“Amazing!”
As they rounded the corner and headed towards the Vertex, Karlee screamed with excitement and threw her arms around Darnell’s neck, giving him a big kiss.
“Darnell, you are just so cool. I like you so much.”
She breathed softly, “Where did you learn this skill? It’s amazing. Not just in Whiteville, but you could rank worldwide.”
Darnell rolled his eyes and casually replied, “I taught myself. I used to work on a farm. The pigs would often jump out of their pens and run wild. They were fast runners, so I chased them with a tractor. After doing it enough times, I got good at it.”
Karlee pinched Darnell’s waist. “Wild skill? Tractor? When have you ever seen someone who drives a tractor know how to drive a BMW or Porsche?”
“You’re just talking nonsense.”
Karlee pouted, “It doesn’t matter if you don’t tell me. I’ll find out eventually.”
She looked at him with admiration filled with her eyes. “A man like you, I won’t let go easily.”
As Darnell parked the car in the Vertex’s parking lot, he responded with a pained expression, “Can you please not like me?”
Karlee realized she was being too forward and released Darnell’s neck, huffing, “I’m so beautiful, and you still don’t want me?”
She looked at Darnell playfully, asking, “Are you impotent?”
Darnell was furious. “Impotent? Just wait until your period ends! I’ll show you what it means to be a real man.”
Karlee sneered, “Keep bragging.”
“Alright, no more bragging. We had an agreement earlier.”
Darnell parked the car, unbuckled his seatbelt, and got out. He took breakfast with him and said, “I won the race, so you’re not allowed to bother me.”
He declared righteously, “No flirting with me.”
“Fine, no flirting,” Karlee said without much displeasure on her face. “But I’ll seduce you and make you come after me.”
Darnell felt like bumping his head against the car. What kind of person is this? Why was this woman so mischievous?
He issued a warning. “If you dare seduce me, I’ll tell your teacher and your dad.”
“Do you know who my dad is?” Karlee asked with a smile. “Do you dare meet my dad?”
Darnell was curious. “Is your dad very scary?”
“Not to me,” Karlee giggled. “But to many people, he’s a demon.”
Darnell dismissed the thought. “Forget it then. I prefer dealing with fairies.”
Karlee tilted her head and looked at Darnell. “Do you really dislike me that much? What’s wrong with me?”
“Curvy figure and pretty face. You should be grateful that I like you! Can’t you let me have my way with you and then let me dump you?”
Darnell proudly replied, “I won’t let you have your way. Even if you get my body, you’ll never get my heart.”
Darnell strutted like a proud rooster.
A minute later at the Vertex’s parking lot, Frank and Rachael arrived, looking upset. They got out of their car to see Darnell and Karlee leaning against the hood of their vehicle and eating breakfast. Darnell sipped on milk while stuffing a slice of bread that had fallen on the ground into Karlee’s mouth.
“You lost,” Karlee said nonchalantly as she ate the bread. She pointed at Frank and Rachael excitedly.
“If I knew your driving skills were this bad, I would have given you two or three car lengths head start.”
She didn’t hold back in mocking them. “Remember to stay far away from me in the future.”
Frank and Rachael looked grim, but with a dashcam in the car and road surveillance cameras, they couldn’t deny it. They could only grunt,
“Don’t get cocky. We’ll beat you sooner or later.”
Rachael added angrily, “Next month at the Champion Night event, we will surpass you.”
Darnell stepped forward, impatience on his face evident. “Enough with the useless talk. Hand over the car keys and your driver’s license now.”
After working all morning, there was no way he would let go of his winnings.
Frank instinctively gripped the keys tightly. He felt aggrieved and heartbroken as he had bought this car just over a month ago.
“Can’t even afford to lose one car?”
Darnell snorted, “If you don’t follow through with the rules and hand over the car as per our bet, I’ll post the video online, showing that you’re sore losers who can’t pay up.”
“I’ll make sure you’re laughed at and that your woman can’t hold her head up high.”
“I’ll even post your photos and your phone numbers on adult websites and hand out flyers, claiming you’ve got AIDS!”
Rachael was furious! “Scoundrel!”
Karlee leaned against the car and shouted, “Frank, Rachael, this jerk is indeed a scoundrel who’s capable of everything. Just give it up already.”
Rachael bit her lip. “Frank! Give it to him. We’ll win it back sooner or later.”
Frank took a deep breath and reluctantly handed over the keys.
Darnell stepped forward and grabbed them before pocketing them along with his driver’s license.
Frank seethed. “Just wait. I’ll settle this score with you sooner or later.”
Just then, a police car pulled in. Three officers got out and stared at the BMW and Lamborghini. “Are these your cars?”
“You were speeding earlier, suspected of dangerous driving. Come here for an alcohol test and hand over your licenses.”
Frank wanted to explode but saw many people watching. He could only comply with the police.
One officer walked towards Darnell and Karlee and asked, “Whose car?”
Karlee responded calmly, “Mine.”
Darnell pointed at Karlee and replied, “I don’t know her.”
The car belonged to Karlee. Since he didn’t know her, naturally he wasn’t driving it.
After saying that, Darnell turned around and ran off. He suddenly remembered he didn’t have a driver’s license.
“Bastard!”
Karlee was furious enough to strangle Darnell.
After being fined by traffic police officers for speeding violations, Karlee and Frank left the Vertex separately. Karlee had intended to settle accounts with Darnell, but due to feeling unwell, she had to let it go for the time being.
Frank, not wanting to lose face further, also left with Rachael in a taxi.
Darnell, who had been hiding behind a pillar of the parking lot and spying on them, slowly exhaled a long breath. “They’re finally gone.”
“Darnell, why did it take you so long to get here?” a voice huffed from behind before Darnell entered the building. “I’ve been waiting for you for fifteen minutes since I came down.”
“If we don’t deliver the documents soon, Miss Picton is going to blow a fuse.” Lillian, carrying a briefcase, raised her pretty face and stared at Darnell. “When Miss Fanshaw blames us, I’m going to put all the blame on you.”
Dressed in a blouse, skirt, stockings, and high heels, Lillian looked gorgeous. Her enticing features were accentuated perfectly.
“The traffic was a bit congested, so I arrived a bit late,” Darnell chuckled, then pulled out the Lamborghini keys. “Come on. I’ll take you to the Harmony Hospital right now, and I promise we won’t be late.”
“I’m not riding in it!” Lillian snorted. “I’m taking a taxi.”
Darnell was slightly taken aback. “Why? You’d rather take a taxi than a luxury car?”
“I just don’t feel like it,” Lillian hailed a taxi and said, “I prefer taking a taxi.”
Darnell followed with a bewildered look, wondering what had gotten into her, when Lillian suddenly turned and asked,
“Who was the girl you were feeding bread to just now?”
