In this line of work, everyone knew the logistics director of the Whiteville Hospital.
The visitor was Chandler. He turned halfway and then locked eyes on Darnell, as if he had found a long-lost brother.
Chandler was so excited that he almost burst into tears. “Darnell, there you are!”
Phoenix Team’s girls shivered, thinking Chandler was here to cause trouble for Darnell.
As the crowd made way, Chandler rushed forward with his briefcase, panting heavily, followed by two assistants.
“Mr. Gregg!”
Seeing Chandler’s anxious expression, Eliezer guessed that he was here to make things difficult for Darnell. He quickly fanned the flames by shouting, “Darnell is here.”
“What’s wrong? Did he offend you? Don’t worry. Tell me. I’m his supervisor. If there’s a problem, I’ll fire him.”
“Get out of the way.”
Chandler ignored Eliezer and pushed him aside. He rushed to Darnell with indescribable excitement.
“Darnell!”
Casey and her team were surprised to see that Chandler no longer had his usual arrogance but instead seemed eager to please and fearful.
As Eliezer awkwardly stepped aside, Darnell pulled out a chair and sat down, leisurely looking at Chandler with a smile.
“The prescription didn’t work?”
“Are you here to ask for compensation?”
“Or get me fired?”
At these words, Chandler shivered and quickly waved his hands. “I think there’s a misunderstanding. It was just a joke.”
“Why would I do that to you? You are my friends. If anyone tries to mess with you, tell me. I will make him pay.”
Darnell leaned back in his chair and smiled, “I’m flattered, Mr. Gregg. What makes you change your attitude?”
Chandler chuckled awkwardly, “I wasn’t thinking straight. Please forgive me.”
Just as Darnell had said, after midnight last night, Chandler tried to engage in another round with the woman in his arms but found himself completely unresponsive. It was worse than before. Only then did he believe that Darnell hadn’t lied to him. Panicked, he called Casey but found her phone was off, making him even more anxious.
After a sleepless night, he rushed to Spectrum Pharmaceuticals as soon as work started, hoping Darnell could help him regain his vigor.
To show his sincerity, he opened his briefcase with a snap and quickly took out a stack of documents, the product catalog and the contract Casey prepared for him previously.
“Darnell, I’ve reviewed all the materials and the contract Casey gave me last time, and now I have more trust in Spectrum Pharmaceuticals’ products.”
Chandler gave a thumbs up. “So I was thinking about placing a three-million-dollar order.”
“If possible, I’d like to sign the contract now without any discount.”
At these words, Eliezer and others were stunned. A three-million-dollar contract? And asking for no discount?
Those who had dealt with Chandler rubbed their eyes in disbelief, thinking they were dreaming.
After all, it was the first time they saw Chandler actively seeking to sign a contract worth three million dollars so readily.
Casey and her team were in a daze. They hadn’t expected Chandler to actually agree to sign the contract and were almost ready to cheer.
Chandler took out a pen and smiled, “Darnell, let’s settle this early. I’ll treat you to dinner tonight. I’ve already made a reservation.”
He pointed at Casey and her team and continued, “Your team members can come too.”
Casey was overjoyed. “I’ll go get the contract ready,”
“Wait!”
Darnell waved his hand to stop Casey and then looked at Chandler with a smile. “Mr. Gregg, a three-million-dollar order is not a small deal.”
“I’d love to sign it right away, but I have an appointment with an important client in five minutes. He planned to place a four-million-dollar order.”
“So I’m afraid you have to wait a bit longer.”
“After all, a four-million-dollar order is more important.”
Darnell looked indifferent. “Of course, you can also find another one to handle it, so I won’t waste your precious time.”
Casey and her team were puzzled by Darnell’s action.
Eliezer saw through Darnell’s attempt to raise the price on the spot, cursing him silently for being ruthless while hoping Chandler would storm out.
If that happened, not only would Phoenix Team lose the three-million-dollar order, but they could also blame Darnell for offending clients and kick him out of the sales department.
However, Chandler didn’t lose his temper. Instead, he laughed, “I came here today specifically to sign the contract with you, Darnell.”
“I only trust you. Also, there’s no need for you to rush to meet that client.”
“I’ll make up for any loss you incur from not meeting him…”
Chandler slapped the contract heavily. “I’ll sign a contract worth five million dollars with you.”
Although he knew Darnell was taking advantage of him, Chandler had no choice since he needed Darnell’s help and had initially tricked him by saying the formula didn’t work.
Faced with Darnell’s demands, Chandler had to endure it. Most importantly, a mere five-million-dollar order was insignificant for him.
“Since you value me so much, Mr. Gregg, it would be rude for me to refuse,” Darnell laughed heartily before waving his hand decisively. “Casey, Bailee, and Shayla, draft a five-million-dollar contract.”
The three women responded joyfully in unison, “Yes!”
A five-million-dollar order from Chandler left Eliezer and others in shock. Once they recovered from their daze, they looked at Darnell with complex expressions.
They couldn’t understand how this guy managed to coax Chandler into signing the contract with him.
The three women felt incredibly proud.
It was a feeling of superiority over others, a feeling many strive for in their careers.
Previously ridiculed by everyone else, now following Darnell made them feel proud and vindicated.
It felt great.
“Mr. Izzard, we’ve secured the five-million-dollar order,” Darnell announced as he saw Eliezer retreating sullenly. “By the end of the month, I’ll secure another five million. Make sure you prepare our commission.”
“Don’t get cocky. You’ve only completed half of it,” Eliezer sneered coldly. “If you’re short even one dollar by then, you’ll lose everything.”
Harry licked his lips provocatively at Darnell while clenching his bandaged fist tightly.
It was clear that things between him and Darnell weren’t over yet.
“What’s going on? Mr. Izzard, are you bullying Darnell?” Chandler immediately stood up for Darnell upon sensing the tension between them. “I’m warning you. Don’t you dare give him a hard time! Otherwise, you’ll have me to deal with!”
Needing treatment from Darnell himself now compelled him to stand up for Darnell. “Don’t think being the head of the sales department makes you untouchable. I can ruin you anytime.”
Eliezer wanted to retort but knew better than to mess around with someone like Chandler, known for holding grudges, so he left after letting out an annoyed grunt.
Harry wanted nothing more than to hit both men but got slapped hard on his head by Eliezer. “Don’t embarrass yourself!”
Had Harry knocked out Darnell earlier, there wouldn’t have been such a humiliating situation now!
Eliezer even called Harry useless.
Harry’s eyes suddenly turned cold, and with a kick, he sent Eliezer flying, knocking over a few people. Then he pointed at Darnell.
At that moment, his eyes gleamed ever so slightly, strikingly conspicuous in the confrontation, like the cold light in the eyes of a wolf in the night.
Eliezer first cried out in anger, but seeing the chill emanating from Harry, he grudgingly shut his mouth.
In his heart, however, he swore to have Brian deal with him.
“You and I are meant to have a fight.” With that, Harry turned and left.
Darnell looked at his retreating figure and the furious Eliezer, and chuckled, “Interesting.”
