Asher
I felt pain as if something in my chest was being ripped out, I couldn’t understand why I felt so uneasy. I was so restless. My mind constantly kept going straight back to Kayla. I knew she was safe with Dami, but I couldn’t stop the nagging of my wolf. It was as though he sensed she was in danger and wanted me next to her desperately.
Fuck!!!!
I should have never left her alone in the first place, I thought that she would be safe here with my sister but I was wrong. I only left because the sight of her and Dami together made my heart grow more fond of Kayla.
Emily and Dami never got along but it was the complete opposite with Kayla. The way they bonded immediately like they have known each other for ages. Seeing it brought happiness to my heart and I had to fight the feelings before I fell any deeper than I had already done.
But now my emotions were all over the place and my heart was telling me that something was wrong. The restlessness of my wolf only increased with each fucking second that ticked by. Kayla was becoming a drug to me, one that I was slowly getting addicted to, and that threatened both my peace of mind and my fucking existence.
“Asher,” I heard faintly through the mind link. It was Dami. Immediately, I leaned forward alarmed. “We are in danger.” Her words sounded ragged through the mind link.
Fear quickly engulfed me, swallowing me whole. My heart hammered loudly against my chest as my brain tried to catch up with the emotions attacking me all at once. All I could hear was Dami’s words repeating in my head over and over. Kayla was in danger and that was the only thing on my mind, I had to get to her and bring her to safety before I completely went fucking insane. I pulled the reins of the horse as I hurriedly made my way towards my sister’s cottage.
Immediately I got there, I jumped down and scanned around there were broken chairs and tables scattered all around. I gave my wolf full permission to share partial control with me. My eyes began to glow brightly, and my nails extended from the tips. I felt the ache in my teeth as my sharp canines lengthened at once.
I listened for any weird noises but I couldn’t hear anything. Whoever was here earlier, had already left.
“Kayla!” I screamed before I could stop myself.
I stormed inside the house and searched all over as I continued to shout her name. I felt my heart began to race when I couldn’t find her anywhere.
How could I have been so stupid to leave her here alone? The main reason why she came here with me was for me to protect and keep her away from harm. Rage and annoyance began pumping through my veins as I realized bitterly that I had gambled with her safety. I groaned internally, placing my hand against my temple as my head throbbed.
“Kayla!” I roared, my head spinning with how many directions I had been turning in the last few seconds. Her sweet alluring scent was all over the house and it only made me more anxious to find her.
“Asher!”
The soft groan forced me to stop in my tracks. I followed the sound and found my sister bleeding on the ground. I knelt down, pulled her into my arms, and held her close to my chest. She had a gravely terrified look on her face, that caused my heart to skip a fearful beat.
“What happened?” I asked. ” Where is Kayla?”
“They took her.” She cried, her broken gaze held so much pain and fear.
Fuck! This can’t be! It won’t happen again! No! Not again! Kayla… I felt my breathing hitch, and my heartbeat was spiking. I couldn’t move an inch, my face paralyzed with shock, my insides crippled from excruciating pain.
I couldn’t hold the pain I felt within me, I wanted to release it. My lips flew open and a resounding growl left my lips from the pain I felt.
“Who took her?” I growled
“I don’t know but they have a tattoo of a trident on their arms, and they said something about payback time,”
Instantly, I froze dead on my spot. For an unbelievable second, I couldn’t move a muscle. Dami’s words punctured my heart further. They weren’t rogues. They are from the Hades Pack. An enemy pack outside the walls of my territory.
They were vicious beasts that infiltrated the capital and foolishly came for my Pack, hoping to conquer my territory. But at the end of the war, the Hades Pack lost more than they bargained for, including the life of their Alpha. They had a strong grudge against me.
They must have found out that Kayla was my wife, and they attacked just to get to her.
I growled ragingly. My anger was fueled by my fear. I shook my head, Kayla. Where the hell are you?
I scanned around but there was no trace or any evidence they left behind.
Where in the bloody hell could they have taken her to?
I stuck my nose in the air, tracing Kayla’s scent. It was faint, but I could work with it. I followed her scent and it led me into the mountains. My heart hammered as I noticed a trail of blood. It belonged to no other person but Kayla.
Immediately I felt a pointed piercing in my soul, and something within me leaped awake. Something dangerous and dark. My body vibrated, releasing a loud threatening growl that caused the earth to quiver. Tiny rocks on the mountain began to crumble to the ground as another furious growl left my lips. My eyes were burning a bright shade of red. I was far from being in control and my only thought was to murder whoever spilled her blood on the ground.
