“Of course, I would love that! You used to spend almost all your time with your patients. Sometimes, I was so envious of them that I wished I could fall ill myself.”
Rowan’s heart skipped a beat upon hearing this. He stopped in his tracks, turned around to face her, and gently covered her mouth with his hand.
Claire looked up into his deep, gentle eyes filled with love.
He said to her, “My wife will never get sick; she will always be healthy.”
She wrapped her arms around his waist and leaned happily into his embrace. This was the scene Claire had always dreamed of-marrying him and growing old together.
The next day at noon.
A flight landed, and Taylor disembarked with a suitcase in hand. He wore a long black coat and sunglasses, without any bodyguards accompanying him, keeping a low profile.
Rowan and Tristan, two prominent men, came to greet him at the airport-a reception fit for the King of Lu Layeka.
It had been some time since they last met.
Meanwhile, Monica and Claire were at Rowan’s house, preparing a small yet warm welcome ceremony with the help of the servants. They had even decorated the living room for the occasion.
When Taylor walked in, he was completely taken aback!
“You all…” Taylor was deeply moved. “Such a grand welcome?” His face lit up with a smile, but he was at a loss for words.
“Welcome to Arkpool City, Prince Taylor!”
“No, it’s Dr. Taylor!” Taylor quickly corrected them. He no longer held the title of prince; he was determined to become an excellent doctor like his brother, prioritizing people’s health above all else.
“Yes, yes, Dr. Taylor! Welcome, Dr. Taylor!”
For tonight’s small party, Rowan thoughtfully invited some doctors from the hospital-his research team partners and high-level hospital staff.
The purpose was simple: to introduce Taylor to them and help him integrate into this new environment quickly.
It turned out to be a pleasant evening.
Around midnight, as the guests gradually left one by one, Taylor and Rowan clinked glasses on the terrace. This was akin to a meeting between sovereign and subject. Taylor reported on the situation in Lu Layeka.
He also mentioned that their mother had invested heavily in building a castle that was now complete. It was divided into three sections as a gift for them; Monica also had her share.
Catherine’s genuine care and love for her children touched Rowan deeply.
Life is so short; living well every day is enough-being happy without unnecessary conflicts.
When everyone let go of their worries, life became increasingly joyful.
Recently, Agnes hadn’t reached out to Mr. Cat or sent any messages to disturb him. However, she couldn’t stop thinking about him.
Over the weekend, she decided to go out and clear her mind in hopes of diverting her attention. She wanted to stop overthinking and find a way to heal herself.
So, she got up in the morning, took a shower, applied light makeup, dressed nicely, grabbed her fully charged phone and bag, and headed out the door.
She bought a high-speed train ticket and boarded alone.
She wanted to visit an ancient town nearby; perhaps its slow-paced life could bring her long-lost peace and help her reassess this relationship.
The ancient town had at least 800 years of history and was just half an hour away by high-speed train.
Beyond the bustling city lay the ancient town where one could savor life’s simple pleasures and leisurely watch time pass by.
Agnes loved this kind of environment-a blend of poetry and everyday life; an old street with countless stories.
Walking alone through the town and seeing couples passing by reminded her of Mr. Cat.
What was he doing?
How has he been feeling lately? Is his work stressful?
