Reed’S POV.
I had nothing to say to the guy who claimed to be Madison’s boyfriend. After his long sermon, all I did was nod to give him a sign that I’ve heard what he said and then we parted ways. I release a ragged breath and shut my eyes as I step on my porch.
The trouble never ends. It’s either a murder attempt or a relationship issue or my fucking mate getting impregnated by another man.
This is something I’m supposed to be happy about. I truly am, but it doesn’t stop me from wondering how things would have been if Halle wasn’t in the picture. What if I wasn’t in love with another girl? What if I was patiently waiting to find my mate? Is this the kind of disappointment I would have faced?
Ha!
I better stop thinking about it.
I step forward and type my security code and the door unlocks. I’m greeted with delicious aroma food as I step into the living room. I stop and peer intently at the entrance to the kitchen.
Halle is not not here. My chefs must have retired by now. Who the hell…
Then it strikes me.
Madison.
“No, she didn’t!”
“Welcome home, Omega Reed.” I swivel in the direction of the voice and I’m taken aback when I see one of my servants standing before me.
“Layla, why are you still here at this time? You’re supposed to have retired for the day.”
“Your mate, Miss Madison, asked us to stay till you returned home.”
“No, she didn’t! Where the fuck is she?” I ask, looking around, my blood raging in my veins.
“In the kitchen with the…” I don’t wait for her to finish her statement. I drop my suitcase on the floor and charge towards the kitchen, muttering curses under my breath.
One day in my house and she thinks she has the right to order my servants around.
What the hell!
“Madison!” I thunder her name as I step into the kitchen. All the chefs and servants stop whatever it is they are doing and bow to me. Madison giggles as she jumps down from the kitchen island and rushes to meet me.
“Hey baby..” She tries to wrap her hands around my neck, but I grab them midair.
“What the fuck do you think you are doing?”
“Giving you a welcome home greeting.” I eye her from head to toe, feeling disgusted. I can’t believe she’s here acting like she’s not pregnant with another man’s child.
“Stop whatever it is you are doing and go home, all of you!” I order the servants. They nod their heads and start packing up. Madison shoots me a worried look.
“But, they are not done cooking what I…”
“Not another word from you, Madison!” I sneer and she goes mute. I look back at the servants. “From now on, you are not to take orders from someone except I’ve they’ve been validated by me. Is that understood.”
“Yes, Omega Reed.” I look back at Madison who is frowning.
“And you, come with me.” I bolt out of the kitchen and she follows me hot on my tail. I lead the way upstairs to my home office where we both get in and I close the door behind me.
“What was that about?” I am truly upset by what I just witnessed down there. Why does she feel so entitled?
Where are her manners?
“I should be asking you what that was about? Why did you make me look so weak in front of your servants? How are they supposed to respect me as the mistress of this house after the stunt you just pulled down there.” I chuckle out of sheer frustration. I cannot believe what my ears are hearing. What I’m experiencing at this moment.
This girl’s audacity is unmatched.
“You do not have to worry about their respect because you are not going to be the Mistress of this house.”
“What the hell do you mean by that?” She’s screaming at the top of her lungs. “I am your fucking mate!”
Aren’t pregnant women supposed to be calm and collected and weak? Why is she so agile?
I place one hand on my waist and drag the other over my face, sighing. Groaning. This girl is frustrating the shit out of my pants. My heart is threatening to jump out of my chest.
“Madison.” I call, breathlessly. I’m trying to keep calm as I bring up the main topic of the day. “When do you plan on telling me about your pregnancy?” She freezes on her spot, her eyes grow wide with astonishment, surprise momentarily rendering her immobile. Her face grows ashen.
“What the hell are you talking about?” She tries to feign innocence.
“Don’t fuck with me Madison!” Three long steps and I’ve eaten the distance between us. We are barely inches away from each other and my scorching glare is planted on her face, burning every inch of it. “Tell me the truth right now. Are you pregnant or not?” She starts hyperventilating. I guess she wasn’t expecting me to find out anytime soon. “I take your silence for a yes. What was your plan? To get me to have sex with you during the mating process and then you pin the pregnancy on me? Do you even understand the magnitude of the crime you were about to commit?” She dares to meet my gaze. Her eyes have gone pink with tears shimmering in them.
“I have no idea what you are talking about. I am not pregnant.” She lies.
“Oh yeah? How about we go now to the hospital and get you tested, I swear to the Moon goddess Madison, if we carry out a pregnancy test and it turns out to be negative, I will break up with my girlfriend, Halle and instantly accept you. Are you willing to prove me wrong?” She bursts into tears. That doesn’t stop me from grabbing her wrist to take her to the hospital, but she falls on the floor and starts wailing.
Point taken.
I take a step back and watch her cry her life away. Her boyfriend’s words replay in my mind.
She’s throwing herself at me because of what I can offer her. She’s attracted to my wealth, not me. I think I know exactly what to do.
“Madison.” I call. She looks up at me. Her face is completely drenched with tears. “I, Omega Reed, reject you as my mate. You are free to go out there and find love and companionship in another man as you already have. I break every connection I have with you and I relieve myself of our mate bond.”
“You can’t do this to me!” She creams in agony. A surge of power ripples through my body and I feel like ropes are snapping inside of me. Soon, I stop perceiving the scent of her pheromone and when I look at her, I feel no bond.
It is done.
“I’m only letting you stay the night because you’re pregnant. I want you gone first thing tomorrow morning.”
“No!” She starts screaming but I don’t stay to listen to her wailing. I exit the office.
I hope she doesn’t desJovan everything in it.
Once in the hallway, I take out my phone from my trouser pocket and open Halle’s dm.
“I rejected her. Let’s talk tomorrow.”
I never go back on my word.
