I watched as my uncle trashed the water Griffin was currently forcing his head in. After my call with Derrick, even though I hadn’t wanted to have anything to do with him, his help touched me.
He could have easily liaised with my uncle to hurt me, but he had not done that. I still wonder why he did that.
Now, I was watching my guard torture my uncle.
“That’s enough Griffin, bring him up” I ordered him and stood up. I walked gingerly towards where my uncle was dripping water and panting for air desperately.
“Uncle Joe, I warned you. Why did you think you should liaise with my enemies? I am your nephew, your only brother’s child and you seek my downfall. You know I warned you. I told you that I will not spare you when something like this happens next time.”
“You called my bluff and went ahead. How did you know about my issues with Derrick? I mean I haven’t even heard or seen or spoken to him in two months.” I spoke slowly to him as I wanted to make sure that he understood everything that I was saying.
“I am sorry, Rolan. Spare me one last time.” Uncle Joe begged pitifully for his life.
“You would not spare mine if you were in my shoes, would you?” I asked him, positive that we both knew that he wouldn’t bat an eyelid when he had the chance to hurt me.
“I promise. I will leave you alone” he pleaded, desperate to keep his life.
“You already lost that chance. Griffin, finish it and dispose of his body” I said and made to sit.
“What did I just hear you say? Griffin, let him up right now?” I heard Pandora’s stern voice from behind me. I jumped, startled. I thought she was sleeping upstairs.
Griffin looked at me for confirmation and I nodded. He drew the wet and breathless Uncle Joe out of the water, and Pandora walked to his side and used her hand towel to wipe his face.
She helped him sit down on the chair and turned squarely to stare at Griffin and me like we were little boys caught playing games at the wrong time.
“What is the meaning of this, Rolan? What the hell is happening here?” She snarled at me.
I shifted uncomfortably on my feet and Griffin shuffled his weight from one foot to the other.
“Rolan?” She called out to me when I didn’t answer her immediately.
“Pandora, it’s not what you think. I can explain.” I muttered slowly.
“It’s not what I think? You were not trying to drown your uncle?” She asked me, and I felt more stupid for even saying it was not what she thought.
“Okay, yes. That is it, but there’s a reason why.” I managed to say.
“Griffin, clean him up and lock him up in the dungeon. I’d like to have a private moment with the Luna” I ordered, and he bowed and pushed Uncle Joe out of the room roughly.
“Sit down babe, let’s talk. I thought you were sleeping, and I didn’t want you to witness this side of being an Alpha.” I explained.
Her face remained unfazed, and she kept her eyes on me, making me conscious of myself.
“I did not do anything wrong, Pandora. Derrick called me some weeks ago to inform me that my uncle was in his palace to see him.” I started.
“Derrick? Your uncle went to see Derrick? How? Why?” She asked me, her face filled with confusion.
“Well, I didn’t really have a good relationship with him. He was my father’s twin brother, and he felt like he had more right to be on the throne than his brother even though he had failed his test. I was quite surprised when Derrick called me, but I confirmed what he said to be true when my men picked up my uncle trying to escape through his office window some weeks ago…”
“Weeks ago? Why did I not know about this?” She asked.
“I did not want to bother you with all of that, I am sorry. He was at Derrick’s to plan how to take over the throne from me even if it meant him killing me.” I finished.
She didn’t say anything for a long while.
“Pandora, talk to me. I thought that you were up in your chambers sleeping. You wanted to rest in the morning. How do you feel now?” I asked, genuinely concerned and worried that she still had to deal with me and my violent tendencies when I had to act in the capacity of the Alpha.
“I’m pregnant Rolan. I’m pregnant for you. We are expecting Triplets.” She said, her voice quiet and low.
I did not understand what I just heard.
“What did you just say, Pandora?” I asked her, leaping out of my seat and taking giant strides towards her.
“I am pregnant, Rolan. I just got back from the hospital. I met Dr. Ross.” She said flatly.
“Why didn’t you call me baby? Oh my God! I cannot believe this. Pandora, thank you! How do you feel? You are not going to lift a finger. I am so happy. Thank you for making me the happiest man today.” I leaped around the room for joy.
“I called you multiple times. You did not pick. Apparently, you were in the middle of a drowning session with your uncle.” She said and scoffed.
I moved close to her and gathered her in my arms.
“I’m sorry, baby. I wasn’t going to kill him. It was just to scare him so he doesn’t think about betraying me again. I’m keeping my enemies closer, Pandora. I am so sorry you had to see that. Is there any way I can make it up to you?” I asked calmly, holding her face gently.
“It is not an excuse, Rolan. I need you to promise that you will not spoil your hands with blood until I give birth.” She said,
Easy.
“I promise baby,” I replied and claimed her lips in mine.
