“Of course, Alpha Damian, they have no problem swearing under the pot of thunder. These people are my pack members and highly trustworthy compared to the lowlife omega over there,” Lilith said, urging them on as they remained unmoving.
“Come on, it’s just a little oath. It’s for the greater good, isn’t it?” Lilith pressed, her voice laced with a hint of irritation.
Benjamin, the woman, and the other man exchanged uneasy glances but eventually nodded, understanding the weight of their decision, and stepped forward.
“Beta James, bring forth the Pot of Thunder.” Alpha Damian’s voice cut through the tension, authoritative and unwavering.
Why was he going this far just to help me? Is he doing all this because he has recognised me as his mate, or did he find out the truth from his daughter and just want to return the favour?
A man with golden hair, whom I assumed was his beta, swiftly moved, retrieving a mysterious and ornate pot, intricately adorned with symbols that seemed to pulsate with power.
Its presence alone sent shivers through the air, foreshadowing the impending judgment. The beta placed the Pot of Thunder in the centre of the room, its mystique casting an ominous glow. The air grew heavy with anticipation as everyone awaited the unfolding of the supernatural proceedings.
“Step closer,” Damian instructed, and as the tension lingered in the air, the hesitant men reluctantly approached the pot of thunder, their eyes reflecting both fear and uncertainty. The atmosphere was thick with anticipation, and I couldn’t help but feel a mix of curiosity and trepidation.
Lilith, with a devious smirk, continued to prod them forward, emphasising the necessity of the oath for the supposed greater good. The dim light cast shadows on their faces, revealing the conflict within as they hesitated to swear allegiance under the pot of thunder-a potent symbol of both power and consequence.
“Swear to speak nothing but the truth under the pot of thunder, and may the consequences be upon you if you break your word and lie.” Damian said as Benjamin nervously glanced at Lilith.
“Come on, don’t be cowards. Swear, or face my wrath.” Alpha Damian circled them, his piercing gaze intensifying the pressure. The men exchanged uneasy glances before finally, with reluctant determination, they placed their hands on the pot of thunder.
“I-I… I swear.” Benjamin muttered, and the woman in the black dress swallowed hard.
“I swear too.” She said so, and so did the last man.
The oath echoed in the air, sealing their fate as the pot of thunder absorbed the solemn words, their significance hanging heavily in the air.
“You are doing great. Keep going,” Lilith said, urging them with a sinister smile as she stared at me.
“Now, repeat after me,” Alpha Damian commanded, his words creating an undeniable tension that settled over the room as if everyone was waiting for something mysterious to happen.
“May the consequences of deceit be as thunderous as the oath you’ve sworn,” he declared, looking at the men who now stood in a precarious position beside a confidently smirking Lilith.
“Well, it seems you’ve gained three more loyal subjects, Alpha Damian.” Lilith grinned while I rolled my eyes internally.
Damian fixed his intense gaze on Lilith. “Loyalty should be earned, not coerced. Remember your place, Lilith, and they are yet to say their final oath, so stop interrupting this sacred process,” he said, and the atmosphere crackled with an unspoken challenge as he asserted his dominance. The once-confident Lilith found herself on the receiving end of an unexpected shift in power dynamics.
“Well, you see. I told you my people are trustworthy, and now it’s time for the omega to swear,” she retorted.
“Say the final words,” Damian commanded them, ignoring Lilith.
“May the consequences of betrayal be as thunderous as the oath I have sworn,” they said in union, and the moment the false oath left their lips, a sudden burst of energy crackled through the air.
Swift and relentless, a force descended upon the three liars. In an instant, their bodies convulsed as if struck by an invisible lightning bolt.
Everyone, including Lilith, gasped in horror as the once-defiant trio crumbled to dust, their figures dissipating into nothingness. The ashes scattered, carried away by an otherworldly force, leaving only a chilling silence in the aftermath.
Fuck.
Alpha Damian’s expression remained stoic, pretending like nothing happened. I was speechless at the fact that he wasn’t surprised that three people had been turned to dust, which made me feel a little bit uneasy. He knew the consequences that befell those who dared to deceive. The room, once filled with tension, now held an eerie stillness as the reality of their demise sank in while I rose from the harsh stone with newfound joy, a smile breaking across my face.
I was free.
“Where do you think you’re going?” Alpha Damian inquired with a raised eyebrow, and I felt a rush of satisfaction.
“Duh, I’ve been proven innocent, so why should I stay here?” I replied with a nonchalant shrug, shooting a triumphant glance at the now speechless Lilith sprawled on the ground.
It serves her right, I thought. While a part of me wished I had taken revenge on the three of them myself, satisfaction filled me, knowing that karma had done a better job at revenge than I ever could.
Damian stepped closer to me, not caring about the people present, and in that proximity, I could sense an instant pull. It was as if an invisible force tugged at me, drawing me nearer to him.
My wolf was in a frenzy, echoing the pull and urging me to embrace him. The mate bond, which had been dormant for so long, was reawakening, creating a magnetic connection that felt undeniable. Despite my resentment towards having a mate, I couldn’t ignore the inexplicable attraction and the complex emotions swirling within me.
As Alpha Damian stepped closer, my eyes involuntarily drifted to his face. I found myself admiring the rugged handsomeness that defined his features-the strong jawline, piercing eyes, and the subtle but commanding presence he exuded.
His lips, a contradiction of firmness and softness, seemed to hold untold stories. In that moment, my resentments momentarily gave way to an involuntary appreciation of the man before me. The mate bond stirred within, creating a conflict of emotions as I found myself caught between the past and an unexpected connection that refused to be ignored.
“Well, it seems rescuing you comes with a price,” Damian remarked, his gaze shifting from stern to thoughtful.
“And what might that be?” I responded with a playful glint in my eyes.
“You’re going to be the new assistant nurse at the werewolf academy, if you don’t mind and would–”
I smirked, “I gladly accept your intriguing offer.”
“What?” Damian’s surprise was mirrored in his expression.
“I’m ready for a new adventure,” I said with a determined smile, knowing fully well that the moon goddess had given me an opportunity to be closer to my son and protect him.
