Chapter 69
Not long after, alpha Damon arrived at the office and went straight to his office. Each time that his mind tried to wander off to Ava’s thought, he only tried to shake it off. He sat down on his chair, swirling to the left and back to the right repeatedly as he thought of what to do. His mind wandered off to the letter that he had asked his secretary to prepare and wondered whether she had prepared it or not. He stood up gently from his chair, intending to walk out of the office to his secretary, but when he was at the door, he changed his mind.
Walking back to his chair, he could not help but constantly think about Ava and how she was pregnant for a stranger. It was hard for him to take in the whole issue, but he was determined to try. Not long after, he sat down on his seat, taking a deep breath while he did that. “Letting her go would only give her more time to go and stay with the father of the child. I don’t think that would be a good idea.” He thought, bringing his fingers to tap on his lips slowly.
“But I can’t wait for her baby bump to grow into a full pregnancy, knowing fully well that she was fucked by another man. A total stranger.” He thought, heaving a sigh of frustration. Suddenly, he recalled the treat that the princess had done to him this morning before leaving home, and he contemplated on whether to call her or not. As he picked up his phone and scrolled through the contacts, he suddenly stopped the phone, kicking against the idea of calling her again. He placed his head on the desk for a moment as he went deep in thought.
He was suddenly jolted from his reverie by the sudden knock that came on the door, as he raised his head immediately looked at the door as if he could see who was knocking through the door. He thought for a while who could be there at this moment. “It cannot be princess. There is no way that she would be here at this time. Certainly, not Ava because it is not yet time.” He thought as he still looked at the door before the second knock came on the door. He contemplated on whether to let whoever it was in or tell them to leave.
“Come in.” He yelled, and the door opened immediately, revealing to his secretary that he had earlier asked to prepare a leave letter for Ava. She walked in rapidly to him, bowing to him before she greeted him.
“Good morning, Alpha Damon!” She said as she halted her steps in front of his desk.
“Yeah, morning. How did your night go?” He asked, and she nodded her head slowly as if she were thinking of her answers before she talked.
“It was fine, sir. The letter you asked me to prepare.” She said as she stretched forth the letter in her hand to him.
“Okay. Thank you.” Alpha Damon said as he grabbed the letter and placed it in his drawer. She heaved a sigh, turned around, and walked away from the office, shutting the door slightly.
“Should I give her the leave or let her stay?” He asked himself as he tried to weigh the options that were before him. He heaved a sigh and placed his head back on the desk as he thought of what next to do. “If I let her go, she gets more time with her strange man. If I don’t, I get to watch her nurture another person’s baby. Now I have to select the one that hurts less.” He thought, hitting the table slightly, as he raised his head, taking a deep breath as he looked around the whole room.
After a while, a knock came on the door and his heart skipped a beat. “This is definitely Ava.” He thought as he leaned backward to rest his back on the chair. He cleared his throat slightly before he talked.
“Come in.” He yelled, and the door opened immediately, revealing Ava as she walked in slowly as he could see through the door. He only started at her with so much hatred and at the same time love. He was totally unsure of what to feel at this time as he continued to stare at her. She walked slowly into the office, trying hard to keep her gaze off him and avoiding all eye contact.
“Good morning!” She said reluctantly, and he shook his head slowly, as he did not know what to say at that moment. As soon as she realized that he did not want to respond, she cleared her throat slightly to talk, and that was when he interrupted rudely.
“That’s it. Good morning. How do you do all these things? You walked out on me yesterday and did not come back at all, and here you are, greeting me good morning.” He said in a loud tone, and she kept mute, not uttering a single word in response to what he had just said.
“I don’t know about you, but these things are not right at all.” He said, and she looked at him directly in the eyes for a moment, for the first time she had since entered that office.
“Are we now saying what is right and what is wrong?” She finally talked, and Alpha Damon stood up from his chair. His gaze moved from her face and landed on her stomach which was well protruded, showing the baby bump. “If only I was the father.” He said to himself as he looked back at her directly in the face.
“What are you talking about? If we are to list the things that are wrong. Your list would be endless because I can keep going on and on without stopping. You got pregnant for a total stranger.” He could not stop himself from spilling as he winced inwardly, realizing what he had just said. He looked away from her for a moment before she talked.
“There you go again. Saying the exact same thing you said yesterday. You know what, I don’t even want to talk about any of these anymore.” She said as she took a few steps backward to leave the office, but Alpha Damon pulled her back towards him, staring into her eyes for a moment. She took in a deep breath, keeping the stare for a moment before she tried to push him away, but he was too strong to hold her in place.
He pulled her closer to himself, expelling all the spaces between them as he stared into her eyes. He brought his lips closer to hers and gave her a soft kiss. She could not help but kiss him back as she closed her eyes. After a while of kissing, she opened her eyes abruptly and pushed him away from her, rapidly taking the exit and shutting the door as hard as she could.
It was at that moment that he realized that he had to let her go. He realized that it was better he had no hope of working things out with her than getting the full holes of working out things that would not lead anywhere.
He sat back down on his chest as the whole incident replayed in his head. His heart raced faster as he could not seem to forget about Ava or stop thinking about her for a second. Moments later, a knock came on his door and he wasted no time, asking the person to come in.
“Come in.” He yelled and the door opened immediately revealing Princess as she walked in slowly towards him. He scoffed at the sight of her, knowing that he was in for a real disturbance. He placed a palm over his face, exhaling heavily with his mouth that took an “o” shape as he placed his head on the desk.
“You should be in your office. Not here.” He said as he halted in front of him. She had a scrunching face on immediately as if she were thinking of what next to say, patting the hair off her face before she talked.
“Is this how to behave? You just attack me with words anywhere you see me? It’s really not fair. One moment you treat me nicely and wish that it never stops, and the next moment you treat me as if I am nothing.” She said rapidly, and all he could do was watch her, heaving a sigh as he did not know what to say.
“Princess. Like I told you from home. I have a lot of work to do. I need every minute that I can get.” He said, taking a deep breath as he looked away from her. She only stared at him, heaving a sigh as if she were trying to read his thoughts but did not say a single word.
“I will leave. But don’t call me when you need anything.” She said, and walked out of the office rapidly, closing the door immediately. Just as she walked out, Ava walked in, with a paper in hand, and just as she was about to place it on his desk.
“There will be no need for that.” Alpha Damon said as he brought out the letter from his drawer and handed it over to her. She took the paper and examined the content for a moment, making a puzzled face as she did not seem to understand.
“I wish you a safe maternal life. Take good care of yourself.” Alpha Damon said, and she stood there dumbfounded as she did not know what to say.
