Chapter 73
The morning came earlier than Alpha Jude had expected, especially after spending most of his time last night, thinking about the next phase of their plan. He squinted in response to the light that came in through the window, heaving a heavy sigh as he rolled to the other side of the bed before he opened his eyes widely. He blinked rapidly, yawning as he stretched out his arms before he slowly sat up on the bed. “Why is it morning already? I did not even have enough sleep.” He said to himself as he grabbed his phone to check what the time was.
“The time is far gone. I don’t think I will make it to the office today. I will just call them and notify them that I won’t be coming today.” He thought as he scrolled through his contacts in search of his secretary’s contact. He dialed her contact and placed the phone over his ears to talk. It rang for a moment before the call connected.
“Hello, alpha. Good morning.” She said, and he exhaled rapidly with his mouth taking the “o” shape before he talked.
“Yes. How are you this morning?” He asked and tilted his head away from where he was looking at initially.
“I am fine. I was just about to call you but you have not arrived at the office. I hope everything is okay?” She asked, and Alpha Jude nodded his head slightly as if she could see him do it before he inhaled deeply, ruffling his head with his other hand.
“Okay. I called to tell you that I won’t be available at the office today. I slept late, and now I am feeling kind of sick. I need to get myself checked in the clinic.” He said and took a deep breath as he stood up from the bed.
“Oh. Sorry about that alpha, Jude. I hope you recover soon.” She said, and he nodded again, taking a deep breath before he talked.
“Thank you. Make sure the office runs smoothly. I hope to be there by tomorrow.” He said, and there was a moment of silence over the phone before she talked.
“Okay, Alpha. We will be expecting you tomorrow. Get well soon.” She said, and he brought the phone off his ears to end the call. He inhaled deeply, closing his eyes before he exhaled heavily, trying to think of what next to do.
“First thing first. I need to get into that bathroom and wash myself up.” He said loudly to himself as if he were having a conversation with himself. He walked slowly into the bathroom, taking off his night dress before he went under the shower.
Not long after, he was done taking his bath and he came out of the bathroom, walking straight to his bed to sit on the edge, heaving a heavy sigh. He wiped his face with his palm and sank his fingers into his hair, ruffling it gently. Shortly after, a knock came on his door, and he tilted his head to look at the door immediately as he wondered who was there.
“Come in.” He yelled, and the door opened immediately, revealing a guard as he walked in swiftly and bowed to greet him.
“Good morning, alpha Jude.” He greeted in a low tone, and he gestured in response, raising one of his hands.
“What brought you here this morning?” He asked in a sharp tone as he tilted his head away from him for a moment.
“I just came to check up on you. We did not see you leave the pack for work today.” He said, and Alpha Jude chuckled dryly as he lowered his head for a moment before he raised it to talk.
“Thank you. I won’t be going to work today. I want to take a day off.” He said, and the guard bowed his head, heaving a sigh as he did not say anything more.
“Tell the maid to serve my breakfast and bring it to my room.” Alpha, Jude said, and the guard nodded his head rapidly as he bowed his head to greet him before turning around to leave. He walked out of the room rapidly, shutting the door behind him gently. Alpha Jude leaned backward, as he was feeling lazy to get to his closet and get dressed up. After a moment, he grunted lightly, getting up from his bed and walking straight to the closet to get dressed. Not long after, a knock came on his door and he guessed what it was his food that was brought.
“Come in.” He yelled, and the door opened immediately revealing a maid as she held a tray in hand and walked in gently so as not to spill the tea in the jug.
“Good morning, alpha Jude.” She greeted and bowed slightly, but Alpha Jude was busy in his closet searching for a dress to wear. He did not say a single word in response to her greetings, neither did he gesture in response to her.
She stood there with the tray in hand until he tilted his head away from the closet and walked towards the bed where she stood, and then he cleared his throat to talk.
“Place it on the table.” He said, and she bowed slightly, walking towards the table to drop the food. She walked back to the alpha and bowed her head before walking out of the room and shutting the door gently. Alpha Jude heaved a heavy sigh as he began to dress. Not long after, he was done dressing, and he walked rapidly to the table where his food was placed and sat down. He started to eat and after a while of eating in silence, he covered the remaining and stood up from there to his bed.
He lay on his bed and thought of what next to do. “I should call Princess to meet here in the pack.” He thought and grabbed his phone to make the call, placing the phone over his ear to talk as the call connected.
“Good morning,” Princess said in a low tone over the phone, and Alpha Jude took a deep breath as he switched position on the bed.
“Good morning. I can see you are having a good morning.” He said, and she chuckled, heaving a sigh before he talked.
“What made you say so?” She asked and Alpha Jude, looked away from the ceiling before he talked.
“Nothing. I just wanted to inform you that we are meeting to talk about the next phase of the plan today.” He said, taking a pause as he gulped. Before he could continue what he was saying, Princess had already started to talk.
“Okay. I will be on my way very soon.” She said, and Alpha Jude shook his head slowly as if she could see him before he cleared his throat slightly to talk.
“No. You are not meeting me in the office today. We are meeting in my pack house.” He said, and he heard her gasp in shock before she talked.
“Why, if I may ask? What’s wrong with meeting at your office?” She asked, and he only inhaled deeply as he thought of what to say to her.
“I woke up late today. So I could not make it to the office.” He said and she laughed slightly before she talked.
“What happened?” She asked, and he took a deep breath before he talked.
“Nothing. I will be expecting you here soon. Don’t stay long. We need to step up our game if we are ever going to achieve our aim.” He said.
“Yes. Yes, I will be there soon.” She said sharply, and he nodded his head, bringing the phone off his ear to end the call. He exhaled heavily through his mouth as he tossed his phone to the other side of the bed, closing his eyes as he waited for Princess to arrive.
After some time, his phone started to buzz, and he picked up his phone to look at who was calling. “Princess.” He muttered as he picked up the call and placed it over his ear to talk.
“Are you here yet?” He asked immediately he placed the phone over his ears.
“Yes. I am in the sitting room.” She said, and he chuckled, taking a deep breath before he talked.
“Come up to the room. We can’t talk about something like that in the open.” He said, and there was a moment of silence over the phone. He noticed that she was not comfortable with the idea of coming to his room, but she had no choice. She needed alpha Damon more than he needed Ava. Not long after, he heard a knock on his door and he chuckled softly, walking to the door to open the door.
“What took you so long?” He asked, and she only shook her head as she walked inside the room, standing just before she reached the bed.
“Sit down and stop all this acting.” Alpha, Jude said in a sharp tone, and she shrugged slightly before she sat on the edge of the bed.
“I am not comfortable being here in your room. Can we hasten this up and let me be on my way?” She asked, and Alpha Jude nodded his head as different thoughts ran through her mind. He took a deep breath as he walked slowly towards her, giving her a straight stare for a moment before he talked.
“So you actually believe that you are here to discuss the next phase of the plan?” Alpha Jude asked in a rather low tone as he kept a straight face.
