When Patrick returned to Aurora, he smiled and told her Adrian had a lot, bottled up within him. He just needs to be calm and everything will fall into place.
Aurora doesn’t seem to believe him. The looks that Adrian had and his threats earlier meant he had something against Patrick.
She planned on heading back to X-city the next morning. Her good friend Luna Wesley isn’t aware of her presence in New Jersey. It’s only her momma, Clara Leon that does.
Listening to her words, Patrick feels he needs to let her know that the Luna Wesley she’s talking about is his mother. It would be nice if Aurora knows.
“There’s something else I want to tell you about,” Patrick stuttered. He was deciding quickly. She could know about his mother but definitely not about his father.
“I’m listening” Aurora chimed, eager to hear him out. The way they talk, smile, leaves an impression on anyone who sees them that they’re a couple.
“When was the last time you spoke with your friend, I mean Ms Luna Wesley?” Patrick asked. Mom would have told her she’d found him.
“It’s been a while. I’ve been busy lately” Aurora gave an excuse. She hadn’t been in contact with Luna and the older woman would obviously be busy with the search for her son, otherwise, she would have reached out to her.
“That should be it,” Patrick mumbled, staring at Aurora. If she wasn’t Adrian’s first, she would have been his. He would have readily wished to start life afresh with her. But she was once Adrian’s and he doesn’t want a mortal enemy forever.
“What should have been it, Patrick?” Aurora asked, taking a sip from her juice. She smiled. Patrick stares at her lovingly.
“Maybe she would have told you if you guys have spoken recently” Patrick responded.
Aurora squinted. What is Patrick saying? Told her what?
“What would Luna have told me?” She asked, taking the straw back to her lips to suck from it. Patrick’s words are making her feel there’s something she really needs to know.
“That she’s my mom, my biological mother” Patrick informed and hearing those words, Aurora choked on her drink. She started coughing and her eyes and facial complexion went reddened.
Soon tears were in her eyes and Patrick felt he was wrong to respond to her question when she was gulping down her juice.
“I’m sorry Aurora” he stood up, walked over to her and robbed her back. He took a glass of water and offered her “take water please” he urged.
Aurora tried to calm herself. She was searching for a tissue from her bag while quickly, Patrick offered her a handkerchief from his chest pocket.
As Aurora collected the handkerchief, their hands brushed against each other. She raised her head and glanced at Patrick, their eyes locked and for a few seconds, they couldn’t disconnect.
They both have different thoughts. Aurora admired the fact that he cares. He was doting and felt concerned about what happened to her. An attribute that is alien to Adrian.
Patrick could only think of some lines, repeatedly: if only she wasn’t Adrian before, if only she wasn’t…
“Thanks..” Aurora blurted, bringing them to disconnect. She felt shy. He is Adrian’s best friend. It’s immoral to think about what crossed her mind.
It’s also not a big deal. They’re friends, not brothers after all. She likes Patrick and feels safe and comfortable whenever she’s with him. But then, it’s not appropriate.
“You’re welcome” Patrick responded, forcing a smile. He needs to watch it henceforth. He must ensure the false claim he made before Adrian doesn’t become a reality.
“How do you mean you’re Luna’s son?” Aurora asked. He was also separated from his family like she was. Why is he having a similar situation with her?
“I’m her son. The one she’d been searching for all these while…”Patrick explained how they eventually met and all of that.
Aurora eyes well up with tears. So it’s the same story. She’s happy she met her family and now, Patrick met his mother . Life appears safer when one finds his or her real family.
And if that family is loving like her family, If they are happy to meet him and not a certain family she used to know, where they only interact on the breakfast table. There isn’t a wall of love binding them together.
Daughter in-law is disrespectful to her father in-law and a grandson wishing the grandfather died early simply because he prefers the thighs of a mistress than that of his wife.
Such a family should never have a missing family member. They don’t know what love is, and how can they express what they don’t know?
“I’ll see her tonight, take me to her” Aurora declared, picking up her clutch, they must leave. She must see and congratulate her for being with her son again.
The thought of Aurora ready to come over to his home gladdens her belly. He used his black card, and stood up, walking out together with Aurora.
As they stepped out, Aurora almost missed her steps and Patrick gripped her, holding her by the waist. Aurora placed her hand across Patrick’s neck and a certain person, lurking around, saw them.
The fellow took a silent recording of them together, took a snapshot and watched them get into the car. Patrick had to keep his arms around Aurora’s waist as her ankle hurts her.
He got her into the car before going over to enter the car. As he sat behind the steering wheel, he glanced at Aurora, her eyes shut. She’s obviously feeling hurt.
Not willing to bother her, he stretched his body over and helped her with the seat belt. He didn’t realise that someone was really after them.
“I’ll take you to the hospital” Patrick declared but Aurora said no. “No, Luna is a doctor, she’ll deal with it. Take me to her” she insisted.
In Lester mansion, Adrian got home, took a shower and went to find his father in his study. He needed to discuss the next plan of the company with him. He’s acquiring a large company, he should be aware of it.
But when he got to the threshold, he heard his dad talking to his lawyer. Maybe on the phone or in person, he doesn’t know. But he heard a part that infuriated him.
“… Patrick and Luna get the rest. But Adrian is strictly to have 40% to himself of the entire Lester properties, home and abroad…”
