Chapter 51
Alpha Jude heard a car drive in, Ava would not be back from work this early, so that could only mean one thing. He had a visitor and one he was not expecting as well.
Curious as to who it was, alpha Jude left his desk and trudged to the window, he could see the entire front yard from the window so he had a clear view of the white SUV that was parked in his driveway.
He waited patiently for whoever it was to alight, and a surprised look spread on his face when he saw who it was.
Bold of her to come here, he thought as she walked towards the house, she looked professional, more professional than he had ever seen her look, and she had the sternest expression on her face.
Anything to command some extra respect and power, he thought as he watched her sashay into the house.
With a sigh, alpha Jude walked back to his desk, mentally preparing himself for the exhaustion that came with talking to her.
He was still angry, furious at her for making his hard work go to waste because she could not adhere to a simple instruction that he had given.
And now that she had come to the light and knowledge that her plan was no longer as good as his, she had run back to him.
Expecting him to just accept her, he would have, but he wanted her to know that his ideas were not just something she could throw away and still come for whenever she wanted.
He ignored her first knock on the door and muttered a low come in on the second. He barely glanced at her as she walked in, making himself seem busy and her presence irrelevant and unimportant.
Keeping a serious and focused expression on his face, his gaze not wavering from his computer screen as he scuffled through the files in front of him occasionally.
“Hi” her voice sounded too humble and calm, it did not have that signature ring to it. He wanted to glance up at her to be certain he was speaking to the princess, but he refrained from it.
“Hello,” he said, leaving a dramatic pause before he uttered the next words, “What brings you here.” He glanced at her before he continued, this time typing on the keyboard very noisily.
“May I sit?” She asked, walking cautiously towards his desk. Alpha Jude let a small uncomfortable silence pass.
“If you wish.” He said nonchalantly, not that he cared whether or not she sat. He just wanted to teach her a lesson to not mess with him or think him stupid.
“Are you going to ignore me forever?” Princess asked. If I have to, alpha Jude thought but did not mention it out loud.
His goal was not to hurt her but to teach her a lesson to not just take people off their plans for granted. “I am a busy princess,” Alpha Jude said instead, something not so harsh but still not nice either.
He wanted to see the look on her face at his answer, but he still wanted to keep the nonchalant act up too, so he kept his eyes glued to the screen of his computer with a feigned keen attention on it.
“Look, I am sorry I did not go with the plan” Princess apologized, the apology sounded so genuine he could not believe it, peeling his eyes off the screen he turned to look at her, glancing away when her gaze met his.
He was not surprised at the Apology, he was more surprised at how sincere and genuine the apology sounded.
“I just had a stupid idea and I thought it would work out, just turns out you are better at these things than I am,” Princess confessed to him being better than she was.
She was a prideful woman, so hearing her say that was a confident boost and more to him. It was pleasant to know that she acknowledged his idea being a genius one.
Alpha Jude decided to tone down on the meanest, although she deserved it, he wanted to be a little softer and get under her skin and her head again.
He had questions he wanted to ask her, why had she ditched his plan? What was her plan that she was so confident about that she ditched his?
“What was your plan?” Alpha Jude asked,” And why did you assume it was better than mine? What have you that confidence?” He asked her all at once, knowing she had no valid answer.
She had no answer for any of those questions, she was just obsessed with him, she did not see that she was doing something that would yield quite the opposite result of what she wanted.
When he looked more keenly at her, he could see how meek she was at that moment, she looked small, like she had lost every ounce of confidence she had before she walked into his office.
Alpha Jude felt sorry for her, his plan was not this. He would need all that confidence and high self-esteem she used to have before today. Just not in the way she did the last time.
“Princess.” He called softly and watched her gaze lift you to his, his eyes softened as they met hers, and he mentally warned himself to sound nicer and warmer.
“Look, if you are going to work with me in any way or form, I need you to understand that I do not appreciate you making sudden and abrupt changes without my knowledge.” Alpha Jude said, his voice still unconsciously sounding cold.
He watched her throat move as she swallowed, and he cautioned himself to be softer with her. As much as he could.
An awkward silence passed between them as he sat in thought for a bit. He had no idea what to do next, but he knew he would come up with one soon, so he was not moved.
Princess sat watching him keenly, almost like she was eager to hear what was going on in his head. What conversations he was having in his subconscious?
“Now, we have to plan properly,” he started, “and I would like you to stick to the plan accordingly, instead of diverting to do what you think is better or what suits you.” He warned.
A sigh escaped her and Alpha Jude felt like a savior, he knew they would still have to make so with the first plan while having a backup plan and a follow-up.
No mistakes this time, he wanted Ava, and Ava he would have. Silence befell them again, and Alpha Jude let it be this time. He was actively thinking and could see that so was princess.
He could not wait to see the look on Alpha Damon’s face when they told him what he had in the stall. Alpha Jude knew it would break him into many billion pieces, but he also knew it would get him off Ava for the moment.
Yes, for the time being. Nothing is hidden under the sun, and Alpha Jude knew that one day that child would grow to look like his father and no lies would be able to make him see otherwise.
Ava was not going to terminate the pregnancy, she was too stubborn, and he knew that it was well past the stage that was medically advisable for a termination, so she would just have to birth it.
And he would have to gather it, and gladly too, because alpha Damon will not be there. He would be gone soon.
“What are you thinking?” Princess asked he could tell she felt like she was not included, and he could understand that.
“About how Ava will soon be mine,” Alpha Jude said with a wide smile. “If you play your cards right this time, that is.” He said pointing out the obvious.
“I have to run now,” she said as she got up to leave, pausing for a brief minute to look back at him with a small nod before she disappeared out the door.
Alpha Jude went back to work, occasionally thinking about Ava and the unborn baby. He would have to learn about being a father, it was one thing he knew he did not know about.
Being an only child and a loner without relatives growing up, he had never had any close contact with kids in general.
He would not want that for his kids though, it was why he was glad that Ava had Mika, who would undoubtedly want to be a mother.
She had it written on her forehead, literally. Anyone who saw her would know she had the soul of a mother and caregiver.
Ava had also told stories about her when they were still together, stories that had made him curious to know who she was. Shutting down his computer, alpha Jude stood up to leave. He had other things to take care of.
