Chapter 89: Marilyn’s POV

I no longer had the key to the cell, now fully aware that Rolan was going to have his eyes and ears everywhere I went.
Taking some food and water, I walked into the dungeon where I met two security guards positioned just outside the door. When I tried to go in, they blocked the entrance, obstructing my entry.
“What is the meaning of this? Do you not recognize me or know who I am anymore?” I bellowed at them, and they looked at each other.
“The Alpha only told us not to allow anyone to come inside the cell unless he.” The guards explained politely even though I was seeing stars already from how upset I was.
“What the fuck do you mean by that? I need to enter this place. All I want to do is give a poor old man food, and you are here claiming to be obeying some stupid rule when you actually should be doing my bidding. When the Alpha comes back, I will be sure to inform him of how you barred his very special guest from seeing her uncle.” I said, spitefully.
The truth thawed at my chest because I knew that Rolan would not bother to do anything if I stupidly went to report these nincompoops to him.
“Let her through.” I heard a voice from behind me. Turning to see who it was, I froze on the spot when I noticed that it was Pandora and Kiara.
“I don’t need you to do that for me, they respect you as much as they respect me, Pandora, or whatever the hell your name is!” I sneered, my chest tightening harder with anger.
“Oh really. Well, do your job guards. She doesn’t need me. I am sure she can make you both go away.” She laughed mockingly at me and walked into the cell, the guards bowing respectfully as she walked in.
“You bastards! I thought you said the king refused anyone entry to the dungeon?” I queried, desperate to point out their hypocrisy.
“Yes. That is the Queen. We owe her our loyalty and obedience, too.” One of the guards replied, and my chest foamed in anger.
Pandora was publicly trying to ridicule me and display her powers over me.
“It’s not yet over, you stupid bitch…”
A slap rang out, echoing along the passage that led to the dungeons. Someone had slapped me. I opened my eyes to see who had slapped me and saw that it was Kiara.
“What the fuck? You slapped me?” I asked, refusing to believe that a lowlife like Pandora and her friend had the nerves to touch me.
“Yes. I will do it again if you call Pandora a bitch. She didn’t go through all she had in the last few months for you to come here and act like you are worthy of her respect. Didn’t you cheat on Rolan? Were you not out there fucking his business partners and offering fellatios to his guards? Don’t be a fool, Marilyn, take the little regard we are offering your shameless self and be content with it. You will never come close to Rolan and you will never measure up to Pandora. Deal with it!” Kiara fired hotly at me.
The tears stung my eyes and I did not realize that I had been crying. The slap was quite tough and half my face was blood-red with all five of her fingers imprinted boldly on my cheek.
“You have no right to hit me. Rolan must hear of this. You and your stupid friend are trying to kill me. I did nothing but ask that I be granted entry into a dungeon to feed a hungry old, failing man. His current situation is all your fault and if you had not shown up here with your bad luck, well, everything would have been fine.” I yelled and ran out of the dungeon crying. I had left the food there because there was nothing else to do with it.
Uncle Joe was going to die soon if I did not do anything to have him released. The only person that Rolan used to listen to without any hassle was Griffin.
I am sure that Griffin would rather jump off a bridge than help them convince Rolan to let Uncle Joe go. The poor man was already blind and had no nails on his fingers and toes.
Two of his fingers had gotten chopped off too, with so many flog marks running everywhere on his body.
“What are you crying about?” I heard a female voice ask.
“Who are you?” I replied, scared, as I was not expecting anyone to be on this side of the pack lake. It was already night, so the darkness did not let me get a good look at who was speaking to me and smoking a cigar in the darkness.
“Hi, my name is Ashley. I’m a new trainee at the technical institute. I got in today.” She said calmly and stretched forth her hand for a handshake.
I took her hand and gave her a firm handshake.
“My name is Marilyn. Rolan’s ex-fiancee.” I said and she stepped into the light immediately.
“You are Rolan’s ex?” She asked me, her eyes full of interest.
“Yes,” I replied, trying to see what she was driving at.
“He does not want to be with you anymore because of Pandora right?” She asked and continued when I did not give an answer to her question.
“He invited me here too and neglected me because he found her. I plan to get him back.” She said like a lunatic and I resisted the urge to throw a fit.
“He invited you here?” I asked, my interest piqued, knowing that this was someone I shared a common enemy with. If I can push her enough, she gets to do my dirty work for me and when she is caught, I can go scot-free.
“Yes, he did. You and I are going to be good friends, Marilyn.” She said, smiling creepily at me.
