Malcolm and Tilda were practically Floyd and Jake’s real parents! They were more competent than Rosalind herself. If there was any fault, it was hers. She hadn’t cared enough about them or spent time with them, which led to Jake suddenly running away from home.
“Rosalind, don’t worry. I’ll risk my life to find Jake!”
Rosalind didn’t doubt Malcolm could do it. She felt more self-blame now. After hanging up the phone, Rosalind didn’t turn off her mobile. It wasn’t until the plane took off and her phone lost signal that she checked one last time for any news about Jake, but there was none. She could only hope for good news once she landed.
“Miss Ruell, congratulations! You’ve been upgraded to first class,” said a flight attendant in uniform, bending down to speak to Rosalind.
“… I didn’t enter any lottery.”
“We selected from the tickets.”
Rosalind glanced ahead. She initially didn’t want to go, but…
“Can I access the internet in first class?”
“Yes.”
“Alright, thank you.”
She quickly followed the flight attendant to first class. The plane wasn’t very large, so there were only four seats in first class. Rosalind glanced around casually and saw that apart from herself, there was only one other person in the back row. However, he was completely covered with a blanket, making it impossible for her to tell if he was male or female, though his build suggested he was a tall man.
Finally reconnecting to the internet, Rosalind quickly inquired about the current situation. But the results were disappointing; Jake still hadn’t been found. Rosalind even began to suspect that Jake might have actually boarded a plane back home! This was her worst fear.
Jake was different from Floyd. Floyd had normal childlike desires-wanting candy, wanting to play more, wanting to cling to his mother. But Jake was a child who dared to make his own decisions. With Rosalind not around, Jake needed more self-reliance, so she had reason to believe that Jake might really have boarded a plane home.
In fact, Jake was on the plane right now.
“Thank you, miss! You are so kind!” Jake’s compliments made the lady next to him beam with joy. His handsome and charming appearance made him even more likable.
“Aren’t your parents worried about you traveling alone?” The lady couldn’t help but marvel at how such a good-looking child wasn’t afraid of getting lost.
Jake nodded and pouted slightly. “They’re very busy and don’t have time for me! If it weren’t for your kindness in bringing me on this plane, I wouldn’t know what to do!”
Indeed, Jake had gone to the airport by himself and persuaded this lady to bring him onto the plane. If he had tried on his own, it would have raised suspicions, and the airline wouldn’t have let him board. But by finding himself a temporary “mother,” there were no issues at all! Such a small matter couldn’t stump Jake.
“What will you do after you get off the plane? Do your parents know?”
“I’ll call them!” Jake replied.
The lady nodded. “Then use my phone when we land.”
Jake pulled out a brand new phone from his bag. “No need, I have my own! I’ll find them once we land.”
“Alright!” The lady looked at him and then said, “Can we take a photo together? You’re really handsome; I’ve never seen such a good-looking child!”
