Lilith
Pain flared up in my chest as I staggered, losing balance and dropping to the floor.
It felt like a thousand needles stabbed an open wound in my heart.
Hot tears flushed down my eyes as my head began to pound heavily.
I couldn’t think.
This was too much drama and agonizing pain in one night.
The rejection from an Alpha was horrendous.
My wolf howled, wailing terribly as pain struck her head like a thunderbolt.
I wasn’t spared, and neither was my punishment less painful.
Each time I tried to stand to my feet, I found myself hitting the wall as the merciless claws of pain ripped my chest apart.
My body stung so hard, I thought I wouldn’t survive to see the next minute.
“Tell him that you are pregnant!” My wolf hurled at me, struggling to speak one last time before going mute as she was on the verge of collapsing.
“Tell him!” She gritted her canines, gasping for breath. I could feel her vision go blurry as she staggered in my head.
My mouth flew open to speak, but then, I thought about it.
Informing him that I was pregnant would worsen the situation.
He hated me now, and nothing could change it, especially when he was hardhearted.
“And watch him insult me that I slept with another man for money? Reminding me that I’m a stripping whore? No thanks,” I argued against it, wincing in pain.
“Who knows, there might be a crack in his stony heart. He might accept us again. I’m in so much pain, I can’t bear it anymore. A rejection from an Alpha is a nightmare,” Liz cried, howling while her body collapsed in my head, drained of strength while she panted.
“It’s worse when Raphael is with him. Now is not the best time.” I concluded. Agony rippled in my veins as I burst into fresh silent tears when Liz got quiet, save for the soft snores that escaped her nostrils.
I’m sorry, Liz. I don’t deserve you.
All I was good at was causing people pain.
If only I had confessed, this tragedy wouldn’t have happened.
Liz suffered greatly because of me.
A swell of anger rose in me, making me almost punish myself.
Maybe I didn’t deserve better things.
Maybe this was a sign not to bring an innocent child into the world and inflict it with my trauma.
I wouldn’t be able to forgive myself if I caused it pain.
Maybe termination was the best option after all.
I’m sorry, Alpha Casper.
“Accept it, bitch!” Raphael lashed out, almost charging at me as fury etched in his cold eyes.
“You don’t have to do this, Alpha,” I pleaded, crawling to meet him as I was rooted in pain to stand on my feet.
“Say it!” He yelled in my face, causing me to flinch and fall backwards.
“Don’t let her get into your head, Alpha. Remember all those times I warned you against her, saying she is a cunning bitch that uses her words carefully to manipulate her way into your life? She is exhibiting that character now. Don’t you dare fall for it!”
If not for that, I messed up before Alpha Casper and made him lose trust in me; I would have done something nasty to Raphael.
But I didn’t want to get punished. My body had undergone enough torture that lasted for months in just a few hours.
Adding to it will be wishing for death, especially when Raphael would be in charge of the punishment.
“Say it, or I’ll force those words from your mouth, and it won’t be in a nice way,” Alpha Casper bellowed, using his Alpha tone while I flinched in fear, trembling like a leaf.
Tears welled up in my eyes as I swallowed hard, forcing myself to stare into Alpha Casper’s eyes.
I could feel his pain, the sense of betrayal, raw anger and regret laced in them.
The air was filled with those emotions it almost suffocated me.
“I, Lilith Parker, accept…your…rejection,” I broke those dreaded words, wailing hard as the connection between Alpha Casper and I suddenly cut off.
The deafening sound of thunder permeated into the night, jolting me with fear.
It was like a confirmation from the moon goddess.
The bond that drew us together like magnets was erased, shattering my weak heart.
Liz hurled out one last week howl before my head became silent.
“Get out, I don’t want to see your face ever again!” He fired, his eyes shooting daggers at me like I was wrapped in disgust.
Hatred oozed out of him like a cloud of dust.
At that moment, I was terrified by Alpha Casper.
All through my stay in his estate, I had never been terrified of him; rather, I broke his rules.
But tonight, he showed me another side that warned me not to push him to his limit or I will get hurt.
“Raphael, burn all her belongings. I don’t want anything that reminds me of her!” he growled so hard that I felt the impact on the wall as it vibrated against my skin.
It felt as if he was possessed by another spirit that planted the seed of hatred and anger in him.
I knew nothing I said or did would revive the love he had for me.
It was over between us.
Summoning my last strength, I sprung to my feet, picking up a few of my stuff in a small box before everything went up in flames.
Luckily, I had enough savings to get Rose and me to a safe place and cover the cost of a cheap brothel for a few days while I planned my next move.
I was so engrossed in the packing that I didn’t hear the footsteps behind me.
It wasn’t until wicked laughter pierced through my ears that my body seized in tension, making me freeze on the spot.
“You think you can come between us?” His voice came out dangerously low with a mix of excitement and mockery.
“Your dirty schemes and the silly games you played finally turned against you. Now look who is packing, never to be seen or heard again.”
I didn’t bother replying to him, especially when I wasn’t insured under Alpha Casper’s protection.
He wouldn’t hesitate to slap me hard on the face.
It didn’t take long before rain started to pour heavily and cold seeped into my skin.
I continued packing, ignoring his hateful words that filled me with unbearable anger.
“You came here empty, you will leave empty. Don’t make the mistake of taking anything along with you,” he spat, hitting the box off my hand and watching it fall to the ground as my clothes scattered all over.
“You heard the Alpha’s commands, burn all her belongings…All!”
In a fit of anger, I threw the box at him, unable to get a hold of myself.
I don’t care what happened next.
A dangerous grin appeared on his cold face as his fingers cupped my teary cheeks before they slid down to my jaws, holding it firmly as his claws sank into my flesh.
“I told you that you will be exposed. I won!” Raphael smirked, pushing me backwards while I muttered a curse, running out of my room.
“Run along, bitch!”
That was the last time I heard his taunting voice.
I hadn’t gone far when my phone beeped.
A part of me was grateful that Alpha Casper didn’t seize my phone and the smartwatch.
Withdrawing it from my purse, I swiped the message open, squinting to read it as my eyes were already bloodshot and puffy from my crying.
We’ve not forgotten about you, sweetheart. You remain ours for the rest of your miserable life. Surrender yourself now or things will get bloody!
A loud gasp tore from my throat as fear consumed me, making me a trembling mess.
Without wasting time, I removed my SIM card from my phone, breaking it and throwing the pieces away before dropping my phone in my purse and racing downstairs.
“We need to leave, Rose!” I screamed in desperation, yanking her from Rose’s arms.
“Relax, she is sleeping. It’s too much to bear that you guys lost your mother. She cried herself to sleep.” Anna tried, pushing me away from her.
“What happened to you? Your eyes are red and swollen. Have you been crying?” She asked, her brows creasing as she studied my face.
“No. A lot happened. I hid a secret from Alpha Casper which turned out bad. He got all mad and rejected me as his mate. Plus a group of traffickers are after me. This will be the last time you will see me. I’m sorry it has to end this way,” I rushed my words, showing her the text message before tapping Rose awake.
“A rejection from the Alpha is brutal!” She gasped, holding her chest as she stared at me in pity.
“We need to leave for another city to start a new life. I’ll send you some money and promise me that you will meet Daphne, my best friend to bury my mum in the cemetery. I don’t have time.”
“I will call you when I’ve gotten a new number,” I added, holding myself from breaking down in tears.
“I’ll do it for free if this is the last favour you ask. I’m sorry things have to end this way.”
We hugged briefly before separating.
“We never saw each other and we didn’t discuss anything. Don’t tell anyone. We don’t know who the bad guys are.” I instructed while she did a sign of zip-locking her lips.
Muttering an appreciation, she handed me a wad of cash before hugging me goodbye and watching me leave the estate forever.
The rain poured down heavily on us as we made our way out in the darkness, shivering violently.
Flashes from torchlight swept across the trees and small plants before landing in our direction.
“It’s them! Get them alive or alive!”
