Chapter Thirty-One: Eric’s POV

Book:Her Alpha's Rejected Mate Published:2024-11-25

I was devastated when I went to Kiara’s house this morning, and I was told that she had left. She had called off the wedding and strictly warned that I should never reach out to her again.
Even though this was what I wanted to achieve, I know I overdid it, and she deserves to know the truth. The desperation to see her was killing me and I realized that I was a fool for ever letting her go.
“I do not want to see you here again. Do you understand me, Eric?” Her father threatened. I knew he had a right and every reason to.
“Have you not disgraced our daughter enough? Now you come here with your crocodile tears to say that you are sorry, and you want Kiara back. You must be a joker” her mother fired hotly at me, I could feel the pain of the hurt I had caused them. I didn’t know what to say at that point that would make everything better.
“Please, we came here to plead because we know we are in the wrong. Kindly tell us the location of our dearest mate so we can go and get her. Eric is truly sorry, and I know such a thing will not come from him again. Isn’t that right, Eric?” My father asked me and I nodded vehemently.
“Yes sir. I am truly sorry. A lot was going on with me and my headspace wasn’t right at the time. I was wrong and foolish, I should never have treated Kiara the way I did. I am sorry. Please just give me one last chance.” I begged profusely, hoping that the mess was not too irreparable for me.
“I am sorry Eric, there is nothing my wife and I can do to help you and your father. We do not know where she is either as she said she didn’t want anyone to disturb her where she went” her father replied and my soul fell. I could feel my wolf whimpering in pain.
“Well, I am sorry about how this turned out, old friend. You know kids and their youthful exuberance” my father chuckled.
I felt like strangling the laughter back into his throat and forcing those terrible words he had just said back down. I was too ashamed to say anything and I hurriedly stood up to leave.
“Excuse me, young man, you are just going to let your father define the evil you did against my daughter like it was a mere hormonal change? You intentionally frustrated my daughter and depressed her until she had to run away from everyone to seek solace, and you sauntered in here with your father to spew rubbish?” Her mother charged at us.
“Leave our house, please. Take your stupid youthful exuberance and leave” she screamed at us and walked to the door to hold it open.
Her father merely spared us a glance and scoffed before standing up and walking to the room I knew to be his office.
“Father, let us go” I whispered to my father. I regretted my decision to have brought him along as I felt like I should have reached out to my more sensible uncle. I only involved my father because Kiara’s father was close friends with him.
He looked at me, and I saw the confusion on his face that he didn’t realize that he just blew up my only chance to find a way to make things right with my mate. I knew I had to find my uncle as we left here. He was the only person I could trust to help me get a headway with this.
Kiara’s mom ignored our goodbyes and slammed the door as soon as they were out.
“Did I say something wrong? I feel that I said something wrong.” My father asked. I scoffed and got into the car. He got in with me and I asked him where he wanted to be dropped off.
“Are you not going to answer me?” He asked, ignoring my question.
“You went there and blamed everything I did on youthful exuberance, then you laughed. Why would you laugh? Are you trying to make a mockery of them? What were you even thinking father?” I snapped furiously at him.
“Easy boy. I am still your father. I only made a simple mistake. I didn’t know the full extent of what you did. So don’t put the consequences of your terrible decision-making on me, it’s not my fault. I have my mate in my house. You can go and find yours. And I will find my way to where I am going to” my father fired back and slammed the door as he was leaving the car.
I sighed sadly. I will find a way to make it up to him later, but for now, I need to find my uncle.
As I eased into my uncle’s office, I saw him discussing with someone outside. I waited for him to finish before approaching him.
“Hello Uncle” I greeted him respectfully, he was a man feared by everyone and was part of the Alpha’s council.
“Eric, I heard you made an ass of yourself by cheating on your mate. Real shitty behavior, not cheating, but getting caught. Your mother called me that Kiara called off the wedding. I really liked her” he barraged me, he was not a man of few words and fully expressed what he felt about situations without any fear.
“I know sir. It is why I came to you. I took Dad there and everything just became worse. I wanted to come to you at first, but I felt it was more appropriate since Kiara’s dad and mine were friends. Her mom asked us to leave when dad said I was only acting under youthful exuberance, and then he laughed.” I said sadly, and my uncle burst into a fit of laughter.
“I wish I were there to have seen your face. Must have been priceless. Do you know where Kiara is or have an idea where she could be?” He asked me.
“I can only think of one place, you might not like it,” I said, skeptically.
“Try me”
“Alpha Rolan’s pack. He is married to Kiara’s best friend.”
