He wanted to know who the person that “ran away from home” was, someone who could make Rosalind so worried and anxious. He couldn’t help but want to assist her, even if she might not need his help at all.
Rosalind received a call from Leonard. He said Jake had run away from home, leaving only a note saying he was going back to his mother!
Lion didn’t know what exactly had happened. When he asked her, she wouldn’t say. Rosalind certainly wouldn’t reveal more of her secrets to anyone. Lion already knew about her daughter’s relationship with Ulric; she couldn’t let him know about her son too! The only people who knew she had another child were Tilda and Leonard.
Upon reaching the hotel, Rosalind quickly packed her luggage and headed to the airport. She needed to discuss a plan with Tilda, and if that didn’t work out, she would immediately go abroad to find her son.
“What are you doing?” As soon as she stepped out, she saw Lion standing at the corner of the door.
“Lion, I need to go home.”
“Did something happen to your daughter?” Lion wasn’t foolish; seeing her so anxious, he guessed as much.
Rosalind paused and nodded. “Yes, so I need to go back. Lion, I might need a few days off.”
She had no idea how long it would take to find her son!
“That’s fine; you can take as long as you need. I have one condition-I come with you to find him.”
He wanted to be more involved in Rosalind’s life and get to know her daughter too.
But Rosalind refused outright. “No, my daughter is shy.”
Lion felt a bit awkward and quickly said, “I really mean well, no other intentions! I’m also worried since your daughter is missing.”
“I can find him myself, thank you.” Rosalind dragged her suitcase and started walking.
Lion followed and helped carry her suitcase. “At least let me drive you to the airport?”
“Lion…”
“You’ll waste time finding a taxi; my car is faster!”
“Alright.” Her mind was in turmoil; she didn’t have the energy to draw boundaries with him now. She just wanted to find Jake quickly.
He was still so young; if he ran away, it would be easy for him to encounter bad people! Rosalind didn’t even dare think about the possibilities.
At the airport, Lion didn’t say much more. He just helped carry her luggage inside and watched Rosalind pass through security before leaving.
Sitting in the waiting area, Rosalind quickly called Leonard. “Have you found Jake?”
“No! He took his ID and passport with him; it looks like he’s really planning to return.”
Rosalind frowned. “He’s so young; the airport won’t let him board alone!”
“Let’s hope so. I’m at the airport now; there are only a few flights back home, so I’ll wait.”
“Did he show any signs before running away? Did he say anything to you?” Rosalind’s voice was hoarse; she desperately wanted to fly abroad immediately.
Leonard paused. “Nothing really. I just bought him new clothes, and he seemed happy. He even said something like ‘if only you were my dad,’ then went to do his homework! I thought he was asleep after finishing his homework since his room was quiet. But when I opened the door, he wasn’t there-he jumped out of the window and left me a note.”
“Could it be that he didn’t finish his homework and wanted to avoid the teacher’s check?” Kids usually had such reasons for running away.
