Chapter 74
Ava woke up and slowly opened her eyes while she rolled to the other of her bed. For the first time in ages, she did not have to bother about going to work. She heaved a heavy sigh as she yawned, stretching out her arms as she slowly sat up on the bed. She tilted her head around the whole room as she thought of what to do for the day. “Mika is definitely going to work. What would I do today to kill time?” She asked herself as she slowly brought her fingers to tap on her lips.
Heaving a sigh and grunting, she slowly got off the bed and walked slowly into the bathroom as she wanted to ease herself. She eased herself and on her way out, she stopped in front of the mirror, placing two fingers over her eye and opened it widely as she was examining her eyes. She did the same for the second eye and then heaved a sigh as she dropped her gaze to her protruded stomach, placing a hand over it and rubbing it gently while she stared at it in the mirror. Her heart raced faster as different thoughts ran through her mind at that moment.
“I feel slightly guilty for not letting your father know about you yet. I don’t know if it’s the right thing, but I am certain that I am trying to protect you from him. He is not to be trusted, especially after showing all those traits to me. It’s only right that I keep you away from him. I will raise you to the best of my ability and also if at all I can’t do it alone, I promise to look for the best father for you. I promise.” She said slowly as if she were counting her words as she spoke them. She talked in a low tone as though she were running out of breath, fighting off the tears that threatened to escape her eyes.
Her eyes went up a bit, and she noticed some changes in her breast. They became fuller than they initially were before. She cupped both of them in her hands and squeezed gently as she chuckled lightly. She lifted her dress to see her bare breast in the mirror. Taking a deep breath, she cupped her bare beast and hung the nipple in between her fingers, causing her to feel a tingling sensation around her breast. After a while of examining her breasts, she pulled down her cloth to cover it and walked back into her room.
She felt her stomach rumbling, and she knew it was time to eat breakfast. For some days now, she had been eating extra. “Perhaps it’s because of the pregnancy hormones.” She thought as she took a deep breath, thinking of what to eat. “I had no idea that this is how a pregnancy works. So many ups and downs. What do I even want to have for breakfast?” She asked herself and walked to her bed to sit. She thought for a while but could not come up with anything at all, and then she thought of calling Mika.
She picked up her phone and scrolled through her contacts, looking for Mika’s contact. As she did that, her gaze suddenly fell on a contact that caught her attention, and she paused immediately to think. It was Alpha Jude’s contact. She thought for a moment, the last time they spoke, and she promised to call him back but never did. She stared at the contact for a moment, contemplating whether to call him or just ignore it and go on to call her best friend. After a while of thinking, she decided to let it go and call her best friend instead.
“Hello, Mika.” She said in a low tone, immediately the call connected, and she placed the phone over her ear. She leaned backward to lay on her back and rested her head on the pillow.
“I am fine. You are up already? I thought I told you to take your time. Sleep until the evening. It’s a free day whenever.” Mika said, and Ava could not help but chuckle as she took a deep breath, thinking of what next to say to her.
“I tried, but I could not stay asleep. But I would not deny the fact that I felt a lot better than before. I never knew I could be this free. Free from all these dramas and I get to live one day without any of those things that disturb my heart.” Ava explained and there was a moment of silence over the phone as both of them kept mute.
“I like the sound of that. So what’s up for today?” Mika asked in a low tone, and Ava made a scrunching face as if she were trying to think of something. She finally heaved a sigh before she talked.
“Nothing. I don’t even know what to do right now. I just lay on my bed and lazy to do anything. I am hungry and I can’t cook.” Ava said, and she heard Mika, took a deep breath before she talked.
“Hungry? Why can’t you cook? You know you are not the only one, right? There are two of you now. You know that, right?” She asked, and Ava chuckled, nodding her head as if Mika could see her.
“Yes, I am hungry and yes, I know it’s two of us. But you know if I could cook, I would have done that since. I am lazy to get up from the bed.” Ava said slowly as if she were counting her words as she spoke them.
“What are you craving?” Mika asked, and Ava’s eyes went wide as she heard what Mika had just asked. “Is she going to bring it here?” She asked herself before she cleared her throat to talk.
“I don’t even know what I want to each. Anything to quench my hunger.” She said and there was a moment of silence over the phone for a moment before she heaved a sigh to talk.
“Wait! Are you coming over to the house?” She asked and waited anxiously for her to talk.
“No. I am sending someone over to bring food for you.” She said, and Ava felt a pain in her heart, disappointed at what her friend had just said.
“For a moment, I thought that you were going to come here. But it’s all good. Thank you for the food in advance.” Ava said in a low tone as if she were whispering.
“Are you sad about me not coming?” Mika asked and Ava only shook her head slowly as she did not know what to say at that moment. She knew she was not supposed to be angry because Mika was at work, but then she just could not help it.
“No. I understand that you are at work.” She said and took a deep breath as she adjusted to lay on her other arm.
“Don’t worry. The food will arrive in a bit. I will see you later. I have to do something immediately.” Mika said in a low tone, and she only nodded her head as she brought the phone off her ears to end the call. Her mind wandered off to the event that happened yesterday as she thought of the way she felt when he held her hand. “Why did I feel such a way?” She asked herself as she slowly sat up on the bed. “Was it because he is the father? Did he feel such a way too?” She asked herself as she stood up from the bed and started to pace around the room slowly.
Her heart raced faster as she thought of the possibility for him to feel the same way she felt. She tried to shake the thought off her mind, but as she tried to, she kept thinking about it. Just then, her phone started to buzz, and she walked over to where it was, picking it up to see who was calling. “Why is Mika calling again?” She asked herself as she picked up the call again and placed the phone over her ear.
“Hello, Mika.” She said immediately in a sharp tone.
“She said the front door is locked. Can you get the door for her?” Mika said in a low tone as if she were whispering, and then Ava scoffed as she looked at the door for a moment before she started to walk towards it.
“There is a doorbell there. Why did she not ring it?” She asked loudly as she brought the phone off her ears, ending the call immediately. She walked to the front door and opened the door. Her heart skipped a beat as she was shocked to see that Mika stood in front of the door.
“What the fuck!” She exclaimed as her eyes went wide. Mika walked in with a bright smile on her face as she did not say anything.
“I thought you said you would not be coming,” Ava said slowly as she looked at her, still with shock on her face.
“Yeah. I only wanted to surprise you.” Mika said as both of them walked into the room.
“By the way, what did you get for me?” She asked as she grabbed the bag from Mika and looked through to see what was inside.
“Oh!” She exclaimed as she saw what was inside the bag.
“Why are you full of surprises today?” She asked and just as Mika was about to talk. Ava’s phone began to buzz. She went ahead to look at who was calling, and both of them gasped as they saw who it was that was calling.
