I was excited that Kiara was coming over to stay with me for some time while trying to pick up the pieces of her life since her mate’s betrayal.
She had called me shortly after I asked her to talk to Eric and postpone the now-canceled wedding. I went to the airport myself, even when Rolan had warned me sternly not to.
He has been treating me like some fragile cup since he found out that I was pregnant. I scanned the entire arrival area to see if Kiara had arrived yet.
It had been announced earlier that the weather was bad and the turbulence up there was so bad that some people fainted.
I prayed to the moon goddess for safety on her behalf. I had barely finished praying when a hand tapped me gently on my shoulder. I turned to lash out at the person who had touched me without my permission.
It happened that it was Kiara, and I squealed delightfully. Even though I could see that she was struggling to be fine, Kiara insisted that she was, and she was truly grateful that she had me readily available to help.
She enveloped me in the warmest hug ever, and I realized that I needed that hug a lot more than she did.
“Kiara! I am so happy that you are here. I can’t wait to show you around town since we couldn’t do that the last time you came with my parents.” I squealed again delightfully.
“Pandy, thank you so much” she said in appreciation as I took her hand luggage from her and led the porter that handled all of Kiara’s bags to follow me to offload and arrange them properly in the car.
“Heard about the weather conditions. How was your flight?” I asked, not wanting to immediately delve into talking about Eric and everything that he has done unfairly to my friend.
“It was quite a journey. I was so scared. The turbulence was so crazy, we all feared something else was happening.” She replied to me, her voice small and weak, barely audible.
“Yes, we heard about it. I am sorry about that. I’ll do my best to make your stay here memorable.” I promised her, already making a mental list of everything that we would be doing while she was here.
“You look so good, Pandora. Rolan is really taking good care of you.” She complimented me and we both laughed.
On our way home, we stopped by a pastries store and got some cakes and a big pizza.
My phone rang just as we were about to leave the pastries store, and I checked to see that it was Rolan. I had totally forgotten to call him.
“Where did you drive yourself to?” He asked immediately after I picked up the call.
“Hey babe” I answered, knowing fully well that I was playing a very dangerous game.
“Pandora, send me the details of your live location now! I mean that!” Rolan commanded.
“Chill babe, we are at a pastry store. We just got some, and then we have been talking around the place for quite a long while now. Just trying to amuse myself with our girl talk.” I explained, putting on my meekest voice.
“I am tracking your location right now. I am on my way to you. I told you that you were not allowed to do anything all by yourself. Couldn’t you have just called? Do not move an inch from there. I’ll come and get you.” Rolan order.
“What about Kiara? You know she’s just coming from a trip, it was quite the hectic one.” I pleaded, hoping to use Kiara as an excuse to head home.
“Baby, stay back at the pastry store. You know what? You want to be alone with your friend right? Do not worry about that.” He said, and I heard him ordering Griffin to call the pastries store we were at and pay for everything they were selling that day.
I chuckled shyly, Rolan was overdoing it, even after I had told him about what was happening with Eric and Kiara.
“Wait for me. I do not want any more arguments from you. Just do as you are fucking told!” He said and hung up the phone.
“Well, looks like I’m about to be watching you both be all lovey throughout my stay here,” Kiara said and smiled, I knew it was the first time she had smiled in quite a while. She didn’t have to tell me, I just knew.
“Well, you heard him. We are waiting for him. Come, let’s go back in. I have so much that I have been dying to tell you, but it is not a phone conversation. I was actually going to invite you over to relax just before the wedding” I assured her, hoping she knew that I missed her so much and it helps elevate her mood.
“Aww Pandy. I really missed you too” she replied as we sat down inside.
I noticed that the management came outside to start telling people to leave because their store was having an important guest who had bought everything for the day. I knew that Rolan had done this, so I stood up to talk to the manager, excusing myself from Kiara.
“Hello,” I greeted first.
The manager turned to tell me to leave as they were closed for the day. I wanted to speak and explain that it was because of me and that I was the significant guest that her husband had called in for.
He did not even give me a chance to speak to him before shutting me up with his words. Even when people who recognized me asked that he listen to me, he didn’t let them complete the words before shutting them up because it was the company’s policy.
We were still arguing when I felt a familiar hand circle around my waist and with the shock on the manager’s face, I knew without having to turn that Rolan was the one holding me.
“What were you telling my wife just now?” He thundered, his voice deep and his aura deeper.
The man shook in obvious fear and started stuttering his apologies. Rolan stared hard at him before turning his gaze to me as I pulled on his arm.
“I don’t want anything to stress you and my baby,” he whispered in my ears as he teased me.
“Baby stop!” I smiled and hugged him tightly.
“Let’s go home”
“Welcome Kiara. Let’s go home please” He said and led us outside.
