Lloyd’S POV.
“Lloyd, what’s up? Why did you ask to see me so urgently?” Jovan asks as I walk into his office, almost jumping with excitement. After the encounter between Alpha Myles and Alpha Jayce this morning, I have been thinking of the various ways I could use that rivalry to my advantage and I finally came up with something, that’s why I asked to see Jovan so urgently.
“There’s something we need to discuss.” I stop pacing and focus my gaze on him. “Alpha Myles of the Blue Pearl Pack was here this morning and he created a scene in Alpha Jayce’s office.” I explain, trying to keep myself calm. Jovan looks lost. He doesn’t seem to know where I’m driving to.
“Uh… so?”
“You don’t understand. Luna Alora was first mated to Alpha Myles of the Blue Pearl Pack, but the day they found each other, he rejected her at first sight and chose someone else to be his mate. That offended the Moon goddess and so she gave Luna Alora a second chance mate who happens to be our Alpha Jayce. Months have passed and Alpha Myles’s bad decisions are finally catching up with him. Because he is an Alpha, only his true mate can bear him an heir. The girl he chose can do that and because of that, he risks getting dethroned. That is why he was here this morning to ask Alpha Jayce to give Alora back to him.” I explain as clearly as I can. Jovan, after a while, heaves out a heavy sigh, smiling.
“Wow! That is one hell of an intense story.”
“It is, indeed. After that incident, I began thinking of ways to use this situation to our advantage and I finally came up with something.”
“I’d be delighted if you share it with me.”
“Alpha Myles is desperate. If we approach him right now. If we tell him about our plans to get rid of Alpha Jayce, he will be more than willing to jump on our train because he knows that will give him another chance with Alora. Imagine having an Alpha on our side in this battle.”
“Lloyd, that is brilliant!” He breaks into a wide smile. “You are right. He will be more than willing to help us if we approach him. Perfect. Perfect!”
I knew he’d like the idea.
A proud smile spreads across my face.
“So, all we have to do is plan a day to go see him. You’ll have to be the one to do that because I can’t risk anyone knowing I went to the Blue Pearl Pack without the Alpha’s knowledge.”
“That will not be a problem. I know exactly what to say to get him on our side.” I calmly nod my head.
“Cool then you’ll take the forefront on this. Let me know when you decide to go see him.”
“I will do that.”
“Great. I have to go now. Talk to you later.” I head out through the usual secret back door with a triumphant smile on my face.
Alpha Jayce and his so-called twin brother are definitely going down this time around. There’s no denying it!
Jayce’S POV.
If Reed did not spend the better part of the day telling me to calm down, I would’ve followed Myles to his castle and had him trashed even more.
What effrontery!
After rejecting and humiliating and tormenting Alora, he has the audacity to want her back after all this time.
Fuck him!
I push open the room to our bedroom and my heart somersaults in my chest when I see her sitting upright on the bed, leaning against the headboard with a book in her hand. I can’t see her face, but I know she looks beautiful tonight.
She always looks beautiful.
Myles will only take her away from me over my dead body. He has no place in her life anymore. She’s mine!
“Hey baby.” She greets, closing the book and stepping down from the bed. I close the door behind me and head over to her. When I’m close, I pull her into my hands and give her a big bear hug. I inhale her sweet smell with my eyes closed. She smells like everything nice. Everything pure. Everything live.
She’s my everything.
“I missed you.” I whisper in her ear. She shudders as my lips brush against her flesh.
“I missed you too.” I pull away and look at her face.
She’s too beautiful. Too precious. It’s a shame Myles didn’t see that when he rejected her.
“I heard Alpha Myles was here.” The smile on her face fades and is replaced by a worried look. My heart sinks upon seeing the uncertainty in her eyes.
“You heard right.”
“What did he come to do?”
“Nothing important.”
“Please don’t keep it away from me. Please tell why he was here.” She begs. I heave out a heavy sigh and ruffle my hair. Simply talking about it makes me terribly upset. I don’t even want to imagine something like that happening.
“He appears to be facing the consequences of rejecting you. The girls he chose can’t bear him an heir because she’s not his true mate and because of that, he risks getting dethroned because he can’t secure the future of the pack.”
“That’s why he wants me back. To bear him an heir.” One step forward and our bodies are almost touching. My hand finds its way to her stomach and I gently caress it.
“Yes.” She closes her eyes as I get on my knees and kiss her tummy. A ragged breath escapes my chest when she runs her fingers through my hair. I hold her waist with both hands and calmly place my head on her tummy so I can listen to our baby’s heart beat.
It’s strong and alive.
He or she is growing healthily.
My heir.
Myles is a fool.
“He’s never going to come anywhere near you.” I kiss her tummy once more and rise to my feet. “I won’t let him anywhere close to you or our unborn child. I swear that on my life.”
“I know.” My heart melts when she gives me a confident smile. She believes me. She trusts me to keep her safe. I can’t fail her. I can’t fail our unborn child. I smile heartily at her as I take her into my arms once more. I love the way she fits perfectly in my arms. We are like two puzzle pieces that fit perfectly into each other.
“Thank you for trusting me.” I look down at her beautiful face that has the brightest smile on it right now. “That’s his punishment for treating you the way he did. Sooner or later, he’s going to be dethroned, after which I’ll banish him from the Blue Pearl Pack. He’s going to become a Rogue.”
“Oh my God that’s… that’s terrible. He’s not going to survive it.”
“It’s what he deserves. Alpha Myles has alway been an Alpha who gets on my nerves. He has committed atrocious acts and I kept waiting for the right time to punish him for all his crimes. Now is the time and I do not intend to go easy on him. It’s time for him to pay.” She doesn’t say anything else. She falls back into my arms and I gladly embrace her.
I can’t get enough of her smell. The feel of her arms around my torso. Of her body.
“I can’t thank the Moon goddess enough for pairing me with you. You are the best, Jayce. I could never wish for anyone else. I love you.” She confesses.
“And I’m a lucky man to have you by my side. I love you more baby.” I plant a soft kiss on her forehead and we both stay in each other’s arms for a very long time.
