Lilith
“Here she is,” Daphne announced sadly after a long walk into the cemetery.
Rose and I dropped to the floor, placing our palms on the cold marble on her grave, while Daphne held on to Liam.
Silence stretched between us as we reconnected to our memories.
It felt like yesterday when she was resting in my hands after being reduced to a bag of bones by cancer.
Although the disease was part of the reason she died, I knew the heartbreak from my father hastened her death.
I hope he was happy now that she was dead after moving on with his new family.
I miss her. I would trade anything to have her back in my arms.
I was glad I did everything within my power to save her.
Wiping my tears, I held on to Rose, who was weeping hard, unable to be consoled.
“You told me we would have our first picnic together to celebrate you beating cancer. You promised me you would be there for me always. Why did you leave? Why did you choose the day after my birthday? I thought we would conquer cancer together.”
She continued wailing hard, hitting her fist repeatedly on the stone until it started to bleed mildly.
Liam’s hands untied from Daphne as he strode to meet Rose, holding her and wrapping her in his short arms.
“You don’t need to cry, Rose. You are lucky unlike me. At least you got to know your mother for some years before she died. I don’t even know who my father is. Maybe he didn’t call to check up on me because he didn’t love me. It’s okay, Rose.” he muttered, patting her softly on her shoulder while she sniffed hard, hugging him.
My heart melted at his words as guilt ate me from within.
If only he knew I was the reason his father didn’t even know he existed.
Would he forgive me?
Breaking the news to him, this tender would torment him, and that is the least I wanted.
Like magic, Rose stopped crying as she picked herself from the floor and wiped her face with her dress.
“Thank you. Liam. Goddess, you are so smart,” she praised him, chuckling lightly amid tears as she embraced him hard.
“Don’t worry, Liam. You will have a daddy soon,” Daphne said, trying to console him as she squatted until she met his height.
Peering at her suspiciously, I cocked my brow, indirectly telling her to explain her words.
“Is that true, mummy?” He gasped in surprise, fixing his happy eyes on my confused ones.
“Maybe your aunt Daphne can explain her statement since she was the one that brought it up,” I replied, folding my arms and cocking my head.
“You see, Liam, your mum is a very beautiful woman with a nice body that every guy dreams of. Soon, she will get married to a wonderful man and he will become your father. You will also have siblings and it will be a perfect family,” she squirmed, as if talking from her fantasy.
“Really?” I asked boredly, rolling my eyes at her cooked-up story.
“Why don’t you give grandma her flowers,” Daphne changed the topic, handing him his bouquet while he dropped it on the grave.
“I might not be lucky to see you, but thanks for taking care of mummy and Rose,”
“That’s so sweet, Liam.” Daphne cheered, squeezing him in a firm hug.
I had noticed how Daphne loved Liam. It warmed my heart.
When we were done dropping the flowers, we walked out of the cemetery, towards the car, feeling relieved.
I yawned wearily. “I’m so tired, I can’t wait to get home to take a cold shower.”
“We should do this every year to honour her,” Daphne suggested, glancing behind to look at the cemetery one last time. “She was a good mother and I’ll miss her a lot.”
“I can’t believe she is gone!” Rose’s voice broke as if she was about to burst into another round of tears.
“Thanks, Daphne. We will.”
“Mummy? What does my dad look like? Is he strong? Muscular? Does he have a beard-”
“Stop it, Liam. We talked about this already. No more questions!” I scolded him, feeling guilty as he fled from us.
I was about to chase after him to stop him from running to the busy road when a strange man caught him before he fell, balancing him. on his feet.
“You should look where you are going next time, kid,” he corrected, tapping him on his shoulder gently.
I wanted to rush to him to thank him for saving Liam before he fell or ran into the cars on the busy road, but a strange feeling surged up in my chest, instructing me against it.
A part of me wanted to grab Liam from him and run as far as my legs could take me.
I didn’t understand the feeling, but it still overwhelmed me.
“He is pissed, apologize to him,” Daphne said, giving me a sympathetic look as I strode to where he and the stranger stood.
Tapping his broad shoulders gently, I wore a smile, waiting for him to turn to me.
“He is my son. I’m not a careless mother, I promise. We had a tiny issue so he sprinted off,” I said, holding my hand to Liam, but he won’t come to me.
“Liam, let’s go. Tell the stranger thank you.”
“Daddy!”
My jaws dropped to the ground as I froze on the spot.
Were my ears deceiving me?
Why would Liam call a random stranger his father?
Why would he mess around with my feelings and the stranger’s feelings?
He doesn’t even know his father. He was doing it to get back at me.
I groaned inwardly as I was very pissed.
“Thanks for saving me, Dad, you are my hero,” he grinned, revealing his incomplete dentition.
“Stop it!” I mouthed to him, scolding him with my eyes.
“I’m sorry, sir. He doesn’t mean his words.”
I felt my life jump out of my body as horror covered my eyes the moment the stranger turned to meet me.
“Alpha Casper?!” I yelled in shock as my. My heart almost jumped out of my chest.
I blinked hard, staring at him, wishing it was a dream.
Painful memories crashed hard upon me. I could feel tears sting my eyes.
A cold breeze swept through my spine as the mark on my neck began to throb slightly.
Alpha Casper?!
“Liam, let’s go!” I yelled, dragging Liam away from his grip as I hastily jumped into the car, hurrying Daphne to start it before I lost my mind.
“Drive!”
“Lilith! Please wait!” Alpha Casper chased us, but the car speed made it impossible for him to catch up with us.
“What happened?” Daphne asked after we were far away from the area.
“No questions, just drive!” I replied harshly as I was too stunned to explain.
“Was that daddy?”
“Not now, Liam!”

Casper
I found her!
After 5 years of living in the shadow of myself. 5 years of daily reminders of how I screwed up because of my impatience and rash decisions.
5 years of torture and pain. I finally found Lilith.
Before I could get to talk to her, she hurriedly left in a car, accompanied by 2 ladies and a beautiful boy of around 4 or 5 years.
Was that her kid?
How dare she have sex with another guy while I wallowed in grief daily.
Why did the kid call me daddy?
What was his name again?
Liam. Yes, Liam.
Unable to get her attention as she sped away, I abandoned the shopping I came for, rushing into my car in preparation for a hot pursuit.
I must find out where she lives.
Where did she disappear from all these years?
I searched for her everywhere, yet it proved abortive.
What was she doing in town?
“Follow that car, and in all you do, don’t lose it or you’ll lose your life!” I ordered my driver, pointing at the car that was almost out of sight.
“Raphael,” I called, turning to meet him.
“Who was that?” He asked, trying to make out who I was talking to.
“Lilith. She is back!” I screamed excitedly.
A frown descended on Raphael’s face as he was unsettled with the news.
“That bitch! What did she come here to do? Seduce you after her last plan failed?” He scoffed, fuming with anger.
“That doesn’t matter. I want you to find out everything about her, who she is living with, where she is staying and the reason she disappeared from this town.” I ordered. I could feel Max pur in excitement.
“But, Alpha-”
“I know, but I can’t help it. I still love her. Seeing her resurrect those feelings, plus she is my second-chance mate.” My voice became soft as I explained.
How is Lilith able to make me lose my mind after hurting me?
“I need the information in the next 2 hrs. Don’t leave even the tiniest detail.”
“Speed up!” I urged the driver, keeping my eyes on their car, which was almost getting away.
I lost her once.
I would never lose her again!
