Adrian became furious. He was already threading gently, letting his temper be placed on check. He couldn’t believe that things would work against him so suddenly.
Aurora left him for Patrick. And his best friend couldn’t find another woman for himself except his ex wife. He definitely would be happy that she insisted on getting divorced with him.
He should have read the handwriting on the wall. But his trust in Patrick wouldn’t let him do it. He believes against all odds, that he cannot backstab him to that extent.
While nursing that in his heart, his father had completely made him lose his temper. He kicked the door open violently and stepped in, staring at his father furiously.
Richard saw Adrian and squinted. Has he been eavesdropping on his conversation? When did he become so petty and disrespectful?
He saw his reddened eyes and he said “I’ll talk to you later, Aturo” and hung up. He glanced at his son and the latter’s fisted palm was hitting the other palm hard.
He gnashed his teeth and Richard asked “What do you want?” This act is disrespectful and he won’t tolerate it from his own son.
“I heard what you said dad. Why don’t you give everything to him and his mother? Why did you prefer giving me just 40%?
I don’t need it. Give it to Luna entirely. Haven’t you given her a fortune from the Lester business account? Give her the entire conglomerate, her son is capable of running it for her.
I also know what you did with all of what my mother has. Divorcing her wasn’t enough, you took away everything from her…” Adrian was saying when Richard scowled.
“Get out, Adrian!” Richard bellowed. What the heck! How can he eavesdrop on him and dare to challenge him to question his decision?
Adrian nodded. He would leave, what’s the use of talking anymore. He worked hard, going outside his convenience to bring the conglomerate this far and his father decided to give him something so meagre and give his ex-girlfriend and illegitimate son the rest, the fruits of his hard work?
When he got back to his room, his mood changed. What has happened to his family? Things have fallen apart. The centre can no longer hold.
On one hand is his own troubles and challenges and on the other is that of his parents. This was not how they were. His heart pained, like he was jabbed with a dagger.
How can dad do this, doesn’t he put him in consideration when making his decisions?
Meanwhile , Patrick arrived home. Aurora was dazed. Patrick could afford this type of mansion? The structure of it, reminds her of the Lester family mansion but chose not to mention it. She doesn’t want it to appear as if she still thinks about those people.
Patrick came over and helped her. He carried her princessely and took her in. Aurora was captivated by Patrick’s doting on her. She was impressed, holding him firmly as he carried her.
Luna stepped out and saw her son, carrying a woman. It sweetens her. Patrick has never brought a woman home. Seeing him with one now, she was happy.
But as he came closer, she furrowed her brow, isn’t this woman her dear Friend Ava Leon or better still Aurora Blake?
“Aurora!” She chimed just as Patrick walked into the sitting room and gently placed her feet on the floor. Luna went over and hugged her warmly. She bent over, looking at her slightly swollen ankle.
“Oh, you have a swollen ankle,” she said, making her seat down. She had momentarily forgotten about Patrick. They were talking and holding each other’s hands.
Without a word, Patrick fetched the first aid box and brought it to his mother. In no time, she’d help Aurora massaged it with an ointment and bandaged it.
“You’ll be fine by morning,” Luna declared, offering her a glass of water and an analgesic. Aurora gulped it down. How is she going to go home with this bandaged ankle?
Watching from a distance, Patrick admired them together. The older woman and her younger friend. They looked great together. They fit for being a mother and a daughter.
How about they become in-laws? Mother in-law and her daughter in-law. That’s definitely going to be great. They would live happy lives together.
“Stop glancing at your wristwatch, there isn’t a way I’m letting you off tonight. So you place a call across to Clara and tell her I’ve stolen you for myself tonight…” Luna declared.
“Then I will take your bed for the entire night” Aurora responded. There isn’t a big deal about spending the night with Luna Wesley. They’ve spent many nights together in the past.
“I’ll offer you my room for as long as you agree to stay here” Luna offered, raising her hand in agreement.
Patrick watched from the sidelines. This is how people who love each other behave. The two women hugged each other again. Their hugging seems to have no end.
“Congratulations Luna, for finding Patrick” Aurora chimed, again they hugged each other and wouldn’t let each other go. Now Patrick was all smiles.
“Thank you Aurora. When I found my son, I found my happiness again. It seemed that I went back to those many years that I was happy…”Luna confessed.
She isn’t exaggerating. Patrick brought happiness to her again. She’s fulfilled and has enough money to spend until she crosses over.
“That feeling Luna, cannot be equal to anything. You found a part of you that was missing. I’m happy for you Luna” Aurora declared. And to know that her son had been the friend she’d known for many years.
Luna Wesley smiled. She glanced at her son and Patrick was staring at them, a Megawatt smile on his face. That smile was identical to Richard’s. It looks nice.
But beyond staring at them, his gaze was actually fixed on Aurora. That looks sends a meaning to her. The stares carry a doting gaze on it.
“How about your father Patrick, would you like to find him as well?” Aurora asked, turning to glance at him. But the smile immediately disappeared.
No, he doesn’t want her to talk about him. She mustn’t know the relationship he shared with those people. He hates being associated with them.
“No, never. I don’t need him, he’s not acknowledged by me” Patrick replied. He doesn’t recognise him as his father. They’re strangers, an ex boyfriend of his mother, that’s all.
Aurora was quiet. Was he also a terrible man? Couldn’t men learn to be responsible and not act stupid like the likes of Adrian Lester?
“Is he also irresponsible like Adrian?”
