I was surprised to see Rolan sneaking out of his palace at that time of the night. I was about to sneak off to finish up an arms deal with one of the biggest trafficking syndicates in the world when I had seen him through the window and followed him.
At first, he was headed right to the secret passage, but then I noticed that he was headed for the main entrance. The guards that I paid not to be at their duty posts were not there, he stopped for a while and examined the situation before continuing on his run in the bush.
One would expect his scent to be pungent, but his scent was faint, and he was even running through the forest in his wolf form. I had masked my scent too, as we always did whenever we had to use the secret passageway out of the packs.
He stopped for a while and texted someone on his phone. He was standing at the border of Red Moon Park and I wondered what business he had to do there.
The red moon pack was lower in the hierarchy and were usually not to be seen around Alpha’s like Rolan as they were too far off.
I had snuck into his pack to see if I could have a talk with Kiara. In the past few months, my family has invested in a business that has gone bad. All means to boost our finances were not pulling through successfully.
Tonight, I needed to pay some money to the traffickers for the girls that they supplied me the last time. I wanted to approach Kiara and ask her to lend me some money.
Even though she had been hard-hearted towards me the last time we saw her, I knew that deep down in her heart, she still had a very soft spot for me. If I told her the right words, she would do everything I needed.
I was on my way to her place, so I was able to meet her at home before she went to work. I was surprised to see the Alpha sneaking out and everything about his actions made me terribly suspicious.
“What dark secrets could be lurking in the crevices of Rolan’s life? I guess his little perfect life with Pandora is not so perfect anymore.” I said and chuckled lightly to myself.
“Oh, how has the mighty fallen?” I exclaimed and crouched lower.
He headed for a house downtown, running through the forest. He was so fast that I was struggling to keep up with his speed as he ran. He stopped behind a house and kept his eyes fixed on the balcony.
I followed his eyes and saw a very beautiful woman sitting on her balcony and sipping a glass of juice.
She seemed to have woken up earlier than she wanted and needed to keep herself busy before daybreak. I began to wonder what the reason was for his interest in this strange woman.
“I sure hope that Rolan is not cheating on Pandora. If he is, it would be such a shame. He had always carried himself around like he was perfect. Maybe he is just a man after all!” I sighed sadly and kept watching him.
As he made a move to begin climbing the woman’s walls, I saw Griffin, his loyal stooge and another unfamiliar man drag him back into the darkness.
Everything that was happening became very confusing to me as I struggled to relate anything that was happening right in front of me.
An idea began to form in my mind. If I was able to catch Rolan doing something fishy, I could hold the information above him and blackmail him.
Considering how wealthy he is, I know that he was wealthy enough to pay me billions. His name should definitely be worth more to him. I texted the men who were waiting for me to inform them that something had come up, and it was risky for us to meet today.
I switched off my phone, more determined than ever to see through whatever Alpha Rolan, Griffin, and the strange man were here to do. I was surprised when the three men split up, it took a while before I was back on Rolan’s trail. He circled the pack twice, and then began walking like a controlled zombie into the Pack’s field.
When I came out of a small dark opening at the other end of the field I noticed that Pandora was the pregnant young lady that I had seen from afar.
“Pandora has moved out of the palace?” I asked myself, the shock becoming more evident on my face.
“Pandora!” I heard Alpha Rolan call out before rushing to hug her from behind. It was obvious that they had not seen each other for a while.
My shock tripled when Pandora flipped him on his back and then ran away afterward. I had seen their mouths move, but I was too far away to hear the words that had been said.
All I could read was the pure terror that filled Pandora’s face as she dashed off the field like she had just encountered her worst nightmare.
“Something is wrong. I need to see Kiara.” I muttered, I turned and saw that it was almost done. If I wanted to meet her at home, I would have to set out now.
Barely thirty minutes later, I was panting at the back of Kiara’s house. She was at the back of her house, tending gently to her garden.
I had never pegged her as someone with enough focus or patience to tend to a flower garden.
She seemed so peaceful as she had her back to me and was squatting so she could pull out some of the weed.
I almost passed out when she stood up and turned, and I noticed that she had a protruding stomach. If I had not known her, I would have said that she was pregnant.
My eyes opened in shock at my understanding of what had happened.
Rolan was the father of her baby and Pandora had left because of that.
