A child couldn’t run far. Cedric nodded, “Okay.”
W Group, Legal Department. Sirena hadn’t seen Ulric for two days. He was such a workaholic, and with no recent business trips planned, where could he have gone? The more she thought about it, the more uneasy she felt, fearing Ulric might be seeing another woman. She called him several times, but no one answered. Finally, she decided to contact Johnny. Currently, this was the quickest way to get information about Ulric.
After two attempts, Johnny finally picked up. “Can you leave me alone? Is the legal department so idle? I have a pile of work here!” Johnny’s attitude towards her had grown increasingly impatient.
“I just want to know where Ulric is. Why isn’t he at the company?”
“If you need to discuss work with him, use the company’s online system. Why are you calling me?” W Group had its own software for communication and reporting. Ulric was rarely offline, and as the head of the legal department, Sirena had the privilege to message him directly.
“It’s not about work.”
“Then I have no idea.” How could he dare to know? Who knew which word might cause trouble and ruin his friendship with Ulric?
In the past, he didn’t know how far Sirena would go and thought he might help them get together. Now he didn’t dare interfere. Although he didn’t like Rosalind either, targeting her family was too much. Even he couldn’t stand it.
“Johnny, you should understand Ulric’s parents’ intentions. Wouldn’t they want the best for their son? I’m the one most devoted to Ulric and W Group!” Sirena tried to brainwash Johnny because without his help, things were indeed tricky.
“If you two were meant to be together, there wouldn’t have been any Rosalind in the first place! I’ve figured it out; Ulric will never like you. Stop dreaming.”
“Rosalind looks like me! Why else do you think Ulric noticed her?” Sirena tried to distort the facts to convince him.
But Johnny wasn’t so easily swayed now. “I doubt it. His care for you back then might have been because you resembled her.”
“Ridiculous! I lived with the Walters family back then; you know that! I spent every day with Ulric. What does Rosalind count for?”
“That’s still not a reason to frame her.” Johnny hadn’t forgotten that part.
Sirena sneered, “Frame her? Think from the beginning; if Ulric hadn’t desperately protected Rosalind, who would believe her? This situation is entirely under Ulric’s control; I had no choice.”
Johnny laughed too. “Then tell me honestly, did you frame Rosalind?”
“… No, I don’t even consider her important!”
Johnny was silent for a while and then sighed. “Honestly, I used to believe you because someone in your position wouldn’t need to bother with Rosalind! But now I don’t believe you anymore.”
“Why?”
“Because I have eyes and can see Rosalind’s place in Ulric’s heart! It’s irreplaceable by you, which gives you a motive to frame her.”
