Chapter 340: Must be a Child

“It’s impossible. He always completes his homework so quickly, and the teachers at school never force them to finish it! Jake is such a smart and clever boy, the things they teach at school are too simple for him.” Rosalind felt a throbbing in her temples.
If it weren’t for the fact that Jake hadn’t been found yet, she would need to stay strong. She might have collapsed from exhaustion when she received Leonard’s call, unable to even stand now!
“Malcolm, everything is in your hands now… You must help me find him!”
“I will do everything I can! To me, Jake is no different from my own son.”
Rosalind knew he was trying his best, but… Jake had always been a child with his own ideas. Perhaps inheriting too much of his father’s genes, he did things that children his age wouldn’t ordinarily do.
She had just hung up with Malcolm when Tilda’s call came through.
“Did you find him? My brother’s line is still busy; it’s so frustrating!”
“He was just talking to me.” Rosalind anxiously glanced at the boarding time. “Jake hasn’t been found yet, I’m about to fly back and meet up with you, and then we’ll head over together.”
“Okay, I’ve already packed everything for Floyd; we can leave at any time!” Tilda sounded anxious, which was unusual for her normally calm demeanor. Hearing that Jake was missing felt to her like losing her own child.
“Alright, good, I’ll leave Floyd in your hands.”
“Don’t talk like that! What time is it now?”
After hanging up, Rosalind couldn’t sit still and began pacing back and forth in the airport.
All she hoped for now was a call from Malcolm, telling her that Jake had been found. She didn’t want to hear anything else.
Rosalind was so preoccupied with worry that she failed to notice two pairs of eyes watching her from not far away in the airport lounge.
Seeing her like this, Cedric whispered, “Mr. Walters, maybe… I should call Taylor? We used to get along; she wouldn’t ignore my call.”
“What’s the difference between you calling and me calling?”
Rosalind was certainly aware of Cedric’s close relationship with Ulric, almost as if they were the same person! Once the call was made, she would know Ulric was around.
“Then… should I have someone from Eastsun Corporation ask?”
“People from Lion won’t talk.” That was his rival in love after all.
Well, a rival, perhaps.
Mainly, Ulric didn’t want to disturb Rosalind, not wanting her to know he was keeping an eye on her.
Now, she seemed desperate to avoid him; if she found out, she would only keep her distance even more.
“But looking at Taylor, she’s really anxious! Can’t even sit still, and who knows who ran away from home.”
“It must be a child.” Ulric had calmly thought it over, recalling Cedric’s mention of Tilda having a daughter.
Given Rosalind and Tilda’s close relationship, if Tilda’s daughter was lost, Rosalind would certainly be frantic.
“Then… shall I send someone to help look?”
“Let’s not act just yet, follow her and see what happens.”
If it was just a child playing truant, making a big fuss might be too conspicuous and quickly noticed.
It would be better to intervene only when they truly couldn’t find the child anywhere else.
