Chapter Thirty-Two: Kiara’s POV

Book:Her Alpha's Rejected Mate Published:2024-11-25

I have been here for about two weeks now, and I have never been happier. Pandora and Rolan have been the best hosts.
Being here to expect the baby with them has healed my shattered heart faster than I thought it should have taken. I was already planning to get my apartment and had even made a down payment for a car.
Rolan helped me to get a job with the newspaper company of the pack, and I was expected to resume in two weeks. My life was beginning to take form and make some sense to me.
I spoke to my father last week, and he mentioned that Eric came around the house with his father and that they had blamed all of Eric’s ills on youthful exuberance.
They laughed at that part of the conversation. My father had then spoken to Rolan and Pandora as my mom was busy in the kitchen making dinner.
I smiled at my new wardrobe and laid on my bed in Rolan’s palace. I heard a knock on my door, and I was surprised when Rolan entered.
“Hello, Kiara.” He greeted me politely, he has been the kindest and most supportive man ever since he heard about what happened between Eric and me.
He even asked my permission to go and talk to Eric to find out where things went wrong, but I refused. I did not want Eric to have a clue about where I was, since I had asked my parents not to let anyone know of my whereabouts.
“Hey, Rolan. How are you?” I asked as he sat down on the sofa in my room.
“I am quite alright. I wanted to talk to you about something,” he said calmly, and my ears perked with interest.
“Okay, Rolan. I am listening.” I replied and sat up.
“Eric has been looking for you. My sources have been telling me that he has been sending spies to confirm whether you are really here or not. You might encounter him soon so when you do, I need you to press the button on this remote I am going to give you. I am not sure if any of the spies escaped, it is why I am taking this measure to ensure that you feel safe at all times.” He said and I nodded my head sadly.
“If he knew he wanted me like this, why did he treat me the way he did before? I am never going back to him, Rolan. Never!” I swore and sighed sadly.
“It’s okay Kiara. Did you speak with the director of your new office yet?” He asked, and I managed a smile to show my deep gratitude.
“Yes, I just did. He asked that I resume in two weeks. However, I have to take my documents to the office for submission and documentation next week. I will also be picking up my staff identity card too. Thank you so much, Rolan.” I said and beamed genuinely at him. He shook his head at me.
“No Kiara, thank you. I would never have met my mate if you weren’t who you were. You deserve to be happy at all times, and you will always be welcome in my home. Especially since I have your sister camped with me for life.” He joked and we both chuckled lightly.
“Do you think Eric is dangerous?” I asked, wondering why he was worried about my safety with Eric.
“Well, while he went abroad for work, he might have been rumored to have murdered a business partner in a business deal gone wrong that led to a shootout. If he is connected to that rig, I fear that he might not be as clean as he looks like he is to the public. I am not sure of anything, but until I am, I want to be sure that you are safe and reachable.” he finished and then smiled warmly at me.
Before I could respond, another knock sounded and this time, Pandora came in with a bowl of pineapples, delving inside the bowl like there was something else.
“Hey, guys. The servant told me that you came here.” She greeted Rolan and sat on the bed beside me, offering me the bowl to eat out of. I shook my head and drew inside the bed, so she could put her back on the headboard.
“Hey, preggo. You look like you would wolf down this house even before you are even six months” I teased, and we all laughed.
“How are you?” she asked me.
“I am fine Pandy. Eric’s been looking for me. I just found out from your husband now.” I blurted.
I didn’t even know why I said it out loud, maybe it was to be able to convince myself that I might actually be in potential danger.
“I’ll leave you women to catch up, I’ve got a meeting to chair today. I’ll see you girls later” Rolan said and walked up to his wife to give her a peck on the cheeks.
“Alright babe” Pandora replied and smiled cheekily at him. They looked so cute together all the time and I wondered where I had gone wrong to have Eric treat me in such a way.
“Alright Rolan, thank you very much.” I appreciated him and turned my attention to Pandora as soon as he stepped out of the room.
“What do you mean? Eric is stalking you now?” She asked me, a puzzled look on her face.
“Rolan thinks I might not be safe around Eric for now, so if I encounter any danger, I should press a button. I don’t know, Pandy. I think he is not telling me everything that he knows. I won’t push, though. I’ll do just as he has said.” I said and sighed sadly, upset that the life I thought was falling back into place still had some obstacles in it.
“Until you see him anywhere, I think you should put your mind at rest and focus on other things,” Pandora advised, and I nodded my head in agreement.
