The next afternoon, Darnell appeared at the Whiteville Hospital.
He had been called by Casey. Encouraged by Darnell, Casey and the others made dozens of calls yesterday afternoon. This morning, they all went out to visit clients. Darnell was pleased with their enthusiasm, so he came immediately when Casey called for help.
Darnell met Casey in front of the administrative building of the Whiteville Hospital. Although it was already autumn, the weather was still very hot. Seeing Casey made it feel even hotter. Today, Casey was dressed in a white shirt and black skirt, looking both professional and intellectual.
Darnell had to admit that this young lady looked quite appealing when dressed up. He couldn’t help but recall Shayla’s description, which made him excited.
Of course, while he liked beautiful women, he wouldn’t be swayed by their looks. He smiled and said, “Casey, what’s the situation?”
“Mr. Halford, you really came? That’s great.”
Seeing Darnell appear, Casey immediately perked up. She took a few steps forward to pull Darnell into the shade and handed him a tissue to wipe his sweat.
“I came to see Chandler from the logistics department again today. That guy promised me a purchase of one million dollars worth of equipment a few days ago.”
“But the day before yesterday, he suddenly stood me up, and today he kept me waiting all day.”
Casey felt aggrieved.
“It’s okay. Tell me the details of today.”
Darnell couldn’t stand seeing women being mistreated and said to Casey, “I’ll find a way to deal with him.”
Yesterday, Caseymentioned Chandler. He was the brother-in-law of the director of the Whiteville Hospital and also the procurement director of the logistics department. He controlled billions of dollars in medical equipment purchases every year.
He was considered a big client but was known for being greedy and lecherous while also being very calculating. Doing business with him almost never yielded any profit.
If it weren’t for boosting performance and leveraging the influence of the Whiteville Hospital in the medical industry, no one would want to do business with this jerk.
Casey met Chandler at a conference where he had offered to support her as a newcomer. They had been negotiating intermittently for over two months, and Chandler had agreed to a purchase of one million dollars. But unexpectedly, at the critical moment, he stood her up and played her like a fool.
Today, Chandler neither refused nor agreed but just asked Casey to run errands for him. After working half a day for him, he finally said that the deal might fall through.
Casey felt helpless. “He just told me that the leadership is considering using Pioneer Properties’ equipment because it’s better and cheaper.”
“This is clearly an excuse. I’ve already discussed the pros and cons with him before. He acknowledged it at that time and even praised my analysis, saying that Spectrum Pharmaceuticals had an advantage.”
“This deal is likely to fail now. It’s just a bit disappointing after following up for two months, so I called you to see if there’s any way to turn things around.”
Casey’s pretty face showed a hint of disappointment. “To secure this deal, I even offered my commission to him.”
Darnell snorted, “That bastard! If he doesn’t sign, fine! But why make you work like this? Is there no decency?”
“Don’t worry. I’ll get justice for you.”
After comforting Casey, Darnell added, “By the way, did he try anything inappropriate with you?”
“No, probably because we’re in the hospital. He’s been relatively well-behaved.”
Casey’s face turned slightly red as she hesitated before saying, “But if I really want this deal, I might have to go to his house tonight for further discussion.”
“Let’s go meet him.”
Hearing this last part made Darnell’s eyes cold. “Let me see this bastard myself.”
Casey’s eyes lit up. “Mr. Halford, do you have a way to secure this deal?”
As she pulled Darnell along, a glimpse of white caught his eye through her shirt buttons. Her fair skin was faintly visible.
Someone once said that seeing just a little bit was what made something truly sexy. Darnell agreed with this sentiment but didn’t dare look too much.
He worried about getting a nosebleed and quickly looked away with a smile. “Where there’s a will, there’s a way.”
Led by Casey, Darnell soon arrived at an independent office on the third floor. The door was ajar.
Through the gap, they could see a fat man in a white coat staring intently at the computer screen with heavy breathing.
The lenses of his gold-framed glasses reflected several images.
Darnell squinted slightly to identify them and then chuckled. It was an erotic scene.
“Mr. Gregg.”
Before Casey could knock on the door, Darnell pushed it open with a bang and greeted in a loud voice, “Good afternoon!”
Startled by someone suddenly barging in, Chandler lost his balance and hit his head on the desk, crying out in pain.
At that moment, his earphones were yanked off too. The computer emitted sounds of men groaning deeply and women screaming in pleasure.
The shaking screen displayed vivid scenes.
Casey was slightly stunned. She hadn’t expected Chandler to watch porn during work hours. Her pretty face turned red with embarrassment.
Although she often joked around with Shayla and Bailee without restraint, she was still inexperienced in such matters and felt shy seeing these things publicly.
“Her Hot Spring Trip?”
Darnell stepped forward quickly and exclaimed excitedly, “Wow! This is Nina’s new film! Lend it to me for two days!”
He swiftly took out his phone and snapped a photo of Chandler along with his computer screen.
Chandler endured his head pain as he frantically unplugged everything while shouting, “Who are you? Who let you in?”
Casey stepped forward quietly. “Mr. Gregg, this is my team leader, Darnell Halford.”
“I told you already. Our deal is off!”
Seeing it was Casey only fueled Chandler’s anger further. “Why are you still here? And why didn’t you knock? That was rude!”
Darnell stood in front. “Mr. Gregg, you shouldn’t watch porn here.”
Chandler cursed angrily, “What’s it to you?”
Then he remembered something else and lunged toward Darnell. “What did you just take pictures of? Delete them now or I’ll call security!”
Veins bulging on his forehead indicated he was ready for violence.
Darnell sidestepped smoothly while chuckling, “Nothin. Just your video-watching scene earlier.”
Chandler’s face turned pale. “Are you threatening me? You want to blackmail me?”
Darnell pulled out a chair and sat down leisurely while displaying the photo on his phone.
“I’m merely admiring Nina’s work. No threat intended. If you don’t like it, I can delete it right away.”
Saying so calmly in front of Chandler himself, he deleted the photos, leaving no trace.
