Nancy shook her head. No, she didn’t kill him. Her daughter is not a murderer and this is too hard for her innocent heart to believe. She didn’t kill him.
“No you didn’t, Aurora. You can’t even kill a flea” Charlotte consoled her, forcing a hug on her and holding her tightly.
“Listen to me, Aurora. You didn’t do anything to Adrian. You didn’t shoot a pistol at him. What happened was an accidental discharge. It wasn’t aimed at him, but it went in his direction. Is that clear?” Jimmy cautioned.
“Yes, Jimmy is right. You didn’t do anything to Adrian. Stop saying those words, it makes you feel guilty over what you didn’t intend. It wasn’t a premeditated action, it could have happened to anyone else” Charlotte consoled.
Aurora was taken to her room and Charlotte stayed with her. Less than an hour and thirty minutes later, a call came in from Santiago again, this time, his voice was a little more calm.
“Adrian has been resuscitated. Tell Aurora not to get overly worked up. But he’s been taken to the intensive care unit, he’s in coma” Santiago informed.
Nancy placed her hand on her chest when she heard. Adrian was resuscitated but that doesn’t mean he was out of harm’s way. He was still in coma, it’s still a 50/50 chance of survival.
But at least, he’s still alive somehow, his heart now beats.
As soon as Aurora heard the news, she cleaned her tears, sprang up on her feet “I’m going to check on him” she announced but Charlotte held her back.
“No way, Aurora. I won’t let you off, I’d rather you check on Elsie instead. She’s not feeling well at all” Charlotte blurted.
Aurora seemed to remember that she has a daughter. She turned around and went towards Elsie’s room. The little girl was sleeping under the blanket.
“What happened to her?” Aurora asked, checking the bedside note to read her vital signs. She carefully placed the note down and asked “Did she see her dad’s bleeding scene?”
Charlotte glanced at her mother in-law and Nancy nodded, “She did, and she passed out”
That evening, Richard didn’t return to the hospital to check on Anna. He wasn’t at the Lester mansion as well nor did he stop by at Luna’s place. He was with Rodgers the entire night.
Within that night, Luna’s lawyer was arrested. Richard couldn’t believe how being with him has caused Luna this pain. How can she suffer for so many years because of him?
He lives in luxury with another woman and she rots in jail? How despicable he was. No, Luna deserves better. She’s a pure soul, an innocent woman who deserves to be loved.
When it was morning, He got back home. Anna has been discharged and her doctor was home with her. She was restless. Richard spent the night out, and no word was heard from him.
“I want to be alone with Anna” he announced, his eyes reddened. There were dark lines beneath his eyes, an indication that he didn’t have a good night’s rest.
Anna knew something was off about Richard. Did he know already? When they were left alone, he bolted the door and asked “Anna, is this how evil you’ve been all these years?” He scowled.
“I haven’t been feeling well, Richard. I expected you to check on me last night but you didn’t. And now you accuse me of being evil?” Anna twisted it.
“You will answer every single question that I will ask you. And if you dare to lie to me, I’ll give you up to the police like I did to Sam Kechi” Richard growled, every word he was saying came out distinctly.
Hearing Sam Kechi in the police custody, Anna shivered. What the heck is going on? Has Richard arrested him already?
“What did Luna Wesley do to you to make you ruin her life, her career, her happiness, our relationship and then our son?” He demanded.
“Richard, I don’t know what you’re saying. Don’t you know me anymore?” Anna asked in a tone of self pity and blinked her eyes a few times to let tears cloud them.
“Dare you to lie to my face again? How dare you Anna! Your audacity!” Richard thundered, kicking the bedside table and the flower vase tumbled over, shattering.
Anna trembled. She had seen a few times of Richard’s fury but none of it had been so dense and concentrated like the one she now sees.
She walked backwards carefully, how she wished Adrian would be there. He would save her from the fury of his dad. Now, the tears came.
She kept moving backwards until her back went flat against the wall. She couldn’t move anymore and Richard took each step closer to her.
“Richard, it’s no use hiding anything anymore. Really what happened was Jealousy. Jealousy and desire to owe you made me do it, I wasn’t usually like that and I didn’t expect things to go that way but it got out of hand.
My evil acts went in coaches that I have to do three evil to cover up one evil. My scheme was just to ruin your relationship but I didn’t expect that death would follow…” Anna began sobbing, her body weak, and her knees couldn’t carry her, she went down on the floor.
“Why did you ruin Luna, I’m asking you for the last time?” Richard thundered.
“I’m sorry. Because you loved her. And as a friend, I want you to love me too, to be mine as much as you want Luna. I used a poor patient to frame her up…”
Anna explained how she asked a patient that Luna was attending to before shifting duty to take a double dose of the prescription.
She expected a reaction not death. The patient died. She never wanted anything so severe as imprisonment for Luna, just a little distraction to keep her away from Richard so she could get an opportunity to get closer.
But things went sour. She had to pay the patient relative to leave the city amidst the period of investigation. Somehow, Luna got a glimpse of it that she was responsible, but doesn’t know how she got to know.
After that she got Sam Kechi to do the rest of the job. Rather than defend Luna, he stayed complacent and left everything to Richard. She has to get the centre twisted between the imprisoned Luna and Richard.
In his disappointed and depressed state, she got closer like a friend should and the rest was history. And in order to keep Richard, she had to ensure Luna remained there.
“And my son?” Richard asked next. This time, he was holding back not to suffocate Anna. Never in his life did he know he possessed such a level of restraint.
“I don’t know anything about him anymore,” Anna confessed.
