Chapter 79
Ava got to the lake faster than she expected to get there. The water was calm, and she first breathed in deeply while closing her eyes, as if she were in some form of yoga session. She walked slowly from one spot to another as she tried to let go of all the thoughts in her head. “Ava, it was just a dream. Just a dream.” She kept repeating to herself until she felt weak in the knees and finally decided to sit down on the grass to take a break from walking around. Her eyes fell on her big bump and just then she heard rustling leaves and footsteps approaching, causing her heart to race faster as she tried to get up but could not.

Alpha Damon got into the woods and started to follow the mark that he had earlier made, as he did not want to forget the road that led to the lake again. He slowly lowered his pace as he got closer, not wanting to attract attention in case anyone was there. As the lake was visible, his eyes caught Ava as she paced up and down the side of the lake as if she were troubled by something. He could not help but focus on her baby bump as she walked up and down. Suddenly, she sat down and that was when. He deemed it fit to go and meet her.

Ava gasped as her gaze fell on Alpha Damon. She tried to stand up from the ground but could not as her bump was the obstacle that restricted her from getting on her feet. Alpha Damon went closer to her and gave her a helping hand, putting her back on her feet, while she took a few steps backward before she talked.
“Thank you.” She muttered, and alpha Damon only stared at her in admiration. Different thoughts ran through his mind as he stood there. It was as if his arms were yearning for her, as he wanted to hold her in his arms.
“So it was you all along.” She finally broke the silence, and he tilted his head from her baby bump to look at her face. She felt something within her move as they made eye contact, which made her remove her gaze immediately. “What just happened?” She asked herself. Alpha Damon tried to take a few steps forward, but she went backward in an attempt to maintain the distance. He only lowered his head and shook it gently as he thought of what to say.
“It’s been six months, Ava. Six whole months and we are still like this? I mean, if I want to harm you or your baby. I would have done that while you weren’t able to stand up. I helped you up.” He explained, and she kept mute for a while, thinking of what next to say.
“Were you stalking me?” She asked, and his heart skipped a beat. For a moment, his head was blank, and he could not think of anything straight.
“Technically, I was, and that was because I did not realize how much I cared about you until you left the office on leave.” He explained, and she gradually looked away for a moment as she thought of what next to ask. “If only he knew how much I missed him too. I wish I could tell him that he is the owner of the baby inside of me.” She thought for a moment before the silence was broken by Alpha Damon as he began to talk.
“Ever since I discovered that you always come here to rest, I kept coming here to check whether you were here, but since you left work, you never come here, so I stopped coming about a month ago.” He said, and she kept staring at him. Her eyes focused on his lips as he watched it move while he was talking.
“When did you get to know that I came to this place?” She asked in a low tone, and he heaved a sigh, tilting his head away before he talked.
“The night that I got to know that you were pregnant, I left home in anger and did not know where I was headed. Until I found myself here. I caught your scent that night, but I ignored it as I thought my instinct was playing a prank on me.” He explained, and her eyes went wide open as she heard what he had just said. “So it was him who was angry that night. It was him I saw.” She thought for a moment before she cleared her throat to talk.
“You said you last came here a month ago. What brought you here today?” She asked, and he inhaled deeply as he wanted to take a step forward but retracted as he did not want her to take a step away from him again. She noticed what he did, and she took a step closer to him, but he did not notice as he looked elsewhere when he did.
“The thing is. I came here today, not expecting to see you at all. I came to clear my head and just sort things out in my head. I had a dream that felt so real last night, and I just came here to think it through.” He said, and she made a scrunching face as she heard what he had just said. “A dream that felt so real? That’s the same thing I had last night.” She thought.
“A dream? I had one too, that felt so real. Although it was not what brought me here, it led to what brought me here.” She said, and his heart skipped a beat. “Could it be that we had the same dream?” He asked himself as he stared into her eyes deeply.
“How did yours go?” She did not know when she asked, but she did not regret her actions.
“In that dream. We were married.” He said, and she gasped, cutting him short immediately as she chipped in.
“We had a child.” She said, and he nodded his head rapidly as he was quite shocked that she knew about his dream.
“Yeah. A girl and her name was Mira.” He said, and she shook her head slowly, making a scrunching face before she talked.
“No. It was a boy and his name was Oswald.” She said, and he shook his head slowly. “Why a different child?” He asked himself before he continued to talk.
“We were attacked.” He said sharply, and again she cut him short.
“By alpha Jude, as he demanded for his child.” She said, and he shook his head slightly before he talked.
“Yes. I didn’t know if I was able to stop him. I woke up before I could.” He said, and she made another scrunching face as it was different from her own dream.
“No. I was the one who went to meet him.” She said, pointing towards herself.
“So we practically had the same dream, except for the fact that the child was a girl in mine and a boy in yours. Also, you went to meet him in yours while I went in mine.” He said slowly as if he were counting his words as he spoke them. Ava only looked at him, taking a deep breath as her mind wandered off in thoughts.
“There has to be a meaning to these dreams.” She said in a low tone as she looked away from him. “Could this be the best time to tell him about the ownership of the baby?” She asked herself but could not provide answers before he started to talk.
“Ava, I know I have done a lot of ugly things in the past. Some of which hurt you dearly, but I realize my mistakes already, and I have been working on myself to be a better person for you. I do not care about your past they are behind already. What I care about is the present and the future.” He said taking a break as he started to move closer to her, but she did not take any step backward.
“Ava, I love you and each time I remember that I had to make you go through all that pain, I feel my heart aching and sometimes the only way I get cured is by thinking of the way you smile.” He said, and Ava could feel her heart melting with his words. She opened her mouth to talk to him, but he did not let her as he still had more to say.
“I don’t care if I am not the father of the baby you are carrying. I am ready to be her father or his father, according to your dream.” He said, and she chuckled softly, tilting her head away slowly.
“Yes. I want you in my life, Ava. Please come back, and I will make up for the wrong that I have done.” He said and took another step forward until he was close enough to her to put his hand on her shoulder. The only thing that created distance between them was her bump.
“I have something to tell you.” She said in a low tone, and he nodded his head as he looked at her in the eyes before he talked.
“Please don’t say no.” He said in a deep voice as he took a deep breath.
“That’s not it. The baby… is… yours.” She stuttered, and his eyes went wide open as he stood there in shock unable to believe his ears. “What did I just hear?” He asked himself as he still stared at her in shock. It was as if his mouth were glued, and he could not open it to talk. Just then, she felt a sharp pain and she yelled.
“I think the baby is coming.” She said in a low tone as she was in pain. He held her and carried her. He was confused about the road to follow as he could still not say anything.
“Over there. I brought my car.” She said and pointed in the direction where she packed her car. He got there not long after and zoomed off to the clinic.

“Congratulations. She has given birth successfully.” The doctor said and Alpha Damon could not contain the happiness within him.
“Can I see her and the baby?” He asked, and the doctor made a scrunching face before she talked.
“Babies. A boy and a girl.” She said and his excitement elevated.
“Sure you can see them.” He said, and they walked into her ward where she lay. He went straight to her first, giving her a kiss on her forehead and on her lips, before he went to see the babies. “Oswald and Mira.” He said as he stared at them with excitement written all over his face.
