Chapter 77
“What is that sound?” Ava asked as she looked directly into the eyes of alpha Damon. They just heard a loud explosion in their house that woke them up from the bed. She stood up from the bed and rushed over to the cradle’s bed where baby Oswald was lying. Her heart raced faster as she got to her child, heaving a sigh of relief as she met her son still sleeping soundly.
“I don’t know what is going on. I think we are under attack.” Alpha, Damon said in a low tone as he walked to the window, looking outside to see what was going on. Ava patted her child slowly as he continued to sleep. Her hand trembled as she was still not relaxed. “Who would want to attack at this time?” She asked as she tilted her head to look at alpha Damon, who began to walk towards them.
“I am not here for anyone. I am here for alpha Damon, his wife, and my little one. My son.” They heard Alpha Jude’s voice loudly from outside, and she gasped, but it was not much of a surprise to Alpha Damon.
“That’s alpha, Jude. What is he doing here?” Ava asked with fear evident in her tone as she was still patting her baby who was still sound asleep, barely disturbed by the noise around him.
“What does he want? Did you tell him he is the owner of our baby?” Alpha Damon asked in a low tone as he walked over to where she stood with her child. He took a deep breath as he tilted his head away. Ava’s heart raced faster as the minute passed, not until Alpha Jude shouted again.
“I would give you both to the count of five to get yourselves and my child down here or else, I would come up there myself and I will get him myself. I would kill anyone that stands in my way.” He said and at this point, Ava knew she had to go and meet him and clarify everything with him. “She had to let him know that baby Oswald was not his, and he should let go of all those thoughts. She knew that she made a mistake, not telling him earlier than now, but he should not use that as a yardstick to attack her and her family.” She thought for a while before tilting her head to look at alpha Damon to talk.
“I need to go out and meet him. I don’t want him to come up here.” She said, and Alpha Damon’s eyes went wide in shock.
“No, I can’t let you go down to meet him.” He said as he held her by the wrist and pulled her towards him.
“You have to allow me to go to meet him.” She said, and he only shook his head, as he did not want her to go.
“I am the only one that can put a stop to all of these. Please let me go.” She pleaded in a low tone, and he stared into her eyes before he talked.
“I lost you once before, and I don’t want to lose you again.” He said, and she took a deep breath before she replied to him.
“You did not lose me. I have always been here in your heart. I will be back.” She said, and he nodded his head, letting go of her hand as she hurried to the door. She halted her steps immediately as she turned around to talk as if she had forgotten to say something earlier.
“Regardless of what happens, take good care of our son. Don’t let anything happen to him.” She said and did not wait for him to reply before she went out of the room.

Ava suddenly gasped as she woke up abruptly, from her sleep, panting as she was almost out of breath. “What type of dream was that?” She asked herself as placed a hand on her chest as she was trying to feel her heartbeat. She took a deep breath to calm her racing heart as she immediately brought her hand to touch her stomach, feeling her pregnancy. “Alpha Jude!” She thought as she heaved a sigh and came off the bed.
“Why did this dream feel so real? I truly ended up with alpha Damon?” She asked herself as she walked sluggishly around the room. She took a deep breath as she thought of calling Mika but remembered that she had been out of town for the last three months and would not be coming back anytime soon. “Calling would not yield anything.” She thought as she scoffed and sat on the edge of her bed. Her pregnancy had protruded very well, and now she was expecting to have her baby anytime soon.
She took a deep breath as she thought of the dream that she just woke up from. “How did I end up with alpha Damon and even tell him that he was the owner of the baby? We even named him Oswald.” She thought as she arranged her legs on the bed. Her phone suddenly started to buzz, and she tilted to see who it was that was calling her. “Alpha Jude.” She said as she gasped. She recalled his role in the dream that she had just had.
“Perhaps it’s only right that I tell him the truth. It’s better late than never.” She said and brought the phone closer to her to pick up the call, but before she could pick up the call, it had ended already. She wasted no time calling him back, and he picked up immediately.
“Good morning dearest.” He said immediately the call connected, and she shrugged before she talked.
“Good morning alpha Jude.” She said in a low tone, and she took a deep breath.
“I thought you were still in bed, that was why I didn’t call back.” He said, and she tilted her head slowly as she tried to arrange the thoughts in her head before she talked.
“Yeah. I actually just woke up from sleep.” She said slowly as if she were counting her words as she spoke them.
“Did I wake you up from sleep?” He asked, and she shook her head slowly as she grimaced before she talked.
“No, not at all. I was already up before your call came in.” She said, and there was a moment of silence over the phone before he talked.
“How is the baby doing in there?” He asked, and she nodded her head before she replied.
“The baby is doing well. I actually called in respect of the baby.” She said, and he inhaled deeply before he talked.
“What is it? I hope there are no complications. Is the baby ready to come out?” He asked rapidly, and she only kept mute, not uttering a single word as he waited for her to ask all her questions before she talked.
“Nothing happened and no, my baby is not coming out yet.” She said, and there was a moment of silence over the phone before she cleared her throat to talk.
“I actually want to talk to you about something, but I don’t know how to go about it.” She said, placing a hand over her forehead as she thought of what to say to him at that moment.
“What is it? Talk to me, or should I come over to your place?” He asked, and she shook her head before she talked.
“No. There wouldn’t be a need for that.” She said and took a deep breath before she continued immediately as she did not him to talk.
“The thing is that.” She said, taking a pause as she did not know how to say what she was about to say.
“The thing is what?” He asked and at this point, she knew if she did not say it, she was never getting the opportunity again.
“Okay. I don’t know how this may sound, but, the thing is, the baby that I am carrying is not your child. I apologize for keeping it away from you since this time. I was only doing it to protect myself and my baby.” She said rapidly, and all she heard was his laughing at what she had just said. She felt rage building up in her body but decided not to act on it as she waited for him to talk.
“You must be joking right? Tell me it’s a prank.” He said, and she shook her head as if he could see her before she talked.
“No, you are not the father of my baby. I am not joking about it. I apologize once again.” She said and just when he was about to yell at her, she ended the call. Tears gathered in her eyes immediately as she tossed the phone to the other side of the bed. It rang severally and it was alpha, Jude. Just then, her phone chimed and she picked it up to see what came.
“I am on my way to your place.” His text read and she skipped a beat. She became restless as she could not let him meet her here in the house.
“Where do I have to go? He cannot meet me here.” She said, as she quickly got dressed and hurriedly left the house, driving in no particular direction. Just then, an idea popped up in her mind. The place that she had abandoned for a long time. “The lake.” She muttered as she began to drive in that direction. Her phone kept buzzing with calls from Alpha Jude, but she ignored them before finally switching off the phone.
