Chapter 76
It’s been more than a week since Alpha Jude had discussed the next phase of the plan with Princess, but he was surprised as he had not heard any feedback from her since they last talked. He thought of calling her but kicked against the idea as she tossed his phone away to the other side of the bed. He took a deep breath as he stood up from the bed and walked into the bathroom to get prepared for the day’s activity. Not long after, he came out of the bathroom and walked straight to his closet to grab his shirt for the day.
He got ready for work and dashed out of the room, heading to the office. His thoughts soon took another dimension as he started to think of Ava. “It’s been long since I last talked to her.” He thought as he brought out his phone to dial her contact but had to stop as he thought of calling her when he got to the office. He quickly had his breakfast and walked out of the pack house to his car. Not wasting time, he kicked his car and drove out of the house to the office.
He got to the office and immediately went inside, arranging his stuff and sitting down on his swirling chair. Just some moment after he got into the office, he got a knock on his door, and he tilted his head to look at the door before he talked.
“Who is it?” He asked, and he heard a muffled sound coming from outside. From the way it sounded, he was certain that it was one of his secretaries who was knocking. He took a deep breath as he tilted his head away from the door before he talked.
“Come in.” He yelled, and the door opened immediately, revealing his secretary as she walked in slowly with a file in hand.
“Good morning alpha.” She greeted and bowed her head as she approached him slowly. He only gestured in response to her greeting as he went ahead to switch on his computer.
“What are you holding?” He asked as he kept his gaze on his screen. She took a deep breath as she stretched the paper to him, while he tilted his head slightly to catch a glimpse of what it contained.
“What is this?” He asked and finally tilted his head to look at her while making a scrunching face.
“It’s a file that you need to attend to very urgently. You have not been coming to work consistently, that’s why it had to be this urgent.” She said, and he furrowed his eyebrows to make a slight frown as he felt offended by her words.
“What are you trying to say?” He asked in a sharp tone but not too loud as he looked at her directly in the eyes while his frown intensified. She kept mute, not uttering a single word as she took a guess that he was angry at her choice of words.
“This has to do with finance?” He said in what seemed to be a question, and she nodded her head slightly, still not uttering a single word.
“Have you suddenly gone dumb?” He asked, and she cleared her throat sharply before she talked.
“No.” She muttered as she could not look into the eyes of alpha Damon. His eyes were burning with rage, and any little mistakes from her would see her suffering his wrath.
“Keep it and get out. I will look into it and get back to you.” He said and just then his phone began to buzz. He took it up to see who was calling. “It’s now your senses are coming together?” He asked as he saw that it was princess that was calling him. He picked up the call and placed the phone over his ears.
“It finally dawned on you to call me right?” He asked and waited for her to talk, but she took a deep breath before talking.
“Did you try to reach out to me? You gave me a task, and you did not bother to call me and ask whether it was successful or not.” She said, and he made a scrunching face as he brought the phone off his ear to see if it was Princess who was truly on the phone.
“Princess. Do you realize who you are talking to?” He asked, and she chuckled dryly before she replied.
“Of course. Anyway, I only called to inform you that I will be coming to the office to meet you some that we can talk.” She said, and he could only nod his head, as he did not know what else to say.
“OK, sure. See you soon.” He finally said after a moment of silence and the call ended immediately. He dropped the phone on the table and it made a thudding sound. He made a scrunching face before he scoffed, wiping his face with his palm before he talked.
“Why is everyone using anyhow words for me today?” He asked in a whisper as he made a puzzled face, taking a deep breath before he started to nod his head slowly. He picked up the paper that was brought recently to him and began to go through it. “But she was right anyway, I should have attended to this many days ago.” He thought as he brought out a file from his drawer and started to correlate the figures.
After a while, he was still trying to correlate when he heard a knock on his door, causing him to lose focus on what he was doing. He tilted his head to look at the door before he talked.
“Come in.” He yelled, and the door opened immediately, revealing princess as she was in swiftly as if she were not in a good mood. She took a deep breath as she approached Alpha Jude, not uttering a single word but bowed slightly to him.
“What was that over the phone?” He asked immediately as he made a frown on his face while he raised his head to look at princess who also had a frown on her face. She kept mute, not uttering a single word as she stared away from him. He took a deep breath as he leaned backward as if she were thinking of what next to say.
“Am I talking to a deaf person? Why are you quiet?” He asked, and she tilted her head slowly to look at him before she talked.
“Don’t haul insults on me, please.” She said, and his frown quickly transformed into a shock as he raised both eyebrows and his mouth took a slight “o” shape.
“I can see that you are ready to make a grave mistake, and I will gladly support you.” He said, and his frown came e back to his face. He was boiling in rage as he stared at her from his seat. He felt as if he should beat her up and chase her out of her office. “How dare she talk to me like that?” He asked himself as he exhaled heavily to calm his nerves.
“I see no reason why you should be angry here. I am obviously the one who is supposed to be angry here, not you. What are you angry about? You don’t do anything other than sit somewhere and command me to do things. You don’t even call Ava to try to pull her towards you, but you expect me to do all the work?” She asked rapidly, and he knew immediately where she was heading. He smirked, not uttering a single word as he looked away for a moment before he brought back his gaze to look at her.
“I know I messed up the plan earlier, but that’s not a yardstick for you to leave the whole work on the plan to me. I am tired of it all.” She said, and Alpha Jude could not take it anymore, so he had to cut in with a yell.
“Would you close that thing you call a mouth? How dare you speak to me in such a manner? Do you think this is Alpha Damon? What the hell is wrong with you?” He asked not giving her space to answer any of his questions as he said them rapidly. The frown on his face intensified as he stared fiercely at her.
“What has come over you? Simple task, you just could not complete. And then I gave you another chance, now you are here to play the blame game?” He asked, and she opened her mouth to talk, but he yelled at her to keep her quiet.
“You don’t get to shut me up when I want to talk. All I came here to tell you is that, I am no longer in any deal with you. I will find a way to get him myself. You find a way to get Ava too, and if she interferes or meddles in my affairs, I will show her the stuff that I am made of.” Princess said rapidly, standing up from her seat as she walked out of his office.
“You would not do anything to Ava.” He tried to say, but before he could complete what he wanted to say, she banged the door hard on him, and he only scoffed, trying all means to keep himself glued to his chair and not go after her. He took a deep breath to calm his racing heart, but it only got worse. “Something is not right.” He said in a low tone as he stood up from his chair.
