Jennifer shook her head with a smile and sighed deliberately, “After giving birth, I’ll go to work, and you can take care of the baby.”
“If you want to work, that’s fine; if you want to stay home, that’s also fine. As long as you’re happy, I’ll definitely take care of the baby,” Ivan said. “I missed Alfie and Diana’s births, so let me experience the hardships of taking care of a newborn.”
“Good that you know it’s hard,” Jennifer said with a blissful smile. “For all those years you were late, you’ll have to spend a lifetime making up for it.”
“Yes, yes, yes, in the next life I’ll make sure to keep my eyes wide open!”
“Will you remember me in the next life?”
“Of course I will!” Ivan’s smile was warm. “I’ll do more charity work in this life to accumulate good karma for the next life so I can meet you again.”
Jennifer laughed at his sweetness.
After a pleasant breakfast, Ivan accompanied Jennifer on a walk in the garden. The flowers and plants brought good cheer.
Rowan had recently advised that walking more in the days leading up to labor would help position the baby correctly.
“Is there anything we might have missed?” Jennifer turned her head at his words and saw him talking to himself. “What’s wrong now?”
“Is there anything missing from the hospital bag?” Ivan was quite nervous. “I packed everything on the list, but did we forget something? Let me think again.”
“Oh, we don’t need too much stuff. Just bring the baby’s clothes and we’ll be fine!” Jennifer shook her head with a smile. “You’re too nervous; you’re almost obsessed. Haven’t you noticed your sleep quality has been poor lately?”
Ivan held her hand with one hand and wrapped his other arm around her shoulder. “I’m worried, I’m nervous, I’m excited! Who needs sleep? My heart is filled with all kinds of emotions right now; you wouldn’t understand! No one can understand; I’m going to be a dad again!”
“Yes, yes, yes, I don’t understand. You’re amazing because you’re going to be a dad,” Jennifer teased him gently as she leaned on his shoulder, enveloped in happiness.
“Are you scared?” Ivan had recently watched several videos explaining the childbirth process, which made him extremely anxious. “Are you also very nervous?”
“It’s okay. After all, giving birth is a normal process. Just take it calmly. After the pain, I’ll get to see the baby who has been with me for ten months. This pain is worth it; I can endure it.” For a woman, this was a happy pain. “You should stop talking now; you’re making me anxious.”
“I really wish I could share this pain with you.” Ivan took a deep breath and stopped walking. He hugged her shoulders and planted a deep kiss on her forehead. “Hang in there; I love you.”
Jennifer suddenly frowned. “You really are… ouch…”
“What’s wrong?” Ivan was extremely nervous and quickly bent down to support her arm. “Are you uncomfortable?”
“It seems…” Jennifer held her high belly with both hands as she assessed her condition before giving an answer. “It seems like labor pains have started.”
This familiar sensation made her certain-it was labor pains! She had given birth to two children before; she had experience!
“Let’s go to the hospital!” Ivan bent down to carry her but was refused by her.
“I can walk myself.”
“Let me carry you! Trust me!”
“It’s too heavy!”
Before Jennifer could finish speaking, Ivan had already lifted her in a princess carry. “Did I work out for nothing? Can’t even use it now?”
Jennifer didn’t struggle and let him carry her, wrapping her arms around his neck naturally.
