Derrick has been showing up in my dreams and pleading for forgiveness lately. I also have not spoken to Rolan in three days.
He has been trying to apologize, but I didn’t know why I was holding back from telling him that I forgive him even though he didn’t do anything to offend me.
I knew that he had sent flowers through some of the servants that I am close to in the palace to give to me. I also made sure he didn’t sleep in the same room with me and while I was enjoying all of this drama, I realized that I was beginning to miss him. We never even really got a chance to celebrate the pregnancy.
I made up my mind to bury the hatchet tonight when he got back to the house. I called the butler upstairs to give him details for dinner.
“Good afternoon my Queen” the butler greeted me and bowed, as was the custom here.
“Hello, butler. I’ll be needing you to make the king’s favorite for dinner. Make sure all of his meat is cooked to medium rare and seared on both sides.” I instructed him.
“Alright, my queen. Would you be inspecting the food before I serve it?” he asked me.
I had never even thought about that.
“Alright. I will.” I replied to him.
I went into the shower to prepare for dinner as I wanted to impress Rolan with a dress I knew he would like.
He has always badgered me to wear the dress and today was the first time I looked forward to wearing the gown. I rushed through my shower and asked that a plate of fruit salad be brought up into my chambers.
When a knock sounded on my door, I expected the person to be the servant, so I didn’t bother to turn as I enjoyed the warm afternoon breeze hitting my face. It helped ease my nausea and also clear my head.
“Place it on the table,” I commanded, not in the mood to have my perfect moment ruined. I clutched my stomach and laughed quietly.
I jumped and almost passed out when I felt a hand circle around mine on my belly.
“It’s okay babe. It’s me. I’m so sorry I startled you. I thought it would be a cute way to surprise you” he apologized, seeing that I wasn’t finding his little cute surprise so funny or cute.
“Don’t scare me like that again. I thought it was someone else.” I said angrily.
I wondered why I was snapping so badly and remembered the article about some symptoms of pregnancy.
It had made mention of something like hormonal imbalance and mood swings. I closed my eyes and made efforts to shut off all the negative feelings and dread that I had been feeling.
“I am sorry, babe. Who else were you expecting?” He asked me, his voice tinged with jealousy.
I gave him a quizzical look, wondering why he thought that now was a good time to act like the jealous bull that he was.
“It was the servant that was to bring me a fruit salad. I want to eat some before I have dinner. It’s a special one for us. Since you and I have not been on the best of terms, I wanted to make dinner special.” I said quietly.
“You forgive me, my love?” He asked, wanting to be certain I knew what I was talking about.
“Yes, I do Rolan. I have missed you” I admitted shyly and looked at my feet. He brought his hand up to my chin and tilted my face so I could keep looking at his face.
“A queen never bows” he teased and kissed me deeply. I tried to be resistant at first, but his skillful tongue soon broke down my walls, and soon I was squirming against him.
“Umm, you taste so sweet, I want to eat you later. I would like to talk about the pregnancy with you. I called Ross. He is my childhood best friend. We barely see each other because of the nature of our jobs.” He said and led me gently to the edge of the bed, then sat down on the chair he pulled to the front of me.
“You did not tell me about Ross,” I commented and eyed him. He caught my eyes and laughed.
“Babe, I am sorry. I promise he is the only friend I have. There’s also Daniel, Daniel Mallory, he is an Alpha now so he is also barely around. Ross is married, while Daniel is not. His mate died, he hasn’t mated with anyone else ever since.” He explained calmly.
I paid rapt attention to what he was saying as I already looked forward to getting to meet Ross’s wife.
“I am so sorry about Daniel. I am positive something will happen to him soon. I already look forward to meeting Ross’s wife.” I expressed my happiness at finally making a new friend.
“Well, you are in luck, she is the Pack’s doctor. Her husband is just our family doctor, and he sees some special cases. Dr. Lauren is one of the best people I know. I’m sure you will like her too, and I am very excited for both of you to meet.
“You wanted to talk about the pregnancy?” I asked, wondering what about the pregnancy he wanted us to discuss.
“Yes, babe. We need to throw a wedding party for all the packs. This would be your official introduction to everyone and also your declaration as Queen mother. You have been ignoring me for days, I would have told you about it earlier.” He said and scoffed at me.
I laughed and swatted at his arm. He dodged it and caught my wrist in one swift motion.
“Rolan! I am your wife. Let me hit you, it’s one of your duties and responsibilities to me, as my husband” I teased him.
We both laughed gently and I became grateful. I thanked the moon goddess for finding me deserving of such honor even when people thought I didn’t deserve it. I thought about Derrick and the pain he has caused me. There was nothing in my heart for him since the day he came to my house for the first time.
“I can’t wait to get married to you!” I laughed joyfully.
