Aurora was taken aback. Why is she asking her if he is dead? Elsie had suddenly become reserved after the incident that day. She knows it’s psychological. It came to her as a shock, seeing someone bleeding that much.
“No he’s not dead. He’s getting better now” Aurora replied, forcing a smile and talking flippantly, an act to make Elsie believe her.
“Will you take me to him?” Elsie requested. It looked like he would die that day. She wants to see him and talk to him again. Besides, he bought her a lot of play things and her Mommy has asked that the servants throw them out and they did.
“He’s not in X-city anymore. But he’ll come back soon once he gets perfectly alright. Then you’ll see him” Aurora replied. Thank goodness that he’d left the city, otherwise she would have insisted on going to see him.
As for coming back, Adrian will definitely come back again. If not for her, he would come for Elsie or Santiago. And they would stumble upon each other.
Now that they both have met, the attraction has been established between them. As Elsie yearns for him, so also he would be yearning and desiring for her.
Except that she lied to him that Elsie is not his daughter. Did he remember that night they made her? He was drunk, he didn’t know. What gives him the confidence that he really made love to her?
The next morning, Adrian felt greatly relieved. His dad came to check on him and told him he was getting better. The doctors said he was recovering fast.
“There’s something else I want to tell you about. It’s about your Mom. She did things back then that have now resurfaced…” Richard briefed Adrian everything.
There was a long silence that followed. He knew Adrian would be unhappy, especially the part that has to do with having another son besides him. He was still thinking about it when Anna stepped in.
Adrian raised his head and glared at his mother. He doesn’t know what to think about her. She did something so unimaginable to another woman?
“Adrian, I’m happy to see that you’ve improved compared to yesterday” Anna chimed. She’d become like a ghost to her husband. Richard doesn’t seem to notice her anymore. He’d completely start ignoring her.
“On the contrary I’m happy that you walked in here yourself. Tell me Mom, did you ruin dad’s love life in the past, send his girlfriend to jail, abduct my brother and keep the woman locked up for many years?” Adrian demanded.
Anna’s eyes welled up with tears. Adrian also has learnt about her viciousness. Richard had told him about himself, Luna and the son he had with that woman.
“Your tears aren’t going to move me. I just want you to give me a response,” Adrian insisted, his eyes bloodshot. He got out of bed with difficulty and rested his back against the wall.
“It’s the devil that used me. I am sorry”‘Anna said, her tears cascading down her cheeks. Adrian would take pity on her because of her tears.
“Hmmm devil” Adrian grinned, glaring at her with a poker face. Devil is the father of liars but people now lie against the father of liars. That’s unbelievable.
“And do you know what, Sam Kechi now threatens me because of Anna. He wants me to compromise, withdraw the charges against him or he’ll drag my wife down with him” Richard bellowed.
“What, threatens you? What nonsense Mom? You did that to another woman because you desire to have her man? And you conveniently plotted against her despite being innocent?” Adrian demanded, his gaze fixed on his Mom in rage.
No wonder things are going this way with him. His mother ruined someone else’s happiness and he thinks Karma would not visit him for what his mother has done?
She separated a child from his parents and he thinks he can ever have Elsie? He shouldn’t expect anything to get better from that moment on. Nothing is ever going to be alright.
“And dad, you abandoned your pregnant girlfriend and started another relationship with my Mom? How can you do that?” He reprimanded.
“I wish I knew she was pregnant, I would have been responsible for my actions. I didn’t know but Anna knows. And when the baby was born, she disguised herself as Susana Wesley and took the child away.
But now, contrary to what she’d expected, Luna obtained a state pardon and she’s free. Our son has been found. But Anna has to turn herself in to the police before they come after her publicly.
I will never compromise with Sam Kechi’s request. I will ensure that Luna Wesley gets justice for all she’d been through…” Richard was saying when the name Luna suddenly rings a bell.
“Is it the same Luna, an ex-convict that lives at street 49, New Jersey outlet…” Adrian was saying when Richard squinted, that’s correct.
“That’s true. You’ve met Luna?” Richard asked and Adrian simply supported himself back to the bed and sat down carefully.
No wonder the woman spoke ill of his mother the first day he met her. She’s a friend of Ava Leon and happened to be his dad’s ex girlfriend. Something isn’t right here.
There’s no way this case can go unattended by the police. She thinks ill of him because of what happened between himself and Ava Leon. And to know that his father also betrayed her.
His mother plotted against her. Every one of them in the Lester family are evil except grandfather. Betrayers, schemers, cheaters, that’s what they seemed to her.
“Oh Ms Luna. Now I understand something. I’ve met her twice. But she thought ill of me. Why mom?
No wonder I am like this. I know you are not a loveable person but didn’t expect you to be so mean. I don’t have a problem with the fact that you had a crush on someone else’s man but I have so many problems with the way you separated them.
Why did you do it mom? You’ll have to pay for what you’ve done. Both of you ruin the life of an innocent person. A child separated from his both parents just like today, I’m separated from my own daughter.
Elsie doesn’t even know that I’m her father. Ava hates me, she shot me and I almost died, I feel like I even died and only got a second chance to live. All these happened because of the way I treated her back then…” Adrian said, his heart rending into several shreds.
“What are you saying, Adrian?” Richard asked. Why is he talking as if he met Ava Leon again. Isn’t she dead?
Anna raised her head and glared at her son with tear filled eyes. Is he alright? Which daughter is he talking about and which Ava shot him?
“Ava is alive. I haven’t been on vacation. I found her in X-city. She’s the biological daughter of Simon Blake. I don’t know how she did it, but she was never dead. She has my daughter and when I tried to straighten things up, she gave me the humiliation of my life.
Her siblings resented me except Santiago. In a fist of rage, she shot me accidentally. It’s all because I was the most horrible husband that ever lived.
I was the president of the most foolish men and husband and you mom, is the CEO of the most cruel mother in-law in the world. And the result of it is seeing her in the arms of another man and I can’t do anything about it.
Even my daughter, I can’t have her. And yes, why should I have her? Wasn’t my mother responsible for not letting a mother be with her son and a child not growing up under the tutelage of a father?
You have only one option mom, turn yourself over to the police. Do it otherwise I will call the police on you or Sam Kechi does it in the most humiliating manner” Adrian declared.
The realisation dawned on them that their supposed daughter in-law was still alive. Richard saw the pain reflected on Adrian’s face. He knew what it’s like.
“If I had a glimpse of it, that Ava Leon was still alive, I would have ensured I found her and brought her home again” Adrian muttered in a whispered tone.
