“How did you know?”
Hearing Darnell’s words, Karlee was slightly surprised and then snorted, “What’s it to you?”
“Of course, it concerns me.”
Darnell grabbed her hand, “You’re on your period. Your body can’t handle it, and your reflexes and thinking will slow down, severely hindering your driving skills.”
“Not only will you lose this race in minutes, but we might also lose our lives. Do you think it concerns me?”
Karlee coldly replied, “I won’t lose to them.”
Darnell frowned, “You’re not planning to keep racing, are you? Can’t we change the place another day?”
Karlee glanced at Darnell, “You’re too naive.”
She reminded Darnell, “You better hope I win.”
“Otherwise, not only will I lose my position as president and this car, but you’ll also be caught by Rachael and tortured by rich women.”
“You can’t blame me. You’re the one who urged me to race.”
“Get out of the car!”
Darnell opened the car door, got out, walked to the driver’s seat, and pulled Karlee out. “This concerns me. I can’t let them win.”
Karlee moved to the passenger seat and fastened her seatbelt. Looking at Darnell, who also sat down and buckled up, she teased,
“It’s already been two minutes. The car’s performance has dropped significantly. Do you think you can catch up?”
Darnell started the car and turned the steering wheel back into position. “It’s rush hour now. There’s still a chance.”
“Besides, do I have any other options? If we don’t win, I’ll be tortured for three days and nights.”
Karlee snorted, “If you had agreed with me earlier, this wouldn’t have happened.”
“Beauty cannot seduce me. Money cannot corrupt me.”
Darnell skillfully started the BMW as he continued, “That’s my motto.”
Karlee straightened her upper body. “Enough talk. Hurry up and chase. If you catch up, I promise not to flirt with you for a month.”
Darnell’s eyes lit up. “You said it. I’ll take them down for you.”
Vroom!
With Karlee’s indifferent expression, the BMW roared like a whirlwind.
“Ah!”
Although Karlee was mentally prepared and her body had adapted to racing to the extreme, Darnell’s sudden acceleration still made her scream instinctively. Then she widened her eyes as the speedometer jumped rapidly like stock prices, quickly reaching 150 km/h.
This speed was nothing on a racetrack but was quite terrifying on a city road during rush hour.
The BMW sped through traffic continuously, more thrilling than the last time she saw him racing.
Under Darnell’s control, the BMW closed distances with other cars or pedestrians in an instant.
Karlee often felt Darnell would crash, but at the last moment, the car would dodge and narrowly pass by.
Her nerves were highly tense. She no longer felt any menstrual pain but gripped the handle tightly as she watched the car carve a path through traffic.
She suddenly realized that Darnell’s driving skills were really exceptional. Why wasn’t there any rumor about this madman in the racing world?
While Karlee was breathing heavily for once, Darnell was humming a song lightly.
Darnell’s singing was rough and unpleasant to Karlee’s ears. She felt pain again.
Karlee glared sideways at him. “Stop singing! It hurts when you sing.”
Darnell ignored her and hummed another song.
Karlee clenched her legs tightly with a pained expression. She finally understood what real pain meant.
Up ahead, Frank was driving a Lamborghini slowly past a bus stop.
He glanced in his rearview mirror but saw no sign of Karlee’s BMW. Smiling smugly at Rachael beside him, he said, “Karlee is doomed today. How dare she race against me with that junk car?”
“Isn’t that just asking for trouble?”
He groped Rachael’s fair thigh with a lewd smile. “Rachael, if we win against Karlee today, we’ll become the president of the Sports Car Association of Whiteville. No, you’ll be president, while I’ll be your deputy. How will you thank me then?”
Rachael slapped Frank’s hand playfully and laughed charmingly, “I’ve already given myself and my cousin to you. What more do you want?”
Frank smiled meaningfully, “Introduce me to your aunt?”
Rachael wasn’t angry. She just poked his head playfully. “You want all Kinaston women?”
Frank drove through another stream of cars but didn’t accelerate further, feeling confident of victory and wanting some challenge by waiting for Karlee’s car.
Then he grabbed Rachael’s thigh again, “I can’t help it. There’s just something magical about the Kinaston family. If not your aunt, then maybe your niece.”
“You rogue.”
Rachael scolded him playfully then pointed towards the Vertex ahead. “Let’s talk after we win.”
Frank chuckled, “Is there any suspense left?”
Upon hearing this, Rachael also giggled coquettishly, feeling incredibly pleased. Karlee was aloof and never raced with her or Frank, always suppressing them at the club. Today, it was a rare race and she was about to win. She intended to humiliate Karlee thoroughly.
Thinking about the moment when Karlee would arrive at the Vertex, admit defeat to her, and hand over the BMW, Rachael couldn’t help but smile radiantly.
At that moment, as she looked back, she saw what seemed to be a white shadow approaching from behind the car.
Rachael was slightly taken aback, rubbed her eyes, and looked again. This time, she saw clearly that it was not a shadow at all.
It was Karlee’s white BMW!
Moreover, to Rachael’s surprise, the person driving was not Karlee, but the guy she had considered a hick!
Rachael screamed, “Frank! Hurry up! They’re catching up.”
“Damn it.”
Frank also noticed the situation. He quickly stepped on the gas and turned the steering wheel to rush forward. “How did they come so fast?”
He wanted to floor the gas pedal to reach three hundred, but there was a big turn ahead before they could get to the Vertex.
If he stepped on the gas to the maximum speed and couldn’t complete the turn perfectly, he would either flip the car or crash.
It wasn’t that Frank’s skills were not up to par, but because the road did not meet the standards, and there were pedestrians who could dart out at any time.
Therefore, when he was more than fifty meters away from the turn, Frank had to let go of the gas pedal.
At that moment, the white BMW roared past the Lamborghini and rushed to the turn with undiminished momentum.
Rachael instinctively covered her eyes and let out a high-pitched scream. “He’s crazy!”
As Rachael and Frank thought Darnell was going mad, the white BMW traced a beautiful arc on the ground, performing a perfect drift.
The next second, the white BMW disappeared from Rachael’s and Frank’s line of sight.
The two had ashen faces, and they both knew in their hearts that they had lost.
