Chapter 91: Toiled with their emotions

Richard kept his gaze on Luna Wesley for a few seconds. Several possibilities going through his mind. Just what kind of a man was her lawyer? Was he toiling with their emotions?
He thought she doesn’t want him around her not getting involved with her case and now, he’s just getting to know that she thinks that same way about him. And as it is, none of them said the words passed to the other.
“Something is wrong somewhere Luna. I didn’t say those words to your lawyer. I was ready, doing my best to get enough evidence to get you out. How can I tell him that I was married and as a result become unwilling to help out?
I wasn’t married at the time. I was actively doing my best until he cut me off completely, saying it was your request that I stay off.
Did he even tell you about the investigation I made so far? I got a few reports that would have helped. Did he tell you that?” Richard stuttered.
“No. He never told me any of such. In fact when I asked him how far about getting me a bail, he said the government has placed a barn on it” Luna responded.
“Wasn’t he there when you got your pardon?” Richard asked. Her lawyer was supposed to be present and sign some papers too.
“No, he wasn’t. A government lawyer stood for me and my file was empty besides sheets of papers containing my name and what I was accused of” Luna responded.
She’s also thinking fast. She hope her lawyer hasn’t been the one who betrayed her the most. Why was her file empty? Didn’t he say he applied for pardon for her, several times within those years so that she can be freed? Where is the evidence of them in her file?
He said he got some anonymous people who were ready to testify to her innocence, where are those reports in her file?
“I’ll find out everything. But in the meantime, you should stay relaxed, everything is going to be alright eventually” Richard Lester declared.
In the Lester mansion, the nurse called for help, she dialled the government emergency number and soon, an ambulance with a siren was heard in the distance.
It was then that Richard received a call that Anna passed out and was being taken to the hospital.
“I’ll have to go, Anna is very ill and she passed out” he informed Luna. He really wants to stay longer with her, to talk about those years they’ve been apart and what she knows about Anna’s involvement in Luna’s ordeal but he had to go.
“What is wrong with her?” Luna asked flippantly. She would have wished that the witch died, but she wants her to stay alive and experience jail terms so that she can know what she made an innocent person go through.
“She has cancer,” Richard replied and got ready to leave. He hopes this is not getting chronic as expected with Anna. This is getting really complicated now.
Luna didn’t say anything else but stood up. She picked up her handbag and said “When should I be expecting news about my son?” Whatever happens to Anna doesn’t concern her.
“As soon as I can” Richard replied and Luna nodded, stepping out of the door and leaving him behind.
When Richard got to the hospital, Anna was being administered a drip. She’s awake but appeared pale and weak. He just glared at her briefly before going to see the doctor.
He was told she fainted from shock and that has also increased the abnormal cell growth, letting it spread across her body further. She’d just reduced the success rate of getting back to normal.
When Richard got back, he wanted to know what brought about the shock. The servants were there, hence he simply asked her if she’s getting better.
He received a call from his assistant to inform him that what he requested has been made ready. This was good news and he said he would be in the company soon.
True to that, he asked the servants to stay with Anna and make sure she’s fine. They could call him if anything goes wrong or the doctor requests to see him.
Anna Lester was being hospitalised but her mind and soul were running around. If Luna is free, she would come to find Richard and the past feelings might get ignited again.
She knows Richard too much to underestimate him. Once he knows things don’t seem normal, he would investigate it. She wants Adrian to come over now, he should be there to defend her when his father comes asking questions.
She’d spent a fortune to conceal the truth. She expected it to have been buried. And whatever has been buried ought to decay and vanish into extinction.
Why is the truth about Luna still alive?
In X-city, when the doctors almost gave up on the CPR, they observed that a faint pulse was coming up on Adrian. This was all they needed, this is a ray of hope, a faint sign of life has returned.
Santiago Blake had called his mom as Aurora was being taken home and Adrian was dead. He died while in the theatre and that means, there’s a lot of things to come after his death.
Charlotte was sniffling. Elsie is in the room, sleeping now, with the help of a sedative. Her father is dead, her mother had shot him.
Nancy Blake was sobbing. She’s too emotional as a woman. Charlotte came and hugged her, both of them now sobbing quietly, the servants watching from a distance.
Something went wrong. They knew a life was at risk, considering the quantity of blood that was cleaned off the floor, blood that kept dripping out on the floor till the parking lot.
Aurora arrived. She couldn’t say a word. She hugged herself tightly like someone who got out shirtless on a cold morning. Her eyes reddened and her hair dishevelled.
Jimmy walked her inside. As soon as Nancy and Charlotte Blake saw Aurora, they quickly cleaned their tears. Charlotte went to hold Aurora but she kept repeating the same lines of words.
“… I killed Adrian, I killed him, I killed him…”
