Chapter 96
Casper
I couldn’t keep calm.
Two hours of wait seemed like an endless torture.
It took me a great deal of self-control not to bombard Raphael with tons of messages as anxiety consumed me whole.
Several questions loomed in my head. Questions I wanted an answer to.
Who was that child?
Who was his father?
Why did he call me daddy?
Did Lilith tell him everything? I bet he would hate me for abandoning him for his first few years.
But what if I was overthinking it? What if that was another man’s child?
Would I be able to accept her raising another man’s child?
Fuck!
I would do anything to get Lilith at this point.
I was miserable without her. I became the worst version of myself.
Those 4 years were filled with pain and torture. Max wouldn’t stop blaming me. Anna was lonely. The house was empty and dry.
Lilith’s presence seemed to warm up the atmosphere, keeping everyone’s happiness alive.
Without her by my side, my dream of becoming Alpha was abandoned again.
Those 4 years were worse than the previous 20 years.
Fuck!
I needed her.
I was going crazy by the minute.
What would I even say when I get to meet her? What would be her reaction?
Would she accept me?
I needed to win her by all means.
The thought of living without her made me sick to my gut.
I wouldn’t survive if she disappeared into the thin air again.
I had to make things right and deal with my hot temper, which made me make rash decisions before thinking them through.
Letting the tobacco with a giant wolf head lighter to cool off the steam of anxiety spreading in me, I dropped it on the table, taking a few drags before letting a plume of smoke flow out of my mouth.
“Alpha.” A voice caught my attention, making me pull the stick from my mouth as I turned to look at Raphael, whose lips quivered with heavy news.
“I’ve got news,” he announced, giving me a weary sigh.
My heart almost shot up in anxiety as it started beating loudly.
“I’m all ears.”
“Lilith came back for her mum’s remembrance of what happened yesterday. Her mum died of cancer. The two ladies beside her were her sister, Rose, and her best friend, Daphne.”
“What about the boy?” I gritted impatiently, clenching my jaws hard as my heart pounded in anticipation.
“The boy? What boy?” He asked, cocking his head and raising his eyebrows in confusion.
“A little boy was with her yesterday. He called me daddy and it was obvious that he was her son, but I’m not sure if he was mine.” I explained, disappointment washing over me.
“I’m sorry, Alpha, that is the only information I’ve got.”
“How long is she staying in the city before she disappears and where is she staying?” I asked, muttering inaudible words as some crazy ideas bounced around in my head.
His breath hitched as his grows drew together in anger. “Why is that information needed?” he asked, cocking his head as the feelings on his face vanished. His eyes appeared narrowed, and his lips were pursed.
Why was he mad?
He was the one who got only a bunch of irrelevant information, I should be the one mad.
“Because I asked for it,” I replied, ignoring his tensed gaze.
“Why? What would you do with the address? Go and see her? Throw yourself desperately around her and let her manipulate you like she did 5 years ago?”
Heaving a sigh, I threw him a pitiful look. “You don’t understand. I love Lilith and she completes me. Those 5 years were the best 5 years of my life after Marina died. I can’t just throw it away.”
“Yes, she lied to me. I made some findings after she left. It turned out she did it to be able to pay off a loan she received from a bad guy named Ricky, which she used to pay her mother and her sister’s medical bills. That was also the reason she worked as a waitress at that club. I rescued her from being raped, and that was the reason she pleaded to work in the estate. It’s because she needs money.”
“Why didn’t she tell you? I don’t trust her. Once a liar is always a liar.”
“I understand that she didn’t want to be a burden so she kept mute and did her thing until she was caught. Although I was mad and wanted her out of my life, after giving it a thorough thought, I came to the conclusion that she shouldn’t be blamed. Desperate times make people do things they are not proud of.” I explained but Raphael remained adamant, shaking his head.
“I can see that she has gotten into your head again. When you let her in your heart again, she would use you and milk you dry to provide for her little son and sister. She knows how to play her games well, and you are falling into her trap one more time. Wake up, Alpha!”
“Don’t worry about me, just provide the address,” I tried to shift his attention.
“She is staying in town for 3 days. And I am sorry, but I can’t give you the address. I don’t want that deceiving bitch to hurt you again,” he said, running off before I took my next step.
I was about to lash out and chase after him, forcing the information from his throat before her image flooded my memory.
I halted, reflecting on her as my inner eyes scanned her body until it got to her hands.
A smile twisted on my lips as I recognized the black smartwatch that I had given to her alongside the phone.
I didn’t need Raphael’s piece of information when I could track her location.
It was time to do some digging and show some of my tracking skills.
It was time to find my girl!

Lilith
I still couldn’t get it over my mind.
I just saw Alpha Casper. The wildest thing was that he tried chasing after the car.
I couldn’t think.
The next thing on my mind was to flee cowardly.
I couldn’t even look into his eyes. I was afraid he would do something or hurt me on the spot, after remembering how I broke his heart.
But if he was so mad at me, why did he try to chase the car?
Was it to find where I was staying so that he could inflict pain on me? Or was there something more to it?
Does he have feelings for me?
Does he want me back?
I wouldn’t know what I would do if he asked me to be his girlfriend again. I messed up the first time, I was afraid to even give the second trial a chance.
Groaning loudly, I couldn’t help but roll my eyes when I remembered how Liam called him Daddy.
He would ask me a series of questions that I wasn’t prepared to answer yet.
Nervousness clung to me like a second skin at the decision to reveal the truth about Liam’s paternity to him.
What if he didn’t believe me because I never told him I was pregnant? Plus, he could assume Liam was from one of my fans on Fantastic.
I doubt if he would believe me.
On the positive side, if he did, would he want anything to do with me? Or would he just come for his son alone while I was abandoned in the dark?
Was he capable of raising a child? He seemed more broken than ever.
His eyes were puffy and red. Dark circles formed a ring under his eyes.
Has he been sleeping well?
Panic seized through me as a thought dropped into my head.
What if he learns the truth and takes Liam from me forever?
No matter how I fought against it in court, I would never win because he was more influential and powerful.
Alpha Casper leaving me damaged me, but I found strength in Liam. But if he forcefully took custody of Liam, I would lose my mind.
Maybe I don’t have to tell him that he has a son.
It was a secret I would take to my grave.
But what if Liam keeps demanding to know his father? What do I tell him?
Unable to decide, I screamed in frustration, covering my face with a pillow to reduce drawing attention.
Maybe if I got married to someone else, like Daphne said at the cemetery, Liam would seize asking for his father.
It was time to move on from the pain of the past and provide a father figure for Liam.
A proud smile tugged at my lips as I lay on the bed after finding a way to resolve the problems ahead.
I was almost dozing off when a knock on the door jerked me.
I hissed silently, leaving my room and heading towards the door as my sleep was ruined.
The sitting room was empty, but the television was on.
Giggles could be heard from Daphne’s room.
I was glad Liam, Daphne and Rose were fond of each other.
Walking towards the door, I pushed it open, getting frozen on the spot as my eyes met the last person I wanted to see.
“Alpha Casper!”
