She didn’t have time to answer as her phone vibrated. It was a reply from Jaquan: “Yes.”
He admitted it quite frankly.
Callie met Mollie’s questioning gaze. “I’m pregnant.”
Mollie raised an eyebrow, about to congratulate her, but Callie continued, “Ectopic pregnancy. The doctor suggests immediate termination.”
She watched as Mollie’s half-formed smile faded.
“What do you think?”
“No, not now. Nelson and Oconnor Group are at a critical juncture. I don’t have time for this.”
Callie answered firmly, taking the prescription to get the medication. She asked the doctor for some temporary pain relief.
Mollie followed her, “Aren’t you overthinking this? You should discuss it with Nelson. After all, he’s the father.”
Callie wasn’t sure if she was mocking fate or herself. “He doesn’t have time for me now. It’s just an unborn child, nothing important.”
But she couldn’t help wondering how Nelson would react if he knew he had a child. Would he be happy or silent?
However, he didn’t like children; otherwise, he wouldn’t have made her take birth control pills.
She couldn’t help but think… was it because she didn’t take the birth control pills properly that led to the ectopic pregnancy?
At this crucial moment, she couldn’t afford to think too much.
Mollie followed behind Callie, her voice calm, “As an outsider, I shouldn’t interfere in your family matters, but at least he should know.”
Callie took the medicine prescribed by the doctor and forced a smile. “Of course, I’ll let him know.”
However, Nelson’s negotiation lasted a whole day and night.
The negotiation teams from both sides were evenly matched.
Nelson sat in the middle, facing various capital representatives. He maintained his aura and even managed to make an irrelevant joke gracefully.
Countless prying eyes were fixed on him.
Companies fall every day, which is no surprise. What they wanted to see was how Nelson would turn the tide and make a comeback. The fate of Oconnor Group rested on Nelson.
During the break, media reports quickly spread, saying Nelson had secretly met with a CEO who had successfully resolved a similar crisis.
Meanwhile, Anthony efficiently reported the current financial situation of Oconnor Group and foreign investments. “Our restrictions on Scott Group have had no effect. There must be someone behind Jaquan.”
“Investigate,” Nelson said concisely.
Anthony didn’t feel much of a crisis, as long as the man in front of him stood firm, Oconnor Group would never fall.
Nelson rubbed his eyes for the third time, looking displeased. Bridger noticed immediately. “What’s wrong with your eyes?”
Nelson’s tall and slender figure strode forward, leaving behind a sentence, “Don’t worry about me.”
His eye had been twitching all day, making him irritable, as if something was about to happen…
Bridger handed him a phone. “Call her. Since she’s here, she must be worried about you.”
After 24 hours, Nelson finally smiled genuinely but didn’t take the phone. “Forget it. Calling her will only make her worry more. I’ll talk to her after it’s over.”
“Are you in love?” Bridger’s tone was surprised, half-joking.
Nelson continued walking, feeling somewhat relaxed. “Yes. You wouldn’t understand since you’re not married.”
Bridger twitched his mouth, genuinely puzzled why he had come all this way to listen to this man brag.
