I stormed into the palace furiously. Bold of Caleb to open his mouth and tell me that he made out with the woman whom he suspected had my wife. I found it absurd that he would come back with a flimsy lie of them being mates just because he found her attractive.
She had definitely seduced him, I suspected that she might have somehow figured him out and pretended to do all that so she could get him to let down his guard.
“Brother, you need to calm down. Caleb will not neglect his duties to you and to the kingdom. I can assure you that. Don’t be too rigid in your judgment.” He said to me,
“Are you taking sides with Caleb against me?” I sneered at him, my anger piqued and the blood rushing to my head.
“No. That is not what I mean. He could be telling the truth. This man has served your father from when he was a boy, and now he is serving you as a man. Give him the benefit of the doubt. He won’t let you down like that.” Griffin explained and like a spell, I felt calmer.
I paced around the room for some time before deciding on something that I wanted to do. I needed to see Pandora and knowing that she was somewhere around me, I wanted to get to her as soon as I could.
“Griffin, I need you to do something for me. Keep a close surveillance on Caleb starting from tonight. I have some things to work out on my own. You may leave.” I ordered, walking up the stairs, all signs of the alcohol I had taken were not evident.
I entered my room and immediately dressed up in an all-black outfit, so I could blend with the night. I rubbed a special mixture on my body to mask my scent before disappearing into the darkness.
It was past midnight, but my adrenaline was pumped, and I thought of all the ways that Pandora would be needing me right now.
I ran faster into the forest and headed straight for the entrance of the boundary fence. I was surprised to see that there were no guards stationed in their usual positions and I had just walked right through.
No wonder the rogues had been finding it so easy to cross over from one side to the other.
“I will have to see Griffin about this when I get back.” I thought to myself and snuck into the red moon pack. I texted Griffin and asked him to send me the address of Ashley. I had forgotten to take it from Caleb due to how angry I was.
A few seconds later, my phone beeped, and I noticed that Griffin had sent the address.
I entered it into my GPS, and soon I was on my way weaving through the forest easily. As I got closer to the address, I began to sweat and the full realization of what I was about to do dawned on me.
“What if Caleb was wrong?” I asked myself. I convinced myself that I was just here to find out if my wife really was there or not. I was not here to hurt anyone unless, of course, they had hurt my mate.
As I snuck around the house, I saw Ashley on her balcony. She was just sitting there looking at nothing. She had a glass of wine in hand and had her legs crossed on the table in front of her.
I did not know whether I should approach her or not but from where I stood, I took in a deep breath and smelt the scent of Pandora slightly in the wind.
She was here. I was sure of it now. Her scent was unmistakable to me, and my wolf had even leaped in joy.
The need to run upstairs to where Ashley was and choke out the location of Pandora was too great.
As I moved to begin climbing the walls, a hand drew me back into the darkness. I was ready to tear at whatever it was until I noticed that it was Caleb and Griffin.
“What the fuck are you two doing here?” I asked, shocked, as I had not known that I was being followed by anyone.
“Alpha, we can simply knock on her door in an hour and have a conversation with her,” Caleb suggested and I eyed him angrily.
“You would throw your mate under the boss for your Alpha?” I asked him.
“I will do anything for my Alpha and my pack. Anything!” Caleb swore, and I saw the sincerity in his eyes.
“Brother, let us wait. If we charge now, we do not know what the consequences will be. We are sure that the missing Luna is around here somewhere. This is all thanks to how meticulous Caleb has been in carrying out his duties. We will wait for dawn and have a proper conversation with her.” Griffin suggested, and I saw a lot of sense in what he had proposed.
“Let’s do a survey of the kingdom. I do not want anyone to know about our visit.” I warned, and the two men nodded quietly.
“We meet back here in exactly one hour. Take care boys” I said and disappeared into the forest.
I had already done my round around the pack when a sweet scent hit my nose.
“Pandora!” My wolf growled.
I immediately took a deep breath and began to trace the scent. As I moved closer to the scent, I found myself in an open field and a young pregnant woman jogging around.
It was Pandora! My wolf leaped in joy and I rushed over to hug her.
“Pandora oh! Where have you been, my love? I’m so sorry!” I began to apologize.
I felt her body tense in my arms, and before I could understand what the rejection was about, she flipped me on my back.
“Who the fuck are you?” She yelled at me.
I looked at her in surprise, she was acting as if she did not know me.
“I am your mate. I am R…” I began to say, but she shoved me violently away from her and ran away.
I lay there in shock, unable to move or do anything else. What the hell was happening?
