CHAPTER SEVENTY-FIVE.

Book:THE SUPREME ALPHA'S HATED LUNA Published:2024-11-20

Reed’S POV.
The entire pack has been in total commotion ever since I brought Alpha Jayce to the hospital. I have been receiving phone calls from all other Alphas who want to know how the Supreme Alpha is fairing and right now, I’m tired of saying the same thing over and over again.
He is doing alright!
Almost half of the subjects have rallied around hospital premises and have vowed not to leave until they receive word or see with their own eyes that Alpha Jayce is alive and doing okay. It’s frustrating to have to deal with all that. That’s why I’ve arranged for the hospital staff to go tell them what they want to hear.
Meanwhile, I’m praying and hoping that this news hasn’t reached Alora one way or the other. I instructed Halle to take her home and make sure she has no access to any social media platform where she can get the news and most importantly, prevent her from making contact with anyone that could spill anything to her.
So far, she’s still in the dark, but I think it’s about time for me to go over and tell her what’s going on.
I look down at Alpha Jayce who is resting peacefully. It breaks my heart to know it was someone he trusts with all his life who put him in this situation. I swear I’m going to teach Lloyd a lesson he’ll never forget.
“I’ll be right back.” I whisper as I pull my hand gently away from his hold.
“Don’t be gone for too long.” He whispers back and I look at him in shock.
He’s supposed to be sleeping.
“I thought you were sleeping.”
“I am. I’m just very vigilant to know what’s going on around me.” I nod my head knowingly.
Of course his senses are that sharp. He’s the fucking Supreme Alpha.
“Right. I won’t take long.”
“You can tell Alora what happened to me and bring her over. I feel a lot better now. I think I can handle her now.”
“I will do just that.” I rise to my feet and head for the door.
“Reed.” He calls weakly. I turn around to face him. He’s smiling. It’s creepy. Why the fuck is he smiling all of a sudden.
“What?” I ask with a light chuckle.
“Thank you very much. You are my knight in shining armour.” He winces as he attempts to laugh.
“Serves you right.” I mock. “Get some rest and prepare yourself for Alora when she comes. She’s going to be nothing but dramatic about what happened. I hope you have the strength to deal with that.”
“Thank you for the heads up!” I shake my head and leave the ward.
I have no idea how we got so close.
About two months ago, we only spoke formally to each other. I didn’t have the mind to use informal language or crack jokes with him, but today, it’s different. I can even scold him and still keep my head.
I like it.
“Omega Reed.” A voice calls the moment I walk into the hospital lobby. I look ahead and see one of the doctors I sent to announce the news of Alpha Jayce’s recovery, walking towards me with a terrified look on his face.
“Doctor Cole.” I stop walking and wait for him to approach me.
“Omega Reed.” He’s almost breathless. “My colleagues and I have tried talking to the population about Alpha Jayce’s situation, but they don’t believe us. The subjects say they want to hear it from your mouth before they believe.
Bloody subjects!
“Are they still outside?”
“Yes, Omega, Sir.” I walk past him and head out of the lobby. Indeed, there’s a multitude of people of both sexes and all ages, jam-packed in the hospital premises, chattering with worried looks on their faces.
It’s annoying.
I’m pissed because even those who loathe Alpha Jayce. Those who pray everyday for his downfall, are gathered here, probably waiting for me to give out bad news so they’ll pretend like they are sad, but they’ll go home and jubilate.
Oh, how I’m ready to burst their bubbles.
I clear my throat to get their attention and it works. The moment all eyes fall on me, the entire place goes dead silent. They all bow down to me respectfully and I give them a handshow signal for them to look up again.
“I believe you are here to get updates on Alpha Jayce’s condition.”
Silence.
All eyes are on me. Everyone looks very serious.
“Alpha Jayce was severely injured during the sudden ambush in the woods, but the medical team did a great job reviving him and now he’s doing just fine. He’s responding to treatment perfectly and he’ll address you, latest tomorrow. You all can go home now and wait for the Alpha’s official statement on the issue.” They all start murmuring and walking away.
Some have happy looks on their faces while others faces are devoid of any emotion.
Whether they are disappointed or not, the most important thing is that Alpha Jayce is doing alright.
***********************************************
“Reed!” Alora calls in a worried tone as she rushes over to me. Halle is following close behind. “What’s going on? Halle suddenly brought me home and I’ve been locked up in my bedroom since morning. They won’t let me have access to any electronic device. What’s wrong?” She asks with fear-filled eyes. I stare at her blankly.
I should have asked Alpha Jayce to call and tell her by himself. I haven’t even told her what happened yet, but I can already sense the drama that’s going to unfold.
I’m not cut out for these kinds of things.
“Why aren’t you saying anything?” She looks from me to Halle and back to me.
“Alora.”
“Where’s Alpha Jayce?” Her voice has gone dangerously quiet. I have to intervene before she thinks the worst about this situation.
“No… no. He’s not dead.” I simply state and her face goes pale. “He’s alive.”
“What? What the hell do you mean by that? What happened to him?” The tone of her voice spontaneously increases till the end of that statement. “Where’s Alpha Jayce?” Now she’s screaming.
“At the hospital.”
“Hospital?” She asks in horror.
“Yes.”
“For Christ’ sake Reed, will you tell me why he’s at the hospital? What happened to him?” Her eyes have turned glassy. Her voice is shaky. She’s hyperventilating.
Halle is looking at us like we’ve both lost our minds. Like me, she has no idea how to handle this raging version of Alora.
“He got ambushed in the woods this morning. He was severely injured and I had to rush him to the hospital. That’s why I asked Halle to bring you home so the news won’t reach you. But he’s fine now and he said to bring you over.”
“Please take me to him.” She starts crying.
“Sure.” I lead the way out of the living room with both girls following behind.
“Are you sure he’s alright?” She asks when we get to the car. I open the back seat door for her and gesture to her to get in.
“You’ll validate my words when you get there.” She hops into the car and I expect Halle to go in next, but she takes a step behind and shakes her head. “Why not?” I ask with creased brows.
“I’m done babysitting her. I have other things to take care of.” And with that, she walks away.
I’m not even surprised because I would’ve said the exact same thing if I were in her shoes.
She’s my spirit female.
I close the seat door and circle the car to the passenger seat. Once I’m settled, the driver kicks off.
