Reed’S POV.
My pulse quickens as I stare at the blue-ticked message in Halle’s dm. She still appears to be mad at me and I’m back at her apartment door to beg. I hope she hears me out this time around. I release a ragged breath and close my eyes as I knock on the door. Few minutes later, it’s opened by Halle. Her twisted expression has my blood rushing up my ears.
I have never been this nervous in my life.
“Hey baby.” I greet her with a raspy voice. Her expression does not change. “Did you see my message?” I ask, even though I know she did. Without uttering a word, she steps aside from the doorway for me to get in.
Thank goodness!
I step into the apartment.
“Yes, I did see your message.” She answers cooly, shutting the door behind her.
“I waited for your reply, but it didn’t come. I got worried.”
“What took you so long to come? It’s almost ten pm.”
“There was an emergency at the castle. Luna Alora… had complications and we had to rush her to the hospital. I had to stay and make sure she was doing okay before I came over.”
“What happened to her?” She asks, concerned.
“The most important thing is that she’s fine. We can pay her a visit at the hospital tomorrow if you want.”
“I would love that.”
“Okay. I’ll fit it in my schedule.” I take calm, calculated steps towards her. She doesn’t look as vindictive as she did last night and that is a good sign. “Did you understand the meaning of my text or do I have to explain it to you?”
“I understood.” Her voice is no more than a whisper. I exhale heavily and take her hands in mine. She doesn’t protest.
“Are you still mad at me?” My voice is as calm as the sea. She shakes and nods her head. I smother a chuckle. “I made a promise to you Halle and I’m sorry that I delayed in rejecting Madison, but please never think for once that I had second thoughts. I didn’t.”
“Then why did you take so long to reject her.”
“No reason. No reason at all. I can’t explain why it took me so long. I’m sorry.” My heart somersaults in my chest when she smiles at me. I almost jump out of my body when she connects her lips with mine, capturing them in a passionate kiss. Even when she breaks the kiss, I’m still looking at her like I’m dreaming.
The storm is over.
“I’m sorry for being dramatic about this whole issue. I was… I was scared.” Tears glitter in her eyes. “I love you so much, Reed. When you told me you found your mate, I was overwhelmed with jealousy. I felt threatened. I thought she was going to take you away from me.”
“But she didn’t and she won’t. You’re the only one I want to be with, Halle. I swear that on my life.” She crashes into my arms and sobs hard. I kiss her hair and gently caress her back as I try to console her.
“Thank you. Thank you for choosing me.”

“Welcome home Omega Reed, Miss Halle.” Patrick greets us warmly as Halle and I go into the house.
“Hey baby.” Horror fills my chest as I look over Patrick’s shoulders and see Madison descending the stairs.
“Madison what the fuck are you doing here? I thought I asked you to leave!”
“If you think you’re going to get rid of me so easily, then think again.”
“Have you lost your mind? I rejected you!”
“You did that because of this tramp?” She points to Halle. I shoot her a scorching glare.
There’s not a single moral bone left in this girl.
“Don’t you dare call her names! You need to leave right now!”
“Make me.” I chuckle bitterly as I take out my phone from my trouser pockets and send a quick text to someone before looking at Halle. “Go wait for me in the bedroom.” I give her a quick kiss on her lips before she leaves. If looks could kill, she’d be dead and buried by now because of how Madison is glaring at her.
“I can’t believe you are choosing her over me. I am your true mate!”
“You should have thought of that before getting pregnant for another man!” I fire back at her. She goes mute.
Few minutes later, Patrick goes to open the door and Madison’s face goes white when Klein steps into the living room.
“What the fuck are you doing here?” She asks, marching towards him.
“To take you home!” I go to meet them.
“You are in love with this guy, aren’t you?” She doesn’t reply to me. I shake my head and look at Klein who is staring at her like he’s going to burst into tears anytime soon.
He’s truly in love with her.
“What does it matter?”
“It matters because he is the one you want to be with. Because you are carrying his child.” I exhale heavily. “I already rejected you, it can’t be revoked and the way you look right now, it doesn’t seem to me like this rejection bothers you at all which only goes a long way to prove the fact that you don’t love me anyway.”
“You don’t know that.”
“I do. Now stop being a brat and listen to what I have to say.” To my surprise, she shuts up. “The house I took you to the day we met each other, it’s yours now. I changed its ownership to you. I got your account details from Klein and I’ve transferred some money in it. I’ve done the same to Klein.”
“Are you selling me off now?”
“Take it however you want, but I never want to see you here again. You belong with Klein, not with me. Have a good life.”
“Let’s go baby.” Klein tries to hold her but she smacks his hand away and barges out of the house, screaming and cursing in anger.
“She’ll come around.” I tell Klein.
“I know. Thank you very much. I appreciate everything you’ve done for us.”
“You are welcome.” He offers me a tight smile before leaving the house as well.
This has been one hell of a week!
