I dragged the only living attacker as he led us to their hideout. When I realized my kids were truly missing, I lost it. Luckily, Chris kept one man alive, so Devon could control him, which was how we learned of their hideout. Whoever the fuck they were, didn’t know what was coming for them.
Devon and Chris flanked me as we stepped into the compound. I wasn’t scared. That was an emotion I wasn’t concerned about. All I could feel was the deep rage that started from my head and continued down until it reached my toes. I wanted nothing but to rip them to shreds for laying their filthy hands on my babies.
The minute the men patrolling the perimeters saw us, they startled, approaching. Seeing we were just three, they must have thought they could defeat us, not knowing how badass we were.
Devon and Chris went to work while I continued to drag the man towards the door. Reaching there, I threw him on it, causing the doors to fall from the weight.
With the man out of the way, I stormed into the house, narrowing my eyes at the empty corridor. A slight smile graced my lips when I realized what they were doing. The bastards thought they could sneak up on me.
Closing my eyes, I let my senses do all the work. I discovered four men hiding behind me and sent just a small gust of wind towards them, blowing them out, so Chris and Devon could take care of them.
With the men out, the ones in the house attacked me at once. As werewolves, they were fast on their feet. They would have taken me out had I not been strong enough to deflate their attacks. It didn’t even take me more than a few seconds before I got them out of the way. I didn’t even lift my hands. There was no reason to stain my hands with blood when I could control them with my mind. The perks of being a witch.
With the men out of the way, I looked around, my eyes narrowed in a challenge, waiting for another set of men to confront me, but none showed up.
I opened my mouth to call on the ones hiding, to show themselves when I heard Chrys’ voice. I’d heard her cry many times when she was being teased by Blue, to know it was her voice.
I raced towards the sound of her voice with my senses attuned to my surroundings, to avoid being surprised. I needed to keep my senses open in case any of them tried to attack me.
However, I didn’t get attacked until I reached the room where the cry came from. I kicked the door down from its hinges and stepped into the room, ready for another fight, only to do a double take when I saw Imelda the bitch.
“You are still alive?” I blinked, looking at the last person I thought I would see. I should have guessed Kandera was the one at work again.
“Why? Do you think I’m the easy to kill?” Grinning, she pushed away from the wall she was leaning on. “What a pity. I’m not as human as you guessed I was.”
“Not human? impossible.”
“Huh?” she scoffed. “Why is it impossible?” She grinned, her eyes taking me in. “Now that I’m not human, I’m afraid you are nothing but a damned fly to me.”
“We’ll see about that.” I smiled, my eyes narrowing in a challenge.
“You think you can take me down?” she spat. “I have powers beyond your wildest imagination. You are nothing but a petty hybrid who hides behind your mates because you don’t have any skills!”
“Oh?” I raised an eyebrow, intrigued. “And what powers might those be?” I asked, my voice laced with sarcasm. “Can I see them? I bet your powers are so awesome, they will leave me shaking in my bones.”
“And I will make you shake in your bones. You don’t know how powerful I am. Never underestimate the powers of a human turned by a werewolf.”
“Oh, that’s cute.” I nodded, looking like it impressed me while I wasn’t.
“You think you’re better than I?” she spat, her eyes narrowed and her face twisting with rage when she realized I was playing with her.
“I don’t think I’m better than you,” I smirked, giving her an appraisal. “I know I’m better than you.”
“I will fucking make you eat your damned words!” Imelda’s face turned red with rage as she launched herself at me, with her claws drawn. I raised my hands, and a blast of magical energy shot out, meeting her attack head-on.
The two of us clashed, our powers locked in a fierce battle. I filled the air with the sound of crackling energy, and the room shook with the force of my magic. I was the stronger one. I could feel it in my bones, a deep well of power that seemed to grow stronger with every passing moment.
I hadn’t used my powers to the full capacity, so I didn’t even know the extent of my might. From the little I could see, I knew I was good enough.
Imelda was starting to tire. Her attacks were growing weaker, her movements slower. I took advantage of her weakness, launching a fierce attack that sent her stumbling backwards. She tried to defend herself, but I was too fast.
With a swift motion, I reached out and grasped her heart, ripping it from her chest. She let out a blood-curdling scream as she stumbled backwards, her eyes wide with shock and horror. And then she was gone, her body crumbling to the floor as her life force faded away.
I stood there, my chest heaving with exertion, my hands still glowing with magical energy. I felt a sense of satisfaction, of triumph. However, that was interrupted by a clap. I whirled around, my eyes narrowing at the man standing by the door with an amused grin on his face.
Fucking Kandera. The same guy who forced the change in me. Well, I was grateful to him for that. Without him, I doubt I would have unlocked my powers when I did.
