Chapter 78
Alpha Damon woke up abruptly to the loud sound of an explosion and the first thing that his eyes caught was his wife, Ava, who was also up and tilting her head around the room. His heart raced faster as he stood immediately from the bed.
“What is that sound?” Ava asked as she looked directly into the eyes of alpha Damon. They just heard a loud explosion in their house that woke them up from the bed. She stood up from the bed and rushed over to the cradle’s bed where baby Mira was lying. Alpha Damon watched her walk to the cradle as he could not utter a single word. “What could be going on?” He asked himself as he walked slowly to where their baby girl was lying.
“I don’t know what is going on. I think we are under attack.” Alpha, Damon said in a low tone as he walked to the window, looking outside to see what was going on. “Jude!” He muttered as he slowly tilted his head away from the window. The pack was rowdy as everyone fled for their lives.
“I am not here for anyone. I am here for alpha Damon, his wife, and my little princess. My daughter.” They heard Alpha Jude’s voice loudly from outside.
“That’s alpha, Jude. What is he doing here?” Ava asked with fear evident in her tone as she was still patting her baby who was still sleeping sound asleep.
“What does he want? Did you tell him he is the owner of our baby?” Alpha Damon asked in a low tone as he walked over to where she stood with her child. He took a deep breath as he tilted his head away. His heart raced faster as the minute passed not until Alpha Jude shouted again.
“I would give you both to the count of five to get yourselves and my daughter down here or else, I would come up there myself and I will get him myself. I would kill anyone that stands in my way.” They heard him say, and Alpha Damon felt threatened by those words. He knew he had to go and face him on one and iron out the issue before it got out of hand. He slowly patted Mira’s hair off her face while she was still asleep in her cradle. “I can’t let him come in here and threaten me like that.” He thought as he took a deep breath, before tilting his head to look at Ava.
He tried to arrange the thought in his head before he cleared his throat to talk.
“You have three more minutes. Don’t make me come there myself. That would be the wrongest decision you will ever make.” Alpha Jude shouted, and Alpha Damon felt rage coursing through his body. “How dare this bastard come into my pack and threaten me like this?” He asked himself as he slowly shook his head before he talked.
“I need to go out and meet him. I don’t want him to come up here.” Alpha Damon said in a short tone as he stared directly into her eyes. Her eyes went wide in shock as she looked away for a moment as she did not seem to agree with him.
“No, I can’t let you go down to meet him. I should go instead.” She said and walked closer to him to embrace him. Different thoughts ran through his mind at that moment as he thought of a way to end this once and for all.
“You have to allow me to go to meet him.” He said, and she only shook her head, as she did not want him to go. He patted her back slowly in a bid to make her feel better before he left.
“I am the only one that can put a stop to all of these. Please let me go.” She pleaded in a low tone, and he stared into her eyes before he talked.
“I lost you once before, and I don’t want to lose you again.” He said, and she took a deep breath before she replied to him.
“This is not the time for that. I want you around for our daughter. Please don’t leave us.” She said, and he nodded his head slowly before he talked.
“I am not leaving you. I will always be there for you and our daughter. But now, I have to put an end to all this mess.” He said in a low tone and as he looked directly into her eyes. Tears gathered in her eyes, and he used his thumbs to clean her tears.
“I promise. I will be back for you and Mira.” He said, and she nodded rapidly while he hugged her one more time before he walked towards the door. He stopped suddenly as if he remembered something that he had wanted to say earlier.
“Regardless of what happens, take good care of our daughter. Don’t let anything happen to her.” He said and did not wait for her to reply before he went out of the room, shutting the door and locking it from the outside.

Alpha Damon woke up abruptly, panting as his heart raced faster than normal. He took a deep breath as he tried to catch his breath. “What type of dream is this?” He asked himself as he sat up on the bed still panting. “My daughter?” He muttered as he wiped his face with his palm and tilted his head around to see if he was really dreaming.
“What is going on? Why did I suddenly dream about her today? It’s been well over three months since I saw her. Why then am I seeing her in my dreams today.” He asked himself, taking a deep breath before he came off the bed and walked into the bathroom. He stayed in front of the mirror for a while before he walked into the shower to take his bath.
After a while in the bathroom, he came out of the bathroom and started to get ready for work, still thinking about the dream. “Alpha Jude, coming to fight for the girl?” He asked himself as he walked towards the door when he finished getting ready.
“Good morning alpha Damon!” Princess greeted in a low tone as she bowed slowly to greet him, and he only gestured in response to her greetings.
“What is going on? You seemed disturbed by something.” She asked, making a scrunching face as she waited for him to talk. He heaved a heavy sigh, tilting his head around the whole place before he looked at her to talk.
“Nothing is going on. I am very much fine. I need to go to work.” He said and she shrugged before she talked.
“Okay. I waited for you to come home yesterday, but you came in late. I didn’t know when you came in. I had wanted to have a word with you.” She said in a low tone, and he took his gaze away, checking his wrist to check the time.
“You have ten minutes.” He said, and she took a deep breath before she talked.
“Can we sit, please? Or better still we could talk over breakfast.” She said and there was no way he could say no to her suggestion.
“Okay. Let’s get to the dining room.” He said, and she nodded while they walked to the dining table. They arrived in the dining room after a while to meet their breakfast already served. They started off in silence before she cleared her throat slightly to talk.
“So what I wanted to talk to you about.” She said, taking a pause as she tilted her head to look at him before she continued.
“It’s about me. I want to go for a while. It’s clear that things are not getting any better between us. Perhaps we need space for us to thrive. We never can tell what might happen if we take a break from each other.” She said, and for the first time, she was saying something soothing and pleasant to the ears.
“Oh. I have been thinking of that too but could not make the suggestion. I don’t want you to think that I was trying to push you away from me. I hope we find the best as we go on this break.” He said, and she did not utter a single word as she continued to eat her food. They finished their food in silence and both of them stood up from their chair.
“How much time are you spending away?” He asked after he cleared his throat slightly to grab her attention.
“I honestly don’t know when but let’s hope it’s a short break. I really hope we find the best for us.,” She said in a low tone, and he nodded his head, walking back to his room with a straight face. He got into his room and closed the door behind him, taking a deep breath before he smiled.
“First it was a dream that I got married to Ava and she even bore me a child. Now, it’s princess leaving.” He said in a low tone as he sat on the edge of the bed.
“Today can’t get any better.” He said slowly as he thought of what to do, and then he had the urge to go to where he had always gone to wait for Ava for the past three months but did not show up. “What’s the point? It’s not like she is going to show up anyway.” He said, and stood up from the edge of the bed and headed out of his room, going in the direction of the lake.
