Everyone instinctively thought that Sirena, as the chief lawyer of the legal department and a key contributor to W Group, would never target a mere assistant. But what they didn’t know was that Rosalind was not just an assistant; she was someone Ulric cherished deeply. Sirena would even prefer to be an assistant if it meant being the one Ulric loved.
“I didn’t.”
“Say whatever you want, but everything is already settled. Ulric and Rosalind won’t be together anymore.” Johnny felt uneasy knowing his good friend couldn’t have the love he desired. He used to think Ulric was just playing around, but now he realized how deeply Ulric loved Rosalind.
“Are you sure they won’t be together?”
“Of course! After leaving Ulric, Rosalind not only got married but also had a child. How could they reconcile?” In Johnny’s eyes, Rosalind had been declared infertile, yet she tried to have a child with someone else, which must mean she truly loved that person.
Sirena’s voice suddenly rose, “Rosalind had a child?!”
“Yes, the child is already two years old. Do the math; it means she didn’t waste any time after leaving Ulric. She got pregnant shortly after remarrying.”
Unlike Johnny’s certainty, Sirena had doubts. “Are you sure Rosalind has a child?”
“Why would I lie about this? You’re not planning to go after her again, are you?”
“No, if she’s really not competing with me for Ulric, then we have no issues. But…” Sirena paused and then whispered, “Are you sure the child isn’t Ulric’s?”
Given how deeply in love they were back then, Sirena couldn’t help but suspect.
“No, I’m sure Ulric hasn’t seen her in years, let alone had any relationship with her. For a long time, Ulric tried various ways to find out about Rosalind but to no avail.” So if Rosalind’s child was two years old, it definitely wasn’t Ulric’s. And this information came from Lion, who wouldn’t lie about it.
“I see. That puts my mind at ease,” Sirena said, though she wasn’t as easily reassured as Johnny. She needed to be absolutely certain the child had nothing to do with Ulric.
“You should stop fixating on Ulric and think about yourself,” Johnny said before hanging up.
Sirena forced a smile and immediately called Kennard to discreetly gather information about Rosalind’s child.
…
At the airport.
Rosalind finally reached her boarding time. She quickly boarded the plane and called Malcolm once seated.
“I’m about to take off. I’ll be unreachable for a few hours, but if you find Jake, please send me a message immediately so I can see it as soon as I land.”
“Okay, I’ve already contacted the local police for a wide search.”
“Thank you.”
Malcolm’s voice was filled with guilt. “Don’t mention it. I feel terrible for not being able to keep an eye on him.”
“Don’t blame yourself. Jake running away isn’t your fault. I know how much you care for him!” Rosalind had no doubt about Malcolm’s dedication to her child.
