“Let’s go test it!” Spencer said happily, pulling his wife upstairs.
Mr. and Mrs. Campbell were overjoyed, their faces beaming with smiles.
Ten minutes later, in the well-lit bedroom upstairs, Summer opened the bathroom door and walked out holding a positive test strip. “As you wished.”
Spencer quickly approached her. When he saw the two red lines, he lifted her up in joy!
He spun around in circles. “Summer, I’m going to be a dad! We’re having a baby!!”
Summer was just as excited as he was. Her smile was childlike as she held onto his shoulders, afraid he might drop her.
“Put me down; I’m getting dizzy!”
“Hahaha, this is amazing! We’re having a baby!!”
Spencer couldn’t stop smiling as he spun around with his beloved woman in his arms. His joy was genuine and irreplaceable by anything else.
By evening, Rowan had not returned to the hospital since delivering Jennifer’s baby. His team was now capable of handling things on their own. Besides, Claire was also pregnant, so Rowan spent most of his time with her.
As the sun set, they walked hand-in-hand along the riverbank, painting a serene picture of contentment.
“Taylor is coming over,” Rowan said to her. “He’s finished his exams and got his certificate. From our phone conversations, I can tell he’s been studying medicine seriously; he’s much more mature and steady now.”
“That’s good news,” Claire replied, turning to him. “What did Mother say? Did she agree to him coming to Arkpool City?” If Taylor came, all the children would have left.
The mother referred to here was Princess Catherine.
“Mother called me too; we talked for half an hour. She’s very supportive and hopes Taylor can contribute to society. She wants me to take care of him and help him develop a sense of responsibility,” Rowan said gratefully.
“That’s great. Being a doctor comes with a lot of responsibility,” Claire said. “Taylor can live with us; our house is big enough, so there’s no need for him to find another place.”
“I thought so too; I just wanted to discuss it with you.”
“No need to discuss such things; I would definitely agree. We’re family! Mother said we should take care of him, and being together is the best way to do that. Otherwise, he’d be ordering takeout every day.”
Rowan turned and affectionately patted her head. “Thank you, darling.”
Claire leaned happily on his shoulder. “My Dr. Watson, are you planning to stay with me until our baby is born safely?”
“Life is short; I want to enjoy it,” Rowan smiled at her. “I want to savor every second of growing old with you-is that not allowed?”
