Casper
My clenched fist relaxed, and my head fell backward.
Darkness surrounded me, and Marina’s blurry figure beckoned unto me.
The swinging of the door and the sound of hurrying feet vibrated against the ground.
Through the darkness, a ray of light hit my eyes, and I began to jerk uncontrollably.
The feeling of hope warmed my heart.
A feminine figure dashed before me, placing my head on the softness of her boobs.
Her hands caressed my face as she panted in worry.
Her voice was distant, and I couldn’t hear a word she said.
She yelled frantically, her voice laced with confusion and fear.
Her lips stopped moving, and I could watch her bring something.
My inhaler!
Without wasting time, she pushed it into my mouth, administering it perfectly before running her slim hands over my thick hair.
We remained in that position until I felt better.
Minutes passed, and I soon regained my strength.
My brows creased in worry when I found myself lying on the cold floor. My head rested on the thighs of a feminine figure.
I snapped, anger retreating in my veins when her face came into view.
“What the hell are you doing with me?” I growled, tearing myself off from her embrace before jumping to my feet.
My heart pounded against my ribs, and my blood quickened in rage.
Lilith, again?!
“Alpha, thank goddess that you are awake.” Her voice conveyed relief as she stood on her feet, walking to me to examine me.
I wasn’t her child!
“Get the hell out of my sight!”
*****
Lilith.
My eyes widened in shock as I froze, staring at him in disbelief.
A scoff rolled off my lips as I shook my head, refusing to admit the scene that just unfurled before my eyes.
My jaws dropped to the ground as I was cloaked in skepticism.
My ears must be playing tricks on me.
But when my eyes landed on his body, his sunken eyes were filled with anger and hatred.
He didn’t look like the dying Alpha anymore. He was back to his terrifying self.
“Excuse me?” I cocked my head slightly backward, raising my brows as I marveled at his audacity.
“What part of getting out, don’t you understand?!” He released his terrifying aura, but I was too mad to submit to it.
Not today.
Mortified, I didn’t move an inch. I wished it was a dream. A nightmare.
I needed someone to wake me up!
“Are you deaf?! I said get the hell out and never repeat this nonsense again. It’s less than 24 hours, and you can’t even keep the rules,” he spat in irritation. A visible vein danced along his temple as his words came out in raw anger.
I let out a brief burst of manic laughter, confused at his strange behavior.
“I just saved your fucking life and this is what I get?!” My hands went up in the air in a demonstration.
“I must be dreaming,” I concluded, releasing a scuff as I folded my arms against my chest, unsure of what to do.
Was this fucking guy joking?
If I had kept to the stupid rules, the motherfucker would probably be dead by now?!
What the actual fuck was happening?!
My mind catapulted in a whirlwind of emotions and I was on the verge of screaming my lungs out in confusion.
I clasped my hand over my head, pinning him a hateful look before thinking of what to do.
Why was he so arrogant?!
“You know what? Fuck you!” I exclaimed, shoving my middle finger at his face and turning to leave.
His presence disgusted me and I couldn’t stand him anymore.
Was this what Anna was condoning?!
Before I knew what was happening, his strong hands grabbed my neck and he slammed my back against the wall before releasing me.
I slid down, biting my lips as I didn’t want my cries to escape.
I didn’t want to give him the pleasure of seeing me in pain.
His pupils dilated and his eyes turned pitch black as they were fixed on me.
I could feel his rage oozing at me.
He balled his fist against his side as he refrained himself from hurting me further.
“You do not talk to me in that tone, young lady,” he bellowed in a grave tone, sending the hair at the back of my neck to stand erect.
“Watch it before I do something crazy.” He stepped inches away from me, breathing heavily.
The sound of his low animalistic growls pierced the night.
I let out a hiss, moving against the wall as I fixed my eyes on him. I was surprised at the source of my strange audacity.
Normally, I would have scurried to my room like a scared puppy, soaking my pillow with tears.
But not anymore. Those days were over.
I was tired of being abused and I was prepared to face my bully head-on.
The consequences didn’t matter.
My eyes remained fixed on his, refusing to blink.
I could see surprise wash over his face as he wondered where my strength came from.
“You know the crazy thing I could have done?” I asked, raising my voice so that my words got registered in his brain.
“Watch you gasp for air to death!”
Satisfaction rushed down my spine at his widened eyes. Disbelief covered his face.
He never saw that coming.
“Feisty, huh?” he muttered, trying to hide his surprise.
“You couldn’t even keep one rule.”
“I did. I walked around with an inhaler as you instructed,” I retorted, pushing my scattered hair behind my ears.
He clenched his jaws, swallowing his anger. “Go to your room and make sure you don’t repeat this again. I never asked you to save me and I never will.” He stated arrogantly, walking past me to his room upstairs.
Annoyed, I marched to my room, kicking the inhaler out of reach and banging the door so loud to vent my anger.
I released the loudest scream I could to ease my frustrations when I entered my room, feeling a bit better afterward.
Jumping on the bed, I stared at the ceiling for several hours as I was too angry to sleep.
When I finally started dozing off, it was already 3 am.
****
I was already awake before Anna in order to prepare for the day and assist Anna in making breakfast for the Alpha. But as soon as the previous night memories played in my head.
I remained in bed, dozing off deliberately.
Screw him!
I was ready to stomach whatever was coming my way even if it was a letter of termination.
Luckily, I had been paid $1. 7k for my mum’s treatment. I would seek jobs elsewhere.
The house was toxic anyway.
Deliberately staying back 2 hours past the Alpha’s time for breakfast, I freshened up, getting clad in the stupid maid outfit.
I left my room, walking to the kitchen with anger scribbled in bold letters on my face.
“Hey, I’ve been waiting for you,” Anna greeted me with a friendly tone but I was too pissed to respond.
“Is everything alright?” She asked after noticing my terrible mood.
“Is the Alpha done with his breakfast?” I queried, ignoring her question and her look.
“You won’t believe it.” Her eyes widened as she started to narrate.
“What?” I asked in a flat voice.
“For the first time in 10 years, the Alpha woke up 2 hours late. He woke up a few minutes before you came and he demanded that you make breakfast for him, ” she squeaked in excitement.
My brows flew up in irritation and my breath hitched.
“He did what?! Where is he?” I asked in a calm but deadly voice. Many thoughts of how to handle the situation raced in my head.
The last thing I would do was to cook for that arrogant bastard!
Not after the way he responded to my hospitality last night.
“Dining room.”
“Good,” I responded, brushing her aside as I made my way to the dining room with my blood boiling in race.
“Is everything okay, Lilith? You are acting strange,” she asked in worry, but I dismissed her with a brief wave before fading out of her sight.
A sneer played on my lips as an idea popped into my head.
I was almost consumed by anger the moment Casper’s figure came into view. He was busy with his phone while waiting for his breakfast.
His scent didn’t help as it worsened my mood.
Taking daring steps in his direction, I stood opposite him, banging my fist against the hard wooden table to get his undivided attention.
He stared at me like I had gone mad, but I was about to show him what I was made of.
“I quit!”
