CHAPTER EIGHTY-FOUR.

Book:THE SUPREME ALPHA'S HATED LUNA Published:2024-11-20

Jovan’S POV.
For the second time, I was properly thrashed by Reed in a one on one fight and in my defence, he took me off guard, again!
When I went to his house, I didn’t expect to see a girl coming out of it and now I regret attacking her. I have no idea how Reed knew what was going on outside his premises, but when he got out, everything went sideways.
I should have waited for her to leave before riding on with my plan of luring him out and taking him off guard.
Now I understand why my father always told me never to get distracted while I’m on a mission. Now, I’ve got a few broken ribs and sprained ankles and bruises all over my body because I was stubborn.
“Ouch!” I flinch in pain when a wet cotton damped with alcohol grazes over one of the many pink bruises on my face. A burning sensation courses through the wound, making me feel the pain in my heart.
Fuck!
Reed, I’m going to kill you!
“If you had listened to my advice about not going over to that Omega’s house to fight him, you wouldn’t be in this type of situation.” That’s my mum. I roll my eyes hard as she sits by my side on the couch. The nurse is diligently cleaning my bruises and after she’s done, it’ll be just a matter of house before everything heals, but for my ankles, I’m going to need a few days before I can walk properly without limping.
The only good thing about this attack is the fact that I was masked. I don’t think either of them recognized me else my house would be blowing up by now with calls and summons from Alpha Jayce.
“It’ll be better if you don’t try to do a thing like this again.”
“Mum please, I’m already hurting enough. Please don’t add more salt to my wounds. I need to get rid of Reed at all costs. He keeps getting in the way of my plans and your giving me all these long talks isn’t helping!” I snap. She goes silent. Guilt washes through me like ocean waves.
I’m not supposed to use that tone on my mum and the look on her face right now is making things worse.
“Mum.” I calmly call as I take her hands in mine and kiss them. The nurse is done cleaning my bruises so I signal her to excuse us. She bows and leaves. “I’m sorry for snapping at you. It’s, just, sometimes…”
“I know.” She calmly cuts me off with a smile on her face. “I’m sorry. I understand what you are going through. It’s my fault for nagging.”
“Oh mum…” I fall into her arms and she kisses my hair. My entire body still aches with pain, but being in my mum’s arms right now makes me feel a lot better. “Thank you very much for understanding. The truth is, I’m never going to know what will work if I don’t try so many things. Jayce is a strong man and Reed has proven to be in the same category of strength as him. In order for us to get rid of them, we have to plan hard, try a million different things because we never know when we’ll get lucky. That’s why I had to go over at his place and I got beat up because of a girl.”
“What do you mean you got beat up because of a girl?” Mum pulls me away from her arms and gives me a serious look.
“When I went over to Reed’s house, I saw a girl walk out of his living room. For a split second, I contemplated letting her leave before riding on with my plan, but something in me snapped and I attacked her and that was my mistake because that gave Reed the chance to completely take me off guard. He almost killed me mum. I swear to God that guy fights like an Alpha!”
“That’s impossible. He’s an ordinary Omega. He’s way down the power rank.”
“Mum, I’m well aware of that, but I know what I’m talking about. This is the second time I’m getting a punch from that guy and it was lethal. He literally held me in the air with a single hand, my feet were dangling in the air and he threw me across his lawn. That’s the same way Jayce beat me up the other time. There’s so much similarity in the way they fight and do things.” I explain with all seriousness.
Mum lets out a heavy sigh, but stays silent.
It’s an issue that would make me truly speechless.
Reed is strange and I can’t help, but feel like there’s more to him than we all know.
My cell phone buzzes on the table and I squint in surprise when I see Lloyd’s number.
What could make him call me at this time?
Mum helps me with the phone from the table and I answer the call.
“Lloyd.” I lean against the backrest of the chair.
“Alpha Jovan. I heard what you did. That was very dangerous.”
“What? I told no one about…”
No one except my mum!
I cast a serious glare and she guiltily looked away.
She ratted me out.
“Mum!”
“What?”
I shake my head and exhale heavily before turning to focus on my call with Lloyd.
“I was just trying something.”
“And look where it got you. Jovan, I would never advise you to try to attack Reed one on one again. Even I, as a Beta, cannot win a fight against him. He is incredibly strong and you should avoid him as much as you avoid Alpha.” Lloyd dishes out. His words stab me like a thousand daggers straight into my heart.
I sigh for the umpteenth time.
“I didn’t realise that.”
“Alpha Jovan… please, for the sake of the mission we have at hand, try to stay alive. Reed could have killed you back there. Avoid him. If you really want to get rid of him that much, exercise a bit of patience. I will be discharged tomorrow and we’ll sit together and plan on how to go about it. Don’t try to have a one on one duel with Reed ever again.” His warning cuts deep like a knife wound.
“Understood, Lloyd.”
“Thank you. Like I said, I’ll come over tomorrow so we can discuss more. Is that okay with you?”
“It’s perfect.”
“Great. I have to go now. Goodnight.”
“Goodnight.” I end the call and look back at my mum who’s giving me an intimidating look.
“Are you going to scold me now? At least you now know you shouldn’t mess with Reed.”
“No mum. I won’t. Right now, what I’m going to do is, I’m going find someone to do a background check on Reed.“
“A background check on Reed? Why?”
“Because something about him sounds fishy to me. I can’t quite put my finger on it yet, but he feels very strange. I want to know everything I can about his parents. Only then will I be at peace.” Mum shrugs her shoulders and nods her head.
“Go ahead then. As long as it doesn’t entail you getting into a physical fight with him.”
“It doesn’t. I’ll hire someone to do it.”
“Alright.”
“I’m going to bed. Goodnight.” I tiredly rise from the couch, my muscles making funny noises as they snap within.
This was a lesson well learned.
Never will I attempt to have a duel with Reed ever again!
