Afupshire.
“When necessary, I will hit the bottom, so the funds I need must not be an issue,” Nelson instructed.
The research team of Oconnor Group took notes, waiting for his next words.
He paused and then said, “I’m going to sleep. No one should disturb me.”
The crowd laughed kindly.
Nelson had not slept more than four hours a day for many days. The high-intensity work had him running nonstop; even a robot couldn’t keep up.
He threw himself onto the soft bed, half his face buried in the pillow. He couldn’t help but pick up his private phone, still no call from Callie.
The long-suppressed guilt and longing grew more intense.
He wondered how she was doing now.
Forget it, Nelson put down the phone. Whether it was an apology or an explanation, saying it over the phone was always informal. He would talk to her when he got back.
Then, he allowed himself to sleep deeply.
Nelson slept very well.
Early the next morning, just before dawn, Nelson heard light footsteps in his half-asleep state.
As if afraid of waking him, the person deliberately lowered their voice and poured a glass of water on his bedside table. It was a woman.
Morning is the most desirable time. Nelson’s lips curled slightly with a bold guess.
Only Anthony had the key card to his room. The only person who could get this card was Callie.
Had she come? Was she here to confront him or question him? It didn’t matter. Nelson thought almost joyfully; now they had plenty of time to communicate properly.
The person finished pouring the water, hesitated for a moment, and finally got into bed from the other side, lying beside him.
Nelson did not open his eyes. The fatigue from the past few days vanished, and he felt eager.
From ancient times to the present, it has been said that heroes cannot resist beautiful women. He was no exception; he couldn’t resist any move from his beloved.
Just as the person beside him reached out to him, Nelson grabbed her wrist and pressed her under him, leaning close with a kiss-like gesture, almost whining, “I’ve been gone so long, and you didn’t come to find me. Did you believe the rumors outside? Don’t worry, I never had feelings for Marilyn. I’ve always missed you. Do you believe me…”
Nelson never let himself suffer a loss. As he spoke, he lifted the woman’s shirt and reached inside.
But at the moment he touched this body, his mind exploded, and his expression changed dramatically.
This was a strange body.
Nelson immediately got out of bed and turned on the room’s light. The bright light revealed Charlotte’s pitiful face right in front of him.
Her clothes were disheveled, and tears were streaming down her face as she looked at him with great grievance. “Mr. Oconnor… I didn’t expect it to be you. I went into the wrong room.”
Nelson looked at the chaotic scene before him, his head aching, almost on the verge of collapse.
The desire in him had completely dissipated. He buttoned up his shirt with a dark expression. “How did you get in?”
Charlotte, afraid of Nelson despite her sadness, answered timidly, “Your door wasn’t locked.”
He remembered that he had been too tired last night and had just closed the door casually. Anyone could have come in, not just Charlotte.
Nelson picked up his car keys from the bedside table and said solemnly, “Today’s incident must not be known to a third person. I mistook you for someone else. To you, I apologize, but it’s only an apology.”
