I couldn’t sleep all through the night. Anger flooded my veins.
Damn, Lilith!
Who asked her to save me?
Why wasn’t she locked up in her room?
Why couldn’t she be quiet and obedient like Anna?
I never asked for her pity.
I hated it when someone pitied me. It made me feel weak and useless.
I relished the feeling of fear that men had when I made my presence known to them. I loved the way they trembled before me.
But Lilith was different. One minute, she seemed meek. The next minute, she was roaring like a wild beast, challenging my authority.
It was something no one dared with me.
But why couldn’t my Alpha command work on her? What kind of wolf does she possess that is capable of withstanding my command?
She was just an ordinary maid that I employed.
Her wolf wasn’t powerful, and I was certain that she hadn’t had her first shift.
There was something mysterious about her that I longed to lay my hands on. I yearned to know her.
I let out a tensed sigh, rolling to the other side of the bed before my gaze landed on Marina’s picture.
Last night was the first time I was opportune to be with Marina again.
The image of her and the kids waving at me and beckoning unto me played before my eyes.
My heart leaped for joy when I felt my spirit leaving my body slowly, in preparation for the long-awaited reunion.
But then Lilith shattered my happiness.
The hurt in Marina’s eyes still lingered in my heart, causing a stabbing pain.
It caused me a great deal of sadness to see that I let my mate down the second time.
But I would make it up to her the third time as I was already sick of this world. It was a promise.
For the first time in 10 years, I woke up 2 hours late.
After carefully thinking of what to do with the wild kitty that challenged me, an idea popped into my head.
A menacing laughter erupted from my lips as thoughts of what I would do to her ran down my head.
I was certain that she felt I would fire her as a result of what happened the previous night.
But I wouldn’t.
No matter what Lilith does to me or anyone, she will never be sacked.
Rather, I would chip off her wings, feather by feather, until she was left with nothing to fly with. I would break her beyond repair. Only then would she submit to me as her Alpha.
When I was done with her, I would dump her.
She won’t challenge me now or in her next life. She would understand why people referred to me as the Ruthless Alpha.
I freshened up, breezing out of the bathroom before getting clad in a black shirt and black sweatpants.
Walking to the kitchen, a frown dropped on my face when I saw Anna putting things in order, and there was no sign of Lilith.
Her scent was barely noticeable, indicating that she hadn’t resumed her duty.
“Alpha,” Anna gasped when she saw me. Her head bowed briefly. “Good morning.”
“Where is Lilith?” I asked using my Alpha tone, ignoring her greeting.
It was strange how Lilith managed to catch my interest effortlessly in a few days while Anna had been working with me for 10 years.
Anna was boring and obedient like a lamb, while Lilith was a feisty wild kitty.
Wild kitty?
I rolled my eyes inwardly, surprised by the name I addressed her with.
“Uhm…she… uhm…went to get-”
“Stop trying to cover up for her! It’s obvious that she is yet to resume!” My harsh voice interrupted her, making her flinch backward.
Shame enveloped her face, and she lowered her head to the ground.
“I’m sorry, Alpha,” she muttered, sniffling afterward.
“Is there anything you want me to do? Meanwhile, your breakfast is ready,” she said, forcing a smile.
My lips parted to speak, but then, it curved into a smirk as a brilliant thought dropped in my head.
The perfect plan to make Lilith pay for disrespecting me and separating me from my family the second time.
“When Lilith wakes up, tell her to make me a ham and cheese omelet,” I declared, watching confusion grow on Anna’s pale face.
“But, Alpha, why the sudden change of meal? You’ve been eating the same food for 10 years and you never complained about it…plus I am the one in charge of making your…food,” Anna stammered, clasping her trembling hands behind her back and lowering her head to the floor.
Seemed Lilith was influencing her to be cheeky.
The smell of her fear and her continuous loud heartbeat filled the air.
“Don’t ever question my decisions,” I gritted, storming out of her presence and ignoring the apology she muttered.
I got busy with my phone as I waited for Lilith.
A few minutes passed, but there was still no sign of her. My legs itched to meet her and pull her out of her room, but I refrained from myself.
I didn’t want to seem desperate.
It didn’t take long before I started hearing 2 female voices.
Using my wolf’s hearing, a smile formed on my lips when Lilith’s angry voice filled my ears.
A shrill of excitement settled in my gut as I adjusted myself on the chair.
Fury oozed out of her as she made her way towards me, but I chose to ignore her, pretending to be engrossed in a TikTok video playing on my phone.
The thumping of her feet against the floor got louder, and her heavy vanilla scent invaded my nose, indicating she was in the room.
I stifled a pur, biting my lips as her sweet scent made me salivate.
Why was I attracted to her scent?!
A loud bang on the table caught my attention, but my eyes remained fixed on my phone, completely ignoring her.
From the corner of my eyes, she gritted her teeth in frustration as I wasn’t giving her an audience.
“I quit!”
She yelled at me furiously, wrapping her arms around her chest tightly and shooting me a menacing look.
Has she gone mad?!
A hiss rolled off my lips as I calmly dropped my phone on the table, focusing on her.
I could feel the heat of her fury roll off her body in waves.
She looked like a volcano about to erupt.
Welcome, my wild kitty.
I tore my gaze off her, deliberately pissing her off by diverting my attention.
“Are you deaf? I said I-”
“Shut up!” I interrupted, watching her flame up.
“Go into the kitchen and make me a ham and cheese omelet with a cup of coffee. Hurry up!”
Her burst of maniac laughter resonated throughout the room before she rested her surprised eyes on me.
“Not when I cease to be your staff,” she craned her direction, waiting for my next response.
“You don’t quit, I dump you!” I declared proudly, grinding my teeth to express my displeasure. “And until I dump you, opinions are not valid. Your arguments are baseless.”
“You can’t be serious.” she scoffed, her body enveloped in shock.
“Quit acting like an attention-deprived bitch and make breakfast for me. You are not even feisty, you are just a lousy wannabe drama queen. Get out of my face.” I spoke harshly, letting out a low growl.
Satisfaction seized me when my painful words sank into her skull.
From the corner of her eyes, I watched her blink severally to stop tears from flowing down her eyes.
“You leave me no choice but to flee from this horrible place.” she spat, her words hurting my ego.
