CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY-FOUR.
Jayce’S POV.
“During my inspection yesterday, I also spoke with employees at various business centers, especially the minimum wage employees and most of their feedback on their work conditions weren’t bad at all. However, there are some employers that need to be reprimanded. My secretary will find an appropriate date to schedule a meeting between myself and these employees. Overall, I can confidently say that employee work conditions have improved in most business sectors. We are succeeding in that aspect.” Reed summarizes his findings to me and I calmly nod my head as I listen and take mental notes on important aspects. I know he did a great job. I don’t doubt that one bit.
“Great. So that part has been dealt with. Right now, we’ll move to…” A knock on my office door steals the words from my mouth. Reed, Lloyd and I look at the door and when I ask whoever it is to come in, the door opens, revealing a guard. He immediately bows his head and greets us all. “What’s so urgent that you had to interrupt our meeting, Jared?”
“Forgive me for intruding, Alpha. I’m here because it’s a matter of great urgency.”
“Tell me already.”
“It’s Alpha Myles of the Blue Pearl Pack. He showed up out of nowhere and he insists on seeing you. The other guards and I have tried to make him understand he can’t see you without being summoned, but he has refused to bulge. The guards are having a hard time holding him still downstairs.” A smile tugs at the corner of my lips. A chuckle follows.
I even laugh because I know why he is here to see me.
Why did it take so long for this day to come?
“Bring him in right now.”
“As you wish, Alpha.” Another bow and then he’s out of my office. I look at my brother and Beta who seem lost.
“Do we need to leave?” Lloyd asks calmly. I relax on my chair and shake my head. Still smiling.
“It will be selfish of me to enjoy the fun alone. Stay and get entertained with me.” I wink at them both. They still look confused. Reed has a thousand questions to ask, but he’s smart, so he’ll get his answers when Alpha Myles comes in and starts talking.
“I don’t feel too good about this.” He finally voices his thoughts as he makes himself comfortable on his chair. The office door soon opens and Myles barges in with an eternal frown masked on his face. He doesn’t even have the courtesy to greet.
“We need to talk!”
“Are you out of your mind?” Reed asks, rising to his feet. “What gives you the audacity to use that tone with the Supreme Alpha. You didn’t even greet him!”
“Reed.” Reed looks at me, fuming. I gesture to him to calm down and take his seat. “Let him be.” He grudgingly does as instructed. Myles walks closer to my office table, still frowning. Reed is holding himself back from pouncing on him, while Lloyd is looking at him like he has lost his mind. I’m smiling like a Lunatic.
“What brings you here?” My hands are folded over my chest.
“There’s something important I need to discuss with you, but that can’t be done in their presence. Send them out.” He orders. I shake my head. Reed huffs in annoyance.
“Not going to happen. If you have something to discuss with me, bring it up right now, in their presence, or be on your way.” I can see his jaws ticking. He’s thoroughly irritated. If I wasn’t as powerful as I was, I would be getting the beating of my life by now from him.
He looks at Lloyd and Reed, frowning. He’s definitely upset that they have to stay and listen to our conversation. That’s something he doesn’t want. But he knows despite the smile on my face, my word is my word. It’s either he talks now or he leaves.
“It’s about Alora.” He says tightly.
Ha!
I said it.
Reed’s eyebrows almost touch his hairline as his eyes widen in shock. Lloyd’s expression is blank.
I bring my nails closer to my face and play with them for a while before looking back at him. The smile on my face has disappeared.
“What about my mate?” He swipes a hand over his face, breathing hard.
“I want her back.”
“You dirty pig! How dare you!” That’s Reed. He wants to rise to his feet, but I tell him with my eyes to stay still. He obeys. I look back at Myles, wondering what I should do with him right now. Strangle him to death, break all the bones in his body, open up the ground and bury him right here and now or keep up with the act of nonchalance.
The last option sounds more peaceful, so I’ll go with it.
“How dare you?” My voice is calm, but deadly. As I rise to my feet, he takes a few steps back. It’s a good thing he’s still scared of me. “I thought you rejected her.”
“I made a fatal mistake. I had no idea what it was going to cost me. Right now, the girl I chose can’t give me a child and because of that, I risk losing my title as Alpha. I need Alora back! She needs to come back home with me and give me a child. You have to give her…” A heavy blow cuts off his words from his mouth. The blow sends him flying to the wall behind him. He yelps in pain as he crashes into it before dropping on the floor. Blood oozes from his mouth and satisfaction…. Satisfaction fills me.
“Call her name one more time and you won’t live to see another sunrise.”
“You can’t do this to me!” He screams with a bloody mouth.
“Oh yes, I can. You rejected your mate at first sight because she was a servant. You humiliated her. You let your so-called chosen mate maltreat her. You treated Alora like trash. She was going to die in your hands if the Moon goddess did not give her a second chance mate and now, you have the audacity to stand before me and talk about taking her back? You have the audacity to talk about your Supreme Luna with such disrespect?”
“She was my mate first. I’m entitled to her as much as you are.” I take calm, calculated steps to where he’s lying and stoop down by his side. I lock his chin in a firm grasp and force him to look at my face.
“When the time given to you by your elders is up, I will personally strip you off your Alpha title and banish you from the Blue Pearl Pack. Brace yourself because soon… pretty soon, your status will change from Alpha, to rogue.”
“No! You can’t do that to me.”
“Watch me.” I stand up. “Please get this man out before I end his life.” Reed is the first to reach him. He yanks Myles by his hair and drags him out of the office as he wails at the top of his voice.
Serves him right for being a brute!
