We won’t let go

“Why are you scared of us, Bunny? You know we will never harm you, right?” He asked, making it sound like he wasn’t the one who looked like a beast when they attacked those wolves.
“If we wanted to hurt you, we would have done that before you found out who we were,” he added when he realized I wasn’t going to answer his question.
“Not if you were preparing me for the grand finale,” I argued as I took a step back, keeping my eyes fixed on them. The last thing I would want was for them to catch me unaware.
“Grand finale? Why do you think we will ever wish to hurt you?” Fred asked as he drew some steps until he was standing next to Blue. “I know we aren’t humans, and you are not wrong in fearing us, but I need you to know we will never hurt you. Not now, and certainly not ever.”
“And you want me to trust that?” I scoffed, giving them my best glaring look. “I would be a fool to believe you.”
Blue sighed as he exchanged glances with Fred. “Do you realize we can erase your memory and make you forget everything you have witnessed?”
I gaped at him. Now, that wasn’t what I was expecting. “Wipe my memories?” I frowned as dread took hold of me at the thoughts. I imagined how I would be should their claims turn out to be the truth. With my memory wiped, I would forget they weren’t humans, and still…
No. That’s not happening.
“Yes, we can. But we chose not to,” Blue replied to his question.
“We planned to tell you who we were by giving you subtle hints until you were ready for it, but that had to happen. Believe us, it wasn’t our intention for you to find out that way,” Fred said, stepping close.
I watched him, my gaze going from one brother to the other as I drew more steps back until I was almost close to the wall. I gulped, knowing I would be cornered should I take a step back. I wasn’t that dumb, not to know what happens whenever someone backs the wall.
“We just need you to stop being scared of us. We are still the same as the men you knew. Only that we have fangs and claws. There’s no difference between the present us, and the last ones. We still want you to be our bunny,” Blue let out, begging me with his eyes.
“I want to go home,” I whispered as I looked from one brother to the other. “I don’t want to do this with you again. Just let me go home,” I pleaded. “I wish to -”
“No, we are not doing this.” Blue shook his head firmly. “We are not letting you go, Bunny. We just got you. We can’t afford to lose you. Please don’t ask us to let go,” he pleaded.
I should have known they wouldn’t let me leave. Doing that would only make them look like fools.
“Do you intend to keep me here forever? To force me to be with you guys?” I sneered at the thoughts as I folded my arms.
Funny how bold I sounded when I was dying inwardly. My heart was thumping loudly in my chest, and I was barely keeping my legs from giving away. Standing was a chore.
Talking to them made me feel like I had one foot in the grave. After everything I had witnessed since I discovered who they were, I knew how easy it would be for them to get rid of me.
“No, we will never force you to be with us. It’s your choice, bunny. What we intend to do is lock you up in this mansion. You are going nowhere,” Fred said, his voice taking a very dark edge. “We won’t let you go. Not now and freaking never.”
Oh boy.
I gulped.
What the hell had I gotten myself into? Who the fuck asked me to reply to their email? I knew what caused all this. My greed. Had I not been power hungry, I wouldn’t have ended up in this situation, one I might not come out of, alive.
“Don’t get us wrong. We won’t let you go, but that doesn’t mean we will force you. It’s still your choice. The only thing we are taking from you is your ability to leave us,” Blue explained, as if that solved anything.
It only worsened it.
“People will look for me. Chris will involve the police should they not see me at work. You will -”
“It’s funny how you think we obey the norms of the human world, Bunny. We only act human with you. You are the only one we care about, enough to act as human as we could, for your sake. As for others? They are no match for us. And your friend? Wiping her memories is enough.”
No, not Chris.
“Don’t touch her!” I yelled out. “Don’t freaking think of hurting her! She has done nothing to you!”
They frowned at my outburst, looking like I hurt them by saying those words. “Do you think we are monsters that kill just because we feel like it?” Blue demanded, his voice going up a bit.
“Isn’t that what you fucking bloody are? You are nothing but cold-blooded monsters that kill at a whim! And let’s not forget what a cruel bloodsucker you are!” I yelled at them, barely keeping my anger in check. It was like a broken dam, as I ended up vomiting every damned thing I had wanted to say to them ever since I found out they weren’t humans.
“Monsters?” They echoed the word. “In your eyes, we will always be beasts,” Blue whispered as he turned his back to me. “Call us when you are hungry, or need to be let out of the room,” he added as he walked towards the door, with Fred close behind.
I watched in shock as they left the room, wondering what I had done wrong, and why they acted odd. The way they looked before the door closed behind them made it seem like I bullied them when they were the ones doing that.
